  1. The beauty about Fantunes is that they use 1-level open bids as forcing... so there is more room left to investigate the best contract with strong holdings...2-level open bids show intermediate hands typically unbalanced... and 1NT is 12-14.... In my opinion any hand with 12-13 HCP could be open-bid 1NT ..either balanced or offshape as long as there is no -5card major in it (5431, 5422 and 4441)... with 14 HCP unbalanced there would be no problem about open-bidding 1-level suit anyway..
  2. your putting x next to C, D, H, S seems to solve only one problem... e.i. converting Texts to the suits with the colors we want... However, it does not help changing those symbols back to the original after TOC have changed all colors to black.. So what we actually need is be able to change the color of symbols from whatever color they have been changed into back to their original colors as we want them.. Any code for clearing the wrong format and getting them back to the original state with the right colors?
  3. I managed to have method-1 work perfectly well, however, I couldn't have the method-2 work... Are there any further tips to have it work? I have actually copied the code and pasted in the modules then just run the code but no suit color has changed in my document. What I really need to do is to have the TOC back to its original form after it has turned all suit colors to black; by default when I happen to update it. Any suggestions are welcome !
  4. I am having a language issue ...I had downloaded BBO on my machine before I changed the language settings to Turkish.. So some of the fonts have not been changed properly to real Turkish characters... Even though I have removed and installed a new copy it was not fixed... I used to have it installed on my previous machine in Turkish so I know that it should normally bring all the fonts in the correct form... Any idea how to fix this problem?
  5. In any case the leagues would be self-governing by the members; once the tools are provided...just like organising team matches
  6. I wish we could possibly organise something like a league for teams on BBO? What I mean is the software's doing all the calculation of victory points, ranking the teams and pairing them up by sequencing them with respect to crosstables and bridge standards etc.. I think this would be quite exciting to play in a league on BBO and I believe this would help players feel more belonging to a distiguished community. So, I suggest the BBO's software developers to undertake that stuff as a new feature. Best Regards and HNY to everyone.
  7. I have HP IPAQ 914c which is working on windows mobile 6.1..Similarly, I have experienced the so-called blank screen problem as the others. After I have downloaded skyfire browser on my device it has started working perfectly. I have similar problems with my bank they are having hard time adapting their software to this windows mobile 6.1 version. I guess it is up to Microsoft guys to fix the bugs. Now, I am hoping to play bridge on my pocket pc ... Thanks to Fred.. :)
  8. if you are going to learn their system as a whole..no objection to that !....but taking a particular bit is of no use for sure !
  9. World Class examples do not hold to be a good comparison base though, since they elaborate too many special partnership agreements which support the systems in a wider scope. What we are talking about here are the general guidelines and suggestions which may apply to most partnerships; even to those partners playing for the first time. Of course, there is no single truth in bridge systems but meaningful approaches.
  10. Different strategies bring different styles of bidding. In IMP scoring we push the board to game however the final decision should be based on clear information; whether to play game/slam or penalize the opps. That's why we have to be more strict and abide the terms of minimum values and features of the hand required for open-bidding. My belief is such that we should not be below 12hcp when open bidding in the 1st and 2nd seat. As the second critical information to pard ; the nature of the hand should be such that it should promise at least 1,5 defensive tricks. Suppose we have the only values of AKQJx in ♣ and Qxx in ♠ reaching a total of 12hcp..We should never open-bid with such a hand in the 1st or 2nd seat when it comes to playing an IMP scoring match. The reason is that in the auction the bidding may reach such a critical stage that the responder should make the final decision..whether to play the hand , sacrifice or penalize the opps. That bit of information about the defensive nature of the declarer's hand becomes very critical in such a position. In MP scoring the story is quite different; since the main goal is not to sell-out the hand to cheap contracts we may open-bid with poorer hands and with less defensive nature; just to take advantage in part-score battling. So that the competition will find it more difficult to enter the auction. However, unlike the IMP strategy, concluding about the level of the contract is something taken with a more conservative approach.
  11. I would bid 2♦ showing the length together with the possibility of ♥ as the second suit to escape in case of not finding the fit
