due to we play weak NT, this time my partner had 17HCP, balanced hand 3433. ♠ K J 9 ♥ K J X X ♦ A Q X ♣ K X X we have to loose 2 major aces, and one diamond. so 4C is limit. I jump 4C at table, partner raise to 5C. not quite sure of what went wrong.. 3N is excellent contract. someone mentioned 2C, my arguement is if partner had 12-14, for example remove the SK, then opponent would likey have 4M contract. 4C may do the job, or even direct 5C.

i got following hand in team match. we play general 2/1, and weak NT 12-14. we are white vs red. partner open 1C first, could be only 2 club. 1C (1S) ?? ♥2 ♥2 ♦109542 ♣AQ9842 What to bid, reason ? thanks
-
thanks for reply, as most experts picked 3C. i jump 4C to invite at table; the drawback is bypass 3N, however i argue that possible 5-5 club fit and both heart and spade singleton argues for suit contract. is it valid point or the value is too soft, which is still better for NT contract ? this is whole hand . ♥ AQJX ♥ X ♦ AXX ♣ AKXXX . ♥ K ♥ K8XXX ♦ QX ♣ QJ10XX ; ; 1C (2H) ?? 1) 2N, then both have to try hard to find club fit. 1C (2H) 2N 3S 4C here 4C only promise 3 club as i understand. 4D 4S (don't cue H) 6C not easy for me to reach 6C 2) 3C, as long as south cuebid S, 6C is possible 1C (2H) 3C 3D 3S .. 6C 3) PASS, it won't lead to good result when 9-10 club fit. (unless vulerability changes) 1C (2H) P X ?? touch choice now, pass again ? .. only my 2 cents, feel free to comment, thanks. shan

team imps, both white partner open 1C, RHO weak 2H. 1C (2H*) ?? ♥:K ♥K8XXX ♦QX ♣QJ10XX what choice, and reason ? thanks

thanks for the comments. i was holding S: X H: AKQJ D: AXXX C: QXXX partner opened 1S, i decide to use second sequence in the post, use 2H fsf then support D, my intension to show my heart value and diamond support. 1s - 2c 2d - 2h 2s - 3d my partner wasn't sure of this 2h is showing value or just asking H stoppers.

general 2/1 system, 1s - 2c 2d - 3d ? what opener option here, 1) 3H. 2) 3S, now change the auction a little bit. 1S - 2C 2D - 2H what is 2H here? - Shan

sorry, i missed to reply in couple days. i asked everyone at table. the 4c bidder claims no agreement, he knew 3N is natural, not conventional bid. and he just bid 4C to bid sort of "waiting" bid.. weird, huh? then i continue to ask what he understand this 3N. he reply as 3N is certainly not signoff ! i then turn to his partner to quesiton, his partner reply as no agreement, 3n is just to play. and both of this pair play together quite long and familiar each other. i don't think they would have any misunderstanding on such simple auction. more importantly, this pair perform outstanding in our bbo league (a couple of weeks). case 2. they play precision. 1C (strong) 1N (balanced 8-10) 3N (to play) 4C !! magic 4C bid again with 10 hcp. 4H (actually opner had 5H, never try to introduce it in the beginning !?) - 4N RKC 5X - 6H finally they found 5-4 fit heart suit, and very maginal 6H contract with 30hcp. magically produce 12 tricks. case 3. again, 1C - 1N 3N - PASS, with 10hcp with 5 card minor suit in hand. this time 30HCP doesn't produce 12 tricks, actually only 10 tricks. successfully pass. case 4. a lot of marginal games wer bid, and 2 way finness for Q never be a problem to find. a few vul games would be stop at 3 level, when no play at all, or finesse won't work. when partner was declear, game won't be reached, since the normal play line won't make it. . case 5, magic play dummy: 9XX vs KJ10XX opponent didn't bid, he didn't have entry problem. he would play low from dummy, when A show up. next time he would play J from hand, LHO QXX would be in guess, finally LHO ducked.. 5Cx contract would be made. dummy: Q43 vs K1092 no entries issues, he play 2 to the Q, next time he play 3 toward the K to drop the J behind, again, no opponent bidding and no any clue as far a i can see. magic ! there's still a lot of cases i can continue to list, but so tired, sorry. all of them are just obvervation by a lot of players, including me. but all of these cannot be proof. and none of them can be ruled.. . we are just stucked and frustrated. how do we deal it now ? shan

we organized one BBO competition tournament, and there's a lot of teams joined. however one of players keep doing weird things in bidding. one case: he opened 2N (22-24) announced in bidding box. 2N - 3N (3N is signoff, no alert) 4C! - 6N 6N Made ! the opener had 4243 shape, only 23hcp. he "luckily" caught partner 8hcp with balanced hand. and all the cards lay friendly. would anyone help me to judge whether we need rule this 4C bid ? a lot of other players are complaining, and i feel it would hurt the tournament sooner or later. thank you.

4H opener would be the winner. i shall disclose the hands later. . one of friends choose PASS, which very few people would do, but anyway i want to see what the next decision to make, :) this is second part question. thanks general 2/1 system, P (P) 1D (2S) ?? S: 9 H: AQ105432 D: Q10764 C: - you passed first, intend to come in later, what now over opponent 2s ?
-
first seat, white vs red, 1) what do you open ? 2) there could be second part depend on your opening. S: 9 H: AQ105432 D: Q10764 C: -

S8 would prevent partner being endplay in both black suits, besides no cost at this layout. Hx lead won't cost anything either, but partner would be puzzled when opponent runs all the heart tricks. Dx lead cost a trick right away, and partner still would be end play in black suits. ; thanks again for everyone's input, and i feel S8 seems more passive lead in matchpoint.

does anyone agree 4h bid from responder ? Qxxx AJx Qxxx xx, this is close to 9 loser hand, wasted DQ.

full hand if you are interested. Brd K97542 East 7 None A6 A952 AQJ3 T6 T98 K6542 KJ85 973 J3 QT6 8 AQJ3 QT42 K874 W N E S ================ P 1D 1S P P X P P P west overcalled 1s, and 1s x -3 with good defense.

yes, that was my reponse to friend, and same reasoning, 1) hand is too flat 2) Diamond K J x x is good for defense or we declear NT, but i don't like it in spade contract. 3) 4-3 fit at 2 level is not quite fun, and 4-4 fit at 3 level don't score well (parnter frequely raise to 3 level with 4432 shape) 4) occasionaly you get penalized when 4-2 at one level, and 4-3 fit at 2 level. however i was surprised to see the 1S gets a lot of vote here, and most of my friends vote for 1s either. and thanks for all the response.

this hand is from one of my firend, here is his question. imps both white, opps play 2/1 and better minor. RHO opened 1D, you are holding following hand, S: A Q J 3 H: 10 9 8 D: K J 8 5 C: J 3 what do you bid ?
-
i was kibitzer on this hand. i don't remember the bidding auction, it's fairly simple to reach 6s afterall, and opps all quiet. LHO lead small heart, RHO play HQ. And how did spades split? that's the task both declear fail to manage. they cash the SA to test spade before ruffing Diamond, which means they can no longer strips the red suits with enough entries to dummy. they both reach similar ending as phil described. i may not claim SA was error, but i feel that starting DA then ruff diamond high, and play S9 to dummy SJ seems cope both spade 1-1 and 2-0. shan

one interesting hand come up at bbo. would you find best line ? 6s by south, LHO lead low heart, standard leads. [hv=d=n&v=n&n=sj653h8daq82cjt87&s=sakq9872ha7d3ca92]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv]
