I voted for the windows version. This is based on that it is the only way i can use BBO during work. I cannot log in using the flash version, always get the error connection lost. Probably due to restrictions in my company firewall. Taking about 2 minutes to log in into the windows version as well. :(

Changing to sat.bridgebase.com did the trick. Thanks Uday for quick answer.

Same problem here. But I refuse to change any settings because my settings have worked for years now. As a programmer I don't change anything that works! I assume something has happened on the server side that hopefully will be fixed within a short time.

Cannot be right Ben. I tried to search for Hamman in this file: "C:\Bridge Base Online\hands\usafrance.pbn" . It returned I think about 8 positive results, all like this which was 1st result: [North "Hamman"] I think Denis is right. What you found was a PBN file, note the name ""C:\Bridge Base Online\hands\usafrance.pbn" PBN File format is quite different. See the names are stored quite differently in pbn files... here they are stored one per line like this: [West "fred"] [North "andych"] [East "inquiry"] [south "csdenmark"] Notice the difference. And importatly, the quote marks are handled as spaces by the windows search routine, so if you search for text Fred and the text reads, It will find fred just fine (periods are handled well too, it is just strings that are not easily identified as words that are a problem). I suggest you do this claus.... Click in start menu in windows Click search (I think it is find in some earlier version of windows choose all files and folders Enter *.lin for the file type Enter csdenmark under "a word or phrase in the file" then press search... And think about the hundreds or thousands of lin files you have on your computer and see how many YOU find, I dont know exactly what I am doing here , but this file I found 32 hits. I have no search option clicking start I think. I entered instead Windows Explorer. searched for *.lin and found 913 hits for that. I chose this one: "C:\Bridge Base Online\hands\usafrance.lin", opened in Wordpad and via search option I got 32 hits for Hamman First hit found in this line: pn|Wolff,Multon,Hamman,Mouiel,Levy,Meckstroth,Mari,Rodwell|pg|| Voila - happy for the result - but I don't really know if that is what we are talking about Ben. Have I found new options for LIN-files or misunderstood something? If you read andych second post you might get a grip what the problem is. Let's say you have 2000 Lin-files on your drive, and you want to look at those files that have the name Hamman in it, then you can't find out which one to open through Windows search tool. If you enter *.lin and the name Hamman you will get 0 hits even if there are 300 files that have the name Hamman in it. Of course you can only search on *.lin, which you did, and get a couple of hits but how fun is that :). I have also found this a bit annoying, especially when surfing through old vugraph files.

I doubt that the problem is on the ISP-side. I have had problem connection to bbo for quite a long time actually. But almost never encounter any problem with any other internet services. It turned out that when the db file gets big (> 700 kb) I get kicked out and can't get back in again (I see the lobby but then I get flushed). It's impossible to get a reliable connection (for a while) until i delete the db file once again. I don't think that the db file is the problem at all, however there is a conflict somewhere that makes the connection go down and the db file is involved in a way or another. On my computer, which is XP pro sp2, I have F-secure Antivirus, F-secure Anti-Spyware, .Net framework 2.0 and a bunch of developer programs. I will try to create an empty db file which is write proteced and I will also set the whole Bridgebase folder to write-protected. I know for sure that .Net framework has some flaws when it comes to security and accesibility to folders and files. Maybe this will help.

Hi. I've encountered lot of disconnects problem with my computer at work. I gets logged in but gets kicked out after some seconds, the automatic reconnect push me back in. A couple of seconds later I get kicked out and the automatic reconnect push me back in again. You get the picture. I have tried lot of things with firewall, ports, antivirus and so on. Nothing helped before I deleted the db file? After I deleted it I got a stable connection for longer periods. Approx. 15 minutes long sessions before I got kicked out. Anyone knows what to do, or anyone else who experience the same problems?

If you really want to to print exactly (C) then you have to do like this (maybe there is an easier solution, but this is what I know anyway). Instead of a ( write & # 40; with no spaces. Instead of a ) write & # 41; with no spaces. AND! Don't preview! If you do you must write what I mentioned above once more. Regards Fredrik

Got the same error and reinstalled as well (before Gerardo wrote the shorter solution). However, I am curious why this happened at the same time to a bunch of people and not to others with the same version?

Answers to your question. If I open the IDE and don't run my project it wont crash. But as soon as I have runned a C# program BBO will crash, even after I have stopped the C# program. And this resist as long as my IDE is open. Help me find a game does not work at all. I got a blank window and after a while a standard IE error (Problems with page). I guess that is some kind of firewall problem. Regarding ATL.dll, I have a couple yes. About 10. I installed the noATl version. Pressed news and nothing happened. Pressed find me... Got the window saying. http://bridgebase04.bridgebase.com:81/wiz/...viks=723859|=09 But since I don't use HelpMeGet... and news is not a big issue this version is better for me at least.

Hi Uday. I still have problems with my BBO client and those IE popups(news). When there are news and I close the box I get "BBO must be shut down". I have analysed it too see if there is a pattern somehow, because I don't get it everytime, and it all boil down to this; I am using Visual Studio.Net in my daily work (don't tell my boss I am using BBO during working time, pls) and the language I use is C#. Everytime I have a project running (e.g open) and start BBO and there is news it shuts down. However if I close my .NET environment and start BBO it works ok, so I can certainly live with it. But if you know why this behaviour occur maybe you could tell me. Could be in interesting ;) feature I could use! Regs Fredrik Jangvik

Happened to me as well. Everytime a card was played I got that message box... Then I logged out, logged in same thing, logged out, logged in same thing, logged out, logged in and horray I saw the cards and everything worked!

Easy. 1. Fantoni - Nunes (No one will/can beat them) 2. Bocchi - Duboin (The italians are the best right now) 3. Johnson - Meckstroth (If there are many 3NT boards, they will be in top 3. Else place 20 something) 4. Balicki - Zmudzinski (Here or they will be dead last) 5. Fredin - Lindkvist (Go Sweden!) 6. Hamman - Zia (Because Zia is Zia and Bob is Bob)

I found a bug. If I use the new join xxx table and he is in a middle of a team match there are no scores from the boards that are allready played.

Swedish Team Trials

I can answer that. The reason is that the Swedish Captain Jan K wants to see how good the (Swedish) participants can perform against international players. -
Compliments to Hrothgar
Jangvik replied to Chamaco's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Right on spot. This game needs characters that stands out. These players does not need to be world class at all. I believe, for example, that the most famous bridge player outside the bridge world is Bill Gates. We need more people like that.
