  1. You can't bid 4C, she'll take that as Gerber :P Sean
  2. 1NT - 2♦ - 2♥* - 2♠ for me also. The reason for the * is that you can have the really good news of a super accept here. Sean
  3. I have had a 7 high hand and unfortunately I was playing rubber bridge for money. Sean
  4. Funny hand, personally I would cue raise with the North hand. However I think a lot of people would find this bid more easily if North was already a passed hand, then noone would feel guilty about cue raising. Sean
  5. And this brings the question that any partnership should answer. Is there, or should there be a hand that is too weak for a 1♠ opening yet too strong for a weak 2♠ opening. Personally my answer is no, because partner will never pick you for the hand. Sean
  6. For me it is 2♥. Yes I would like a better suit, yes I would like a longer suit; but I have what I have. If I am to make game I see 4♥ as a more likely making contract. If 4♥ is not the spot I have 3NT as backup. If you swapped the red suits I would probably bid NT since I am a hell of a long way from 5♦ and much closer to getting doubled. Sean
  7. I am 4♣ over 1♣. Less sure about 1♠ but probably 4♣ since I am likely to "transfer" them into 4♠. I would be happier doing this with a singleton ♠ since then it is more likely partner might have more. Sean
  8. The only time I would even dream of saying "Take your time" would be if my partner has his back to the time clock and specifically asks me how much time is left in the round. Sean
  9. I pass, and if partner has the perfect trap pass hand for this I say sorry; I expect this maybe 2-3 out of 10 times. I will make a profit. There are so few redeeming features about my hand apart from the 2 As and 1 K I used to open this. No suit quality, not even a singleton in ♥; put the A somewhere else and leave me with the small singleton in ♥ and I might be tempted. It is a hand I am happy let them to play at the one level. Partner either has crap which means they have stuffed up, or partner has a monster with ♥s, or noone has anything more than a 9-11 count, or heavy point overcall and poor suit, or sort of good suit without high honours (J109xxx) and middling points. If first option, pass is good. If second option pass is bad, third option, let them play at the one level in what is likely a misfit, 4th option these often play like NTs and they have more points, 5th option partner has KQ874 of ♥ and 9-10ish and is borderline these can go either way. And you want me to commit to a penalty sequence at the one level? Sean
  10. WDNPG appeared on convention cards a lot when I used to play. Sean
  11. Hanoi5, Get in touch with Peter Gill, he will have the information. (He posted earlier in the thread) Sean
  12. I pass, if partner has real values instead of balancing values they might double again. Sean
