  1. I'm a bridge teacher looking for clients - so if anyone is interested in playing with me then I would be happy to play 2/1 and help improve your bridge. I would obviously charge to play with me. I have a Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/johnworf with a lot of free teaching material - or me just playing and discussing my bidding and play strategies.
  2. I'm going to win in hand to protect against a 5-0 spade break first of all....I'm then going to play my second longest suit and use spades as a communication suit. I'm going to go with the idea of playing a small diamond to the 7 but see if LHO plays anything high first. I will take another finesse against the queen diamonds...so I'm only not getting 2 diamond tricks if RHO has Q and 10 which is only 25%. Hopefully after this the rest of the hand should pan out.
  3. Yes I agree...4NT is to play...especially MP's situation. 5♦ would be the king ask in my book. That's how I have written it up on my website.... https://www.stellar-bridge.co.uk/rkc-minorwood/
  4. It's amazing how many people don't understand that this bidding sequence 1♣ - 2♦shows a strong hand. Drives me mad how many times I tell my students this and they still screw it up.
  5. Yes i agree this auction is more normal...it's whether west now bids 4c being non vulnerable over 3h then.
  6. I'm messing about with the handviewer. I'm putting the code into my webpages (it's wordpress) and it works okay. <iframe src="https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?linurl=https://www.stellar-bridge.co.uk/xml/test.xml"></iframe> Here I put the code in an xml wrapper. BUT...whatever is after the code just doesn't show up. Does anybody know why this is happening....it feels like it might be not closing a tag or something?
  7. I did a video here you can see: There is a video here which shows how you can convert the files from pbn to lin. https://www.stellar-bridge.co.uk/convert-pbn-to-lin-file-format/ There are also some free lin files available here: https://www.stellar-bridge.co.uk/free-bridge-downloads/
  8. I think you need to come out of the folder and then go back into the folder so the hands show up....this happened a few times to me as well before I worked out what was going on.
  9. I think this answers your question..... There is a video here which shows how you can convert the files from pbn to lin. https://www.stellar-bridge.co.uk/convert-pbn-to-lin-file-format/ There are also some free lin files available here: https://www.stellar-bridge.co.uk/free-bridge-downloads/ Hope that helps... 12. without reading anything else i think this would be my line too...seems most logical i hope!
  13. I misread the bidding of this...after 2S I would probably bid 4S because i only have 2 card support. i don't like 2nt as the double negative...so i guess 2nt shows something positive which i like and after 3h i can bid 4h as usually 4-4 fits can play better as you can use the long suit to discard your minors assuming hearts break 3-2 or 2-2 or 3-1 etc. if 2nt is semi constructive then partner can enquire slam if he has something like AKJ10xx, AKxx,Ax, A...this could even be 6 ace rkcb...so after 4h, 4nt is spades and hearts ask 4nt..5d,5nt q ask,6h (both), 7h lets play in the 4-4 fit.
  14. ok so my two peneth.... 3c muppet stayman transfers 3s=transfer to 3nt 3nt = 5/5 minors 4c = slam try in hearts, 4d = acceptance of slam 4h = sign off 4d = slam try in spades, 4h acceptance of slam, 4s sign off 4h = slam try in clubs 4nt = sign off, 4s = rkcb, 5c to play where you have 3 card support but think might be safer to play in 5 that in 4nt...if teams. 4s = slam try in diamonds, 4nt = sign off, 5c rkcb, 5d to play where you have 3 card support but think might besafer to play in 5 than in 4nt if teams. also just introduced 2nt - 3d - 3s which shows only 2 hearts and 5 spades...a bit like muppet...this caters for 3523 or 3532 shape from responder. with 55 in majors use muppet stayman then probably get response of 3h...then bid 4h to show 5/5 can also bid 5h to show slam interest or 6h to say pick a major. also can use 6 ace roman keycard blackwood...e.g 2nt-3nt(55 minors) 4nt or 4h as roman keycard if you want to keep the bidding down. if we are weak with 5-5 in the minors we will just settle on passing 2nt or bidding 2nt-3s-3nt.
  15. This is a different alternative you bid 3s when you don't have 5 spades because you want the strong hand to play it out in spades not the week hand. The downside of this system is it's easy to forget :-)
