i like sitting at a table for hours playing card games. is it hard to find players that want to spend all day Saturday and Sunday playing bridge? there's poker games in my area that do this but i don't want to spend the hundred plus dollars just to buy-in to enable me to play.
we are dealer and have ♠ J 7 5 4 ♥A K 6 5 3 ♦A 5 3 ♣ J we have 13 points and a void. we are first to act. what should we bid and why? we dont have a balanced hand (i could be wrong) and in acol if we have 12-14 points and a balanced hand we should open with 1NT. (i could be wrong too on this).
Is playing online good practice and can teach you how to play good bridge? also reading about bridge. I'm going to play for 1 hour then study for 1 hour.
When I just read a bridge book I can't remember anything i just read. If I read and write down on what to bid and read it aloud and record it onto my phone of what i have written i seem to able to remember for a short time. 2 days later i can't remember anything. How do you study? How do you absorb whats written in the books?
if i have two 5 card suits and 0-9 points which suit should i bid? for example ♠ 5 7 10 K 2 ♥ 6 J 3 2 4 I have two 5 card suits and 4 points here in this spot (assuming i don't have more than 5 points in other minor suits) Should I bid the highest or lowest suit? meaning i should bid hearts 2H or should I bid 2s as the highest in this spot. if i had ♥ 6 J 3 2 4 ♦5 7 10 K 2 Should I bid diamonds or hearts? 2h or 2d?
If i have 0-9 points and a 5 card suit and partner has opened 1NT should we bid 2d,2s,2h or 2c in that spot? with 2c which is stayman should we be wanting to rebid 3c telling partner that we are trying to do a weak takeout in that spot? should we only bid 2c as a weak takeout if we have a 6+ club suit no less?
if partner opens 1NT which means he has 12-14 points with a balanced hand in ACOL and we have 13-18 points should we use stayman (2c) here in this spot? or just bid 3NT? thanks
