Defensive Tricks In Pre-emptive Hands
calabres replied to FelicityR's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
For me the main rule of all preempts is where I am placed: In 1st seat: - My preempt can eventually cause trouble to my partner, but at the same time I am puting pressure over my opps. In 2nd seat: - My preempt should be construtive, because I have a Pass before, so the majority of the points will be in the hands of my next opp or in my partner. In 3th seat: - I can preempt in favour vulnerability with any trash, even with a 5 cards suit. In 4th seat: - I will preempt only with o good opening hand. -
Opening on junk

They are all clear opening hands. All of them have an easy rebid to any answer of my partner. -
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all BBO stuff, and a special season greetings to all Unibridge Club Members and TDs Aurora, Eva 47, Golfermike and Aclegend. Please be happy. IT'S AN ORDER.

Hello I don't use IE. My browsers are Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. I can open the VUG Schedule and BBO Forum, but can't open any NEW when I log to BBO. Can this problem be fixed? Regards

Some tools used by the best Hosts/TD's on BBO, I forget to mention, are the Chat Assistant or OKScriptX to sent the main announces during a Tournament. I love OKScritX that I adapted to BBO Windows version. I don't think those tools can be used on Web version, and not being possible, it will be very boring to TD's to make that using old way of copy/paste from a macro, insted to make the same with a simple hit on a button. Best regards

I have made translation to Portuguese of new web version. I regret to say, that I will never change from Windows version to Web version. Mainly as a TD, when I try to change any parameter of one of my tournaments in Web version, all the initial description is lost and tournament changes to something like that #??? Untitled. Very bad. and if one of my TD's is directing from Web version, if i am not in the Windows version, the simple fact if he/she add time to a round causes the same effect. Fred and BBO Stuff, please make the same efforts to make a better Windows version, like you are doing to the Web version. The 90% of BBO'ers using Windows version will appreciate. Happy Bridge

Private Clubs on BBO
calabres replied to wank's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I am 100% fan of Private Clubes on BBO. The main reasons are: - A group of players have the right to chose the persons to play with. - We see many tournaments made by TDs who have no idea of what they are doing. They dont know the basic bridge rules, so they have no skill to avalize situations at tables. What they make during tournaments is to send to tournament chat music links from youTube. - We often see posted tournaments saying "TD playing, no Adjustments". Any player looking for a good game will want to be in? Surely no. - Any Host, who wants to make a good job and a good service, must have the right to exclude from tournaments rude players, rushers, poker biders who disrupt normal scores, and most of all those that clearly and scary use non authorized methods. - A good Host or TD must make the home work, and after tournament finished must make a review of the movies. If you follow this, you will have a credible tournament where good and fair players will want to be members. If you dont, you will have just a one more tournament on BOO, but surely not a good one. Best regards -
Facebook turns on a disease
calabres replied to calabres's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Im still on Facebook. I dont consider it dangerous, if used and visited with moderation. Im only sad cause i see lots of people logged and dont appear on my club to play tournaments and socialize face by face with friends. -
My friends, please spend your free time here playing Bridge. Go rarely to your Facebook page. The last news say that Facebook turned on a serious drug called FAD – Facebook Addition Disease, lots of people are now on clinics curing the dependence, cause they suffer of high levels of stress if don’t visit their page for two or three hours.

Opener hold: ♥ Ax ♥ j8xx ♦ kj ♣ kj9xx Responder hold: ♥ 987xx ♥ AKxxx ♦ xxx Bid goes: 1♣-P-1♥-P-1NT-2♥-P-P-P Some player defend opener must bid 3♥ Others defenf responder must bid 3♥ For me reponder must make a checkback? Please be my guest and let me know your opinion. Thanks

Dear Tech Support, Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable programs such as NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system. Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail. What can I do? Signed, Desperate. DEAR DESPERATE, First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system. Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.HTML and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that application works as designed, Husband1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6. 1 is a very bad program that will download the Gas and Snoring Loudly Beta. Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.) In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0-program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0. In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Cooking 3.0 and Hot Lingerie 7.7. Best Wishes Babe! Tech Support

Misclick....Undo....Change of mind.....Undo
calabres replied to calabres's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Hi folks I am very happy with all comments and suggestions above. But be sure, in all my tournaments a will always ALLOW UNDOS. Reason? I can give you lots, but you all know them. JUST A JOKE:  Other day I was playing in a tournament where Undos not allowed. I always play carefully, use good mouse and never surfing in the net while playing. But......my God......instead of PASS, my cat walk over the keyboard and a DBL appears, followed by a propper RDBL. Of course the Tournament was ruined, a desappointed partner cause contract made RDBLed with an overtrick. JUST A QUESTION:  Must all people play online closed in a room? No kids, no pets, no wife......just like in a JAIL. I will never close myself :D
