  1. I have been looking at former posts concerning changeing a bridge hand from one format to another. What I would like to know is whether it is possible to scan a bridge hand in a book and then convert it into a PBN format for playing on my computer, I'm not sure it's possible but if so how is it done? The hands are shown in the usual orientation...W/N/E/S and the page was scanned and saved as a Jpeg. It was then cropped to only show the 4 hands. What I want to do now is open this hand on my laptop using my Jack software (PBN) and then play the hand as though at the bridge table. In other words the hand is loaded,Jack opens it and the bidding and play proceed as normal. I have to say that my computer skills are pretty basic and that needs to be bourne in mind. :) Regards Howbrow
  2. I've recently started to collect interesting hands from BBO and created some folders in My Hands. I download the relevant file from the Archives and then delete the hands I don't want. The files are in lin format initially and I can view all 4 hands and play through them in the normal way.......but what I want to do as an extra option is to play through the hands using my computer bridge program which is Jack 6 and is PBN. The advatage of this to me is that I see my hand but the others are hidden initially, just like sitting at a bridge table. Does anybody know how to convert from lin to pbn so I get to play in that format using Jack. Can anybody offer any useful help or advice. Kind regards Howard (howbrow)
  3. Thanks for that link. it solved my problem.
  4. Hi Can anybody help. I'm trying to view and then download tournaments from the recent past. You could download from the archives from 'way back' until quite recently. Now you can only go back and retrieve those from about a month ago. I've tried putting in player's names or dates of tournaments but have had no success. Does anybody know how to do it or in fact whether it is possible? The hands must be somewhere unless they have been deleted. I've also tried the archive project site but couldn't find anything. As an example I tried to find the Commonwealth Championships from the Gold Coast but it no longer appears in the archives but it wasn't listed.Anybody any ideas. Hopeful! Howard (howbrow)
