Tonight it's working again....
-
This started happening about a week ago. Start off Loading Player List, then gets to 5000 loaded 1 displayed then will go no further. Just tried a re-install, but no go. The web version loads fine, trouble is I don't like it at all. I just prefer the orginal after all these years.

Ban them for 50 years plus a substantial fine.
-
I agree with cherdano - it's hard to believe that they have never had a weak 2 opened against them, therefore they will have an agreement.
-
Definitely advanced :P Congratulations Justin. Cheers, Gary

Many happy returns from down under G, one of my favourite partners on BBO :)
-
I fail to see how a bid which shows 12-14 can be a considerable underbid when you have 14. And only 3 tricks. :(
-
Thanks Fred... it wasn't so much the start announcements, rather the continual apologies from the commentators about the connection problems... will this suppress those also?

Last night while trying to have a serious practise, we were getting vugraph announcements it seemed like every minute. An option to ignore messages from vugraph would be very nice.

Generalizations such as "Acol is mainly out of date" are clearly untrue. Like language, it changes constantly. One thing that has never changed is 4 card majors. Anyone who says "Acol with 5 card spades" is NOT playing Acol. Modern Acol players have no aversion to opening 1NT with a 5 card major, so the answer to the question is at least 5 but may have more.

If you haven't played Rock for a long time you get dropped as a member and have to re-apply.

TD SUGGESTION BLOCKING TD BUTTON
KiwiBridge replied to absalon2's topic in Suggestions for the Software
I think they are referring to the very annoying pop-ups as you can't go to their table. In spite of the fact that you may have told them repeatedly to use tournament chat, most players don't bother to read the conditions. -
From the NZCBA manual: During the auction: Do alert all conventional calls other than those listed below. A conventional bid is not only a bid whose meaning is not related to the bid (e.g. a Multi 2D has nothing to do with diamonds) but also a bid that conveys extra information (e.g. 2H showing hearts and another is conventional because there is additional information that the hand contains a heart suit – making it conventional). Do alert bids that are outside reasonable expectation. For example: a non-forcing response by partner in a new suit would require an alert. The only exceptions are: Do not alert any natural No Trump opening bid and simple 2C Stayman response (you should pre-alert the HCP range - if it is different from what is generally accepted as the basic system). Do not alert any 3 card+ minor or 4+ major opening bid at the one level unless there is additional information (e.g. canape). Do not alert a strong 2C opener and the negative 2D response. Do not alert any double or redouble irrespective of meaning Do not alert any cue-bid -- a cue-bid is defined as a bid in a known opponents suit, or a bid of the suit they have bid irrespective of the meaning of that bid. Do not alert any bid at the 4 level or higher. The last three categories of calls referred to above are considered to be self-alerting and therefore are exempted from alerts. Your opponents are expected to ask about their meaning if it is important to them to know before they make their own call.

In standard multi down under 2♠ is a game try in ♥ opposite a weak 2♥ or pass with ♠ - in either case unlikely to get the juicy penalty - more likely to get the usual -470

I was lucky enough to catch a group called The Hold Steady on Letterman late one night. I immediately bought the album Boys And Girls In America and it's pretty damn fine! They have been likened to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band by the great English magazine Uncut - hard to get a better reccommendation than that

It's other by a landslide. What a silly list :)

For years NZ has had teams trials and sent teams overseas with high hopes only to see them fail. Last year they tried a pairs trial for the PABF and look what happened. The Open team with Wayne and Pam making their debut finished a very close 4th and the Women had a handsome victory, their first in decades! I think most players are happy with that and to see pairs trials again this year. I hope they continue as now my partner is finally old enough, we intend to have a crack at the Senior trials next year. :P

The New Zealand Trials have just completed. Congratulations to BBO members Cascade (Wayne Burrows) and Kermit (Pam Livingston) who are in the Open team going to the PABF in Indonesia, KiwiFraser (Fraser Rew) and John Whyte in the Youth team to the same venue, alanz (Alan Grant) and Ant (Anthony Ker) who are off to the Bermuda Bowl in China and all others selected after an arduous five day trial over Easter. Full results and teams for 2007 are at the web site NZ Trials Results and Teams for 2007

Have just finished a NINE board tourney with a playing director... some players are still on board FIVE.... would be nice if one could still chat to the tourney in an effort to speed up the very SLOW players
-
I always explain with the alert and wish it could be made mandatory ;)

This tournamnent was a disgrace, we sat an entire round of 16 minutes waiting for opps to bid. TD was {uday: edit to remove name} . Called a Yellow {uday:edit to remove name} who came and did nothing. This claim is supported by otaps who had the same experience.

what is HMFAG?

Also one of the silliest 4♥ bids I've ever come across.

♥Full 3 way Multi and Weak 2 suiters (in NZ they are known as weak Tartan 2's), we play this in conjunction with 4 card suits at the 1 level and 12-15 NT. 2♣ Acol, absolute game force, or 23-24 balanced, 2♦ relay, if rebid not 2NT then game must be reached. 2♦ 3 way multi, either a) weak 2 in ♥ or ♠ (6-10hcp) OR 8-9 playing tricks in 1 or more suits (i.e. just less than a game force) OR 20-22 balanced with 5332 shape. Responses to 2♦: 2♥ - pass with weak 2♥ or bid 2♠ with those. Any other rebid shows the appropriate strong option. After the 2NT strong rebid, 3♣ asks for the 5 card suit. 2♠ - Shows GAME interest opposite a good weak 2♥. Pass with weak 2♠, evaluate a weak 2♥ opening, or show the strong options. 2NT - GAME try relay. Reponses: 3♣/♦ Good weak 2 in ♥/♠ 3♥/♠ Poor weak 2 in ♥/♠ 3NT upwards - the strong options (rare but pleasant when they occur) 2♥ - weak 2 suiter (6-10hcp), 5+♥, 5+other suit Responses to 2♥: 2♠ - pass or correct, pass with ♠ or bid minor 2NT - strong relay, bid 3minor if min, 4minor if max, 3♥ min both majors, 3♠ max both majors 2♠ - weak 2 suiter (6-10hcp) 5+♠, 5+minor Responses to 2♠: 2NT - strong relay, bid minor, jump if max 3C - pass or correct to 3♦ 2NT opening 21-22 hcp, NO 5 card suits (note the extra point required for no 5 card suit) Responses are Baron and Transfers
