  1. https://tinyurl.com/y4uur34o I was not sure what the difference between my pass, redouble, 5nt, and 6h would be, since no explanation was provided. I guess that should have been a red flag I claim to understand most of GiB's logic - however, I cannot understand why it would pass here.
  2. 2♥ - by getting the primary support of your chest immediately, the partnership is better placed in the rest of the auction, and you may hinder a light overcall from E. If you choose 1♠, you may forever have buried your fit if it goes 1♠ - (2♣) - pass - (3♣).
  3. Gib does indeed play Lebensohl over 1 NT (and weak 2's, also). As for Cappelletti, it's just one of a zillion defences against 1 NT - different people prefer different methods, and some may argue that using natural overcalls in its inflexibility is equally silly. Cappelletti is a quite commonly used convention (not a quality in itself, I know.) Nothing is ever sure in bridge- or Gib-world ;). FMO, the fast route to 3NT after intervention denies a stopper... Gib's system is found here - there's also a link to a convention card
  4. That ♣4 looks fishy - maybe a singleton. ♠ lead maybe even one, too - since ♦ look like the natural lead on the auction. Anyway, the clubs have been solved and you can afford another trump loser: I would play the ♥Q.
  5. [hv=pc=n&s=shq9dk92ckjt87632&w=saqj65ht4dj654ca4&n=s72hak876daqt3c95&e=skt9843hj532d87cq&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=4c4sppp]399|300[/hv] IMPs across the (intermediate) field. We as N/S didn't really get into heated arguments and mostly blamed West's gutsy (!) overcall. Would you have done anything differently?
  6. I misread the options... I read it as "Uhm, double??????!!!!!" Anyway, that one vote was misplaced. Edit: And can't change my vote :-).
  7. [hv=pc=n&s=st8haq64dajckqj42&b=1&a=p1sdp2sp]200|300[/hv] What do you expect from the 2♠ bid? Does it promise another bid? What is your bid now?
  8. Don't need forcing bids later: 1♥ - 1♠ - 2♥ - 6♥ :) But... if you want forcing bids they're not hard to find. After 1♥ - 1♠ - 2♥, then 3♦, 3♣, 4 NT and 4♦(available if you cuebid 2nd round controls) are forcing. Bidding 2♣ on that may have established a GF, but it's also established a mess. By bidding 1♠ you get more room for exploring strain and level. If partner rebids 1NT, it's more likely you belong in NT (and you can still force by using XY-NT or the like...) If partner rebids 2♥, you've found a fit at the 2-level. And another bonus: You don't need to lie about ♣/♠ length and strength like you do when bidding 2♣ and rebidding ♠... In my partnership it might have gone like the first sequence of my post - not the craziest of punts. An alternative: 1♥ - 1♠ - 2♥ - 4♦ (denies ♣-control) - 4♥ - 4♠ - 4NT etc.
  9. Vugraph is already available to the iWorld (But maybe this wasn't what you meant). www.bridgebase.com/mobile
  10. And too kind of you not mention MY misplay ;). Guess we were both under a little time pressure...
  11. From my experience, GiB uses 2♦ as the catch-all minimum rebid after 1♦-2♣
  12. Please disregard (and delete this post) - found the "send robot report" button :-). For the curious: Forward to trick 11
  13. Obvious to whom? 1♠ - X - P - 2♣ P - 2♦ - all pass (assume 2♣ bidder isn't minimum) Obvious to some: doubler and partner are playing ELC Obvious to others: ELC means "Equal Level Conversion" Obvious to even others: Equal Level Conversion means that double followed by a suit bid need not be strong and/or forcing Obvious to even others again: The benefits of Equal Level Conversion is that you can double on some hands that would normally have to pass or make a skewed overcall Obvious to... etc. Sometimes you need to explain what is obvious to some - but not to others. A good trick is to imagine that you're speaking/writing to a specific someone you know - and preferably not a world class player. :P
