  1. We have been running games of this nature for the two years of the pandemic, and handling the distribution of boards by sending an email to the match host in the half hour before the match. Obviously someone could still analyse this file and cheat, but this approach limits the numbers who have access to the file, and nobody has raised any suspicion of cheating in that time. The one problem that has come up is this : a match gets delayed by a number of minutes, and what do people waiting about naturally do - they go and watch at their friends' table. Oops - if they are in the same league this is deals they are just about to play. You can avoid this with NO KIBS, but we have seen the occasional accident of this nature.
  2. I think this once happened to me and it was because although I changed to 7 rounds of 3 boards, I forgot to correct 20 boards to be 21 boards. Any inconsistency seems to trigger the system into choosing its own movement.
  3. The include list script (re)sets the user login (see top of that screen) so you might not be loading the second include list to the user you expect.
  4. What I see is the copy function working but the SAVED DEALS not pulled through, and I have to add them in again.
  5. It works well, I've used it a number of times.
  6. I had set this up for one evening but with running multiple tourneys at the same time there was inevitably a need to modify one of them (I think it started with an extra player not on the list, but late it was to delay things for a minute) and then the lists all got muddled up. I have resorted to a single list and telling people to register for the "correct" event.
  7. I have to say YEs and NO to this. Various of what is currently documented in the Laws is the compromise that was deemed the least harmful way forward in the face to face game. That might not be the best way in the online game. The approach should be thoughtful rather than dogmatic.
  8. I run multiple 2-table Howells for what's a bit like a Pairs Ladder, letting the top 4 pairs play amongst themselves, next four etc. Works just fine, and I can pull the results together using the latest BBOtoXML software when it is over. I had pondered using it exactly as you describe for teaching but have not done that yet.
  9. Is the host being online when the tourney starts a requirement for this to happen?
  10. In GCBA games in Gloucestershire, we have always allowed UNDOs but there was some controversy about UNDOs this week; in the spirit of "we play this game for enjoyment" we have issued this guidance to our players The default is that they are allowed but in a head-to-head match, if both captain agree, they can be switched off. You can cut the need for UNDO by using the setting to ask for confirmation of each bid or play, but some people do find that tiresome. If UNDOs are on, please only ask if you really did mis-click; you cannot ask for an undo because you played or bid too quickly and didn’t notice what the last player had done. If someone asks for an UNDO, please trust them and accept.
  11. I failed to get them all done in time on Monday, but using "BBO extractor" to prepare the results for Bridgewebs also allowed me to upload the results into EBUScorePairs and there I could make adjustments in slow time. The bidding/play on the relevant hands was available from BBO Hand Records. I was able to capture all the results immediately the event finished by taking the pop-up results window and hitting the button to make it a full web page, and then hitting refresh on that when the correction period finished. It has everything up to date then.
  12. And given that every table plays the boards in order, web mitchells are irrelevant.
