  1. Very well, this is the correct answer. When this deal was played /playing udca/ south discarded a small club on the fifth diamond, leaving little clue on where his values were. As north, holding [hv=s=sah52dck8]133|100|[/hv] I did not know what to discard on the last diamond. In practice I took the extra chance that declarer did not have the situation clear to him (in excess to partner holding the K♠) and choose to discard a heart on the last diamond. This left declarer with a play toward his king for the game. Partner later excused himself for not reading the situation and dropping the Q♠ to deny any spade values, and at the same time waking me up if I had not noticed that I would be in trouble on the last diamond.
  2. I can tell you that there is something behind this problem. As a tip I can tell you that I played this deal in the North seat.
  3. [hv=d=w&v=n&w=sj84h63daqj982ca6&s=sq75hk94d7653cqt2]266|200|Scoring: IMP 1♦-1♥-1♠-2♥ 3♦-3♥-3NT-All Pass [/hv] Declarer holds up the A♥ to the third round, discarding a spade from the table. Declarer then cashes the diamonds, starting with ♦Kx from hand. Partner pitches two small clubs and two small spades, declarer one club and two spades before you have to discard something. What is your discard on the fifth round of diamonds?
  4. Maybe there could be an option "Autoplay last trick".
  5. I suggest that, if it is possible, the screen saver to be disabled when in the vugraph theatre, so that I dont have to to touch my mouse every now and then when watching. I dont know how hart it is to do, but I know some movie players (including Windows Media Player) does this when playing a movie.
  6. I suggest a volume control to be introduced in sound customization. I like to play mp3s while playing, but as it is now the BBO software is very loud, even if I set the mp3-player to max volume. I dont want to turn BBO sound completley off either, I like to hear the cards beeing played. To the best of my knowledge this mod should be very easy to do.
  7. I think this is a good thing to try. Perhaps it would not discurage the worst abusers, but at least it can do no harm. And since it can do no harm, the detection algorithm need not be perfect.
  8. Perhaps an automagic babelfish translation would do it :D
  9. If I start typing a chat message beginning with a non-standard character (I have not done any comprehensive research in the area, but in my case it's å, ä and ö, but I suppose it goes the same for many other, like ü) the chat box will not be initiated by the first character, resulting in that it is left out. Of course it's not so much work to press 'Home' and fill it in, but it would be nice if it was fixed eventually. Thanks for an incrediable effort in making and maintaining BBO --- and keeping it free. :D
  10. I would like to divide the question into two parts: 1. Is the rebid forcing in a temorary partnership? 2. What is the most sound treatment for a "natural" system in general? My answer to the first one is that it is forcing. There are drawbacks, but there is less risk that your p will be upset if you end up in a hopless 4♠ after 1♦-1♥-1♠-2♠-4♠, than if you pass down a making game. My opinion on the second one is that I think it is better off as non-forcing, but it heavily depends on what you promise with a 1/1. I am in favour of bidding 1/1 with as little as 0 hcp (especially when using 5-card M) to rescue a vulenerable disaster. However, the probelm with this treatment is that you risk a 2NT respons, showing 18--19 balanced, which is also a disaster. Now, in my current partnership we are evaluating concealing most 18--19 balanced in the 1M (4-card showing) rebids, with the only risk of playing your 5+-card suit (which you always have on a rescue operation like 1m-1x-2NT-3x) on the three level.
  11. I suggest an option (checkbox) for the team games to swap opponents in half-time. This would make a team-game a match between the two teams, rather than two separate pair matches.
