  1. Always trust on partner................else, change partner. If we play standard carding, following first with the 5 and then ruffing with the 6, means he/she has only 2♥. This is suggested also by the bidding. I dont agree with Ben: if dealer has 1-6-3-3, he isn't doomed anyway, since, reading the trump situation, if i play ♣ he sluffs the Q ♦ , takes the trick with dummy's J and finesse ♥. So i agree with Free and retourn ♦
  2. In the 1st example, 5nt= first round controll in both ♥ and ♣; in 2nd 5♣ and over partner's 5♦ (it's difficult he can bid more w/o KQ♦), 5nt as grand slam ty. I'm not afraid of xxx♥, since pard has singleton or void for sure.
  3. Mamma mia !!!!! This is a nigthmare not a pool. Agree with Roland, it's a guess. And agree again with Roland: 5♠........ and this may be the end of nightmare and the beginning of a suicide.
  4. Pass. 2♦ is a free bid, so either a good hand or a good shape. My partner bidded 1♠ but earlier he passed, so, i agree with Pclayton, 3♣ would show a very constructive raise not 3♦. I dont have any more respect my free bid and i dont see how and why i have to bid more
  5. Agree totally with Mikeh's fine analysis, and, in my opinion, 4♦ is the most descriptive rebid
  6. With such a good hand and partner 5/+♣ inviting/+ , i dont think about advance save. My problem is to find the right contract or help my partner to do that. Since i play Garozzo agreement (double= ♥ shortness), my bidding is 3♠ which is descriptive and leave room for my partner: - if he has xx♥ and only inviting hand, knowing to loose 2 ♥ tricks, he will bid 4♣ - if he has x♥, 5♣ is for sure a playble contract - if he has Ax or Kx♥ ( i cant exclude that), 3nt is our contract
  7. agree 100% with Kalvan. When partner shows probably 11 cards in 2 suits, to show KQ in a side suit doesn't work. Also for me, as Mike said, 5!c means A♣ and absence of ♥control (with 2nd round control in ♥ and 1st in ♣, i'd bid 6♦ or, better, 6♣), so the bidding of 4nt , which cant be rkcb in this sequence,is the more descriptive: support ♦ and 2nd round control in ♥ and ♣
  8. x♦. If west play the Q (he must from Qxx) ,low in dummy and i have my 7 tricks (4♦ + 3 aces). If west play x, i insert the 9 and if est wins, i have the same 7 tricks (except if ♦ are 8xxxx - Qx).since further i take my K♦ with the A. If the 9 takes the trick, i play x♣ to the J. If Est covers with K or Q, i have my 7 tricks ( 2♦+3♣+2A), if he play low and west wins with a H♣ and cash 3♠ and then play ♥, i take the A, then K♦ to the A (if Q were 2nd, all is over) to play again ♣ to the 10. If J♣ takes the trick, i play K♦ for the A, and again ♣. So 7 tricks if they win the ♦ Q or if they have Qx ♦ or if west has KQ/xx or Kx/x or Qx/x♣
  9. Hi, my name is Mauro and i'm a new member. I read a lot of discussions and found very interesting your forum. Compliments...and sorry for my poor english. The theme seems to be "how aggressive are you" and i agree that to be aggressive pay a lot (even if Garozzo, talking about Forquet sayd "he never takes a risk, but he never makes a mistake"...and Forquet wasn't the last player in bridge history), but ,if you have room, it's better to try to be precise instead of to much unilateral. Coming to the this interesting hand, well, i know to have 3 atout (and i could have only 2♠ by the bidding), and usefull cards, but this is not the best i could have. So i'd prefer to leave the decision to my partner, noticing him "i'm alive", so i'd bid 3♥ always and with a good partner 3♦, showing ♥ and ♣ support. So i accept your invitation, but not sure we have game (i'd bid game with Kx♥ or Kx/xx♣). Mauro
