What about asking about Neopolitan Control (A=2,K=1) instead of QP's ? In my modified Moscito version , I start control asking in average in 3♦/3♥ and with a Control reply set up like : 1 step = 4 Controls 2 Step = 2/3 controls 3 step = 4 controls but with just 2 aces 4 step+ = zooming DCB with 5+ Controls I really think that Neopolitan Controls are far away from QP's in terms of accuracy and space What do you think ?

Hi, I'm actually studying Moscito structure and try to do my best to rebuild some sequences I really don't understand the point to play : 1NT = transfer ♣ (less than GF)? and 2♣ = transfer ♦ (less than GF)? I really think that theses 2 sequences are useless and take away 2 very important bids for nothing - Here's my structure regarding 1♦ opening ( showing ♥'s ) Comments and critizes are very welcome :rolleyes: 1♦ = NV 9-14H 4+♥'s - canapé possible VUL 12-15H I decided to split majors opening into 2 ranges regarding of vulnerability 1♥ = Symetric relay or 4♥'s with 10-12H balanced ( in that case you will break next step relay to raise ) 1♠ = 4+♠'s 0-11H 1NT = 0-11H 2♣ = 10-11H Balanced with 2 or 3♥'s ( opener can pass or correct to 2♦ if he get 4♥/5m) 2♦= a) 8-9H with 4♥'s balanced b) 9-11H with 4♥'s and a singleton c) 10-11 with 3♥'s + 6x 2♥ = Weak 3♥'s unbalanced or 4♥'s balanced - both with less than 8H 2♠ = 5♠ + 5m 11-13H 2NT to 3♦ = 4♥'s 7-9H splinter in ♠/♣/♦ As you can see 2♣ is 10-11H with a balanced hand - it work very well as opener can pass it , correct to 2♦ and immediately knows range of his responder - when he got 14 HCP he can react easily Weak hands with ♣'s are in 1NT like others natural systems - Weak hands with ♦'s can pass 1♦opening What do you think ?

As usual i'm in charge of BBO broadcasting of WBF events Regarding Philadelphia I can tell you some news : - we will start broadcasting on tuesday 5th , first match of the afternoon ( will be round 2) - we will broadcast 4 matches (8 tables ) during all round robin of rosenblum - we will broadcast ko phases of Rosenblum and Mc Connell event - we will broadcast all open pair final sessions and we add some youth world championship with it ( SF and final for sure) - Unfortunately we don't know yet time schedule because of late team registration - It seems to be 10.30am / 14.00 / 17.10 for starting time but it's not official at all - I will display all starting times as soon as I will know it For all theses broadcast we will allways follow 8 tables. If you have any comments or any questions regarding this broadcast , I will be please to answer questions throw this topic Enjoy Herve

What is the process for paying operators "to be broadcast every round"? what do you mean ?

Hi All , More informations about BBO Vugraph during WMSG in Beijing : We will broadcast 5 Matches for every round : 4 Matches from Open,Ladies and Seniors 1 Match from Youth I will keep you in touch sooner (or later...) See you ;)

No . choice of broadcasted matches are responsability of "officials members" of WBF, but I can interfere or make some proposition to them according to Roland. Main match is allways a top one - 3 others are free of charge for teams which will be broadcast All operators (6 chineses people & 2 french people) are paid by WBF for theses matches. In the other hand , if a team (Italy did it in the past) want to pay operators to be broadcast every round , there's no problem about it but they have to provide (or find) their own operators Of course , and for security reasons , we can't display as many as matches we can , because each broadcast need an individual box for it.

Hi all , I will be in charge of onsite and BBO vugraph during World Minds Game :rolleyes: We plan to broadcast 4 Matches in each round in Beijing. (main match + 3 others) As usual , I will be sure of this only when I will on site (September 30th). As Roland noticed , operators' problem is the key for broadcasting , but if chineses people who are in charge of finding operators are like in Sanghai , i'm not worry at all ;) I will keep you in touch as soon as I got more news for BBO Vugraph in Beijing.

you have to consider 2 other things : 1) we have to also broadcast Venice Cup and Seniors Bowl.....Shanghai is not only Bermuda Bowl event... 2) BBO is not the only broadcasting site here and we have to manage with other 2 site which have to pick some teams ( Japan team for example was pick up a lot in other site )

1) in the earlier match , WBF provide us 1-16 board dup files of course and NEVER provide us 1-32 dup files...they provide us 1-32 dup files when they will play board 17 at first. and only when we have already play 1 to 16..so we can't show board 17 when they play 1-16 because we don't have board 17 on any dup 2) of course i try to fill "number of board to start" at 17 when logging dup file but it doesn't work....as you said you have to delete first 1-16 board and i cant do that in the hurry....

Which security problem ? because when we use 17-32 boards in a 1-32 dup files we haved already played 1-16.... The problem is when you split a dup files ....players start at board 17 but BBO vugraph display board 1..... If you have a solution to start a broadcast at board 17 in a 16 board dup file i will take it :)

i don't think that there wil be any coverage of this event. People in charge of this event allways come to see me the day before or some hours before it (like in Estoril ) start to make me help them for the coverage. it would be very simple to come just 3 or 4 days before to set up it with me. I really think that they don't care about any broadcasting.

Hi all! I have arrived at Shangai for 2 days and the pressure starts to go up. This year I decided to try to make a blog on the championships and I would try to bring up to date it as often as possible… there will be videos and many pictures because unfortunately it will be exclusively in French…. Concerning the organization of Vugraph, we move towards a formula which would be: 3 matches/rounds the matches would be: 1) the official match on the site 2) a match which I can choose 3) a match which “would be bought” by a country which would like to broadcast his match we does not control the 1) nor the 3) ..... and I propose a poll through this forum to decide the 2) nevertheless the 3) will be from time to time free if no team “buys” a broadcast…. I would answer of course all your questions about Vugraph as soon as I would have a little time…. First 3 Matches are : China vs Argentina USA1 vs USA2 Norway vs Sweden While waiting do not hesitate to go to visit my blog… either to learn French….or try to recognize friends at the venue. Example : in viking Precision club you will open 1NT (11-13) when NV and (14-16) when you are Vul but despite the fact that i enter that requirement during editor mode ( so i got 2 1NT opening in my FD) , when i practice BBO didn't take care of vulnerability requirements... i will put you my fd : *00=NYYYYYY 001C=NNNNNNN00816+ . toutes distributions 001D=YYYYYYY00811-15 . naturel ou bicolore mineur ou zone en dehors de 1SA 001H=NYYYYYY05811-15 . naturel 001S=NYYYYYY05811-15 . Hi Denis ! Concerning Italy on all matches : Italian federation had paid accomodations for our operators here ( who are all volunteers for all vugraph ) , but we have to "follow" Italy ... Concerning Ireland and Pakistan , i promess you that they will be on Sunday broadcast ! Regards :) Hervé

Hi ! concerning 1) Uday can answer to it better than me...but i think that the previous scoreboards will be only reachable after the event when the database will be completed... 2) the boards facilities like the frequency of each deal and the result of that board in each match + the diagram will be ON during the KO stage... to answer to mrdct...i totally agree with you but the WBF met a "big scandal" 4 years ago in Maastricht because some boards of the round robin have been displayed on internet and some players reached them ( even if players have been escorted to the toilets )...i spoke to Jose Damiani and he was clear , he said to me : " no boards on internet because they don't play the same board at the same time...i don't want to face the 'chaos crisis' i met four years ago !! " and finally i understand him...Olympiads are the biggest event in the world and security problem is a key point for the credibility of that event... i will finish in saying that José Damiani is supporting a lot BBO in each wbf event and he allow us to be the 'official Vugraph' on site...thanks to him ! i know that it's frustating not to have all the features but i think that we have to proove that we are able to handle the security problem first... regards Hervé

Hi Folks !! Concerning the "new features" of the vugraph i want to give you some informations about how it works and why some features seems not good as you expected... I'm in charge of the Vugraph in Istanbul and believe me , everybody on the site ( i speak about more than 140 bridge teams ) are impressed by the work that Fred and Uday did during these 2 last months to display such a lot of informations to the players... you have to realize that there is 4 main screens in the theatre from BBO ( open room action , close room action + 2 screens displaying standings and scores updated boards by boards in real time )... But i have to give you some precisions regarding some points that maybe help you to understand what's happenning 1) WBF and Organizers here didn't want to display standings for the 3 first day during the play that's why standings screens were not updated at the beginning of the event..now it's ok and you can have the standings of each groups updated boards by boards but you must wait 2 or 3 boards before get them because the play restart before we have time to entered them all...so have just to enter the "standings feature" after 5 or 10 minutes or simply get out and re-enter at some time and you will see them and after they will update without any problem... for the first match of the day (we enter standings during the night ) there will be no delay and you can reach them immediately...for the second and third match sometimes they don't appear immediately but after 5 or 10 mns they will appear correctly... the Seniors event is not schedule at the same time ( they play 4 round per day ) and they appear just after the start ... 2) Concerning the scoreboards : the tournament director here decided that all tables will NOT play the same set of boards at the same time ( because they don't have so much set of boards ). so some tables start to play boards 1-10 and some tables start to play with board 11-20 ... But , and i think that you can easily understand why , for obvious security reasons , WBF and Organizers of the Olympiads have STRICTLY FORBID US to display ANY scoreboards during the play !! and , because all the screens we display here are also display on internet in the same time , Fred and Uday have changed this feature at the very last moment to answered the official request ....so there's no scoreboards for any matches in the Round Robin phase ( except sometimes at the end of each round ) and that's why we don't enter any line-up because scoreboards are not display anyway ! the "scoreboard" feature ( with complete line-ups ) will appear from the first board for every matches of the KO phase....and you will aprecciate it for sure 3) sometimes some scores stay to 0-0 and seems to be freeze : even if tables plays different set of boards ( 1-10 or 11-20 ) , tables from the same match normally play the same set of boards to get comparisons immediately : unfortunately a lot of caddies who are in charge of this have made a mistake and have put DIFFERENT set of boards at tables of a same match : so during half of the match we don't have any comparisons and the score stay to 0-0 4) i will just finish to help people who have difficulty to navigate throw the "features"...you can of course use "next" and "previous" or "stop" button but it seems more easy to use arrow key to move throw and the space bar to stop the scroll.....
