  1. paulg Thanks for your reply Respectfully..I beg to differ...for the following reasons 1. I am not taking anything away from existing functionality - I am giving another option to the players who chose to do so 2. As mentioned before = This will also take away the song and dance routine meaning potentially I may be inviting 3-4 players and still eventually end up without a partner. 3. I am not convinced about your argument for absent players...to me, if you have registered at the partnership desk, it explicitly implies that you are available and willing to play 4. I know this is simple as I work in IT and may not know the exact code but have a fairly good idea about the generic process Thanks again
  2. This may or may not have been discussed before I would like an enhancement in the software whereby, for pairs - whether Pairs required tournament or Team matches or Swiss teams - an option should be given to players that. when they register at the partnership desk - they can opt for themselves to be automatically matched to another player - either based on BBO algorithm or something else. Remember - this does not take away anything from the existing functionality whereby you are free to invite partners of your choice but takes away the sending/accepting invites for those players who do not want to go through this song and dance. Probably an opinion poll can be taken among BBO players as to the desirability of this feature. based on my limited knowledge it should be a simple and quick fix Thanks
  3. Sorry..here is the explanation When I submit my name to partnership desk (whether pairs or swiss teams) - my name/profile has a tag that says I am consenting to be paired automatically = that's it - I do not have to do any more invite/acceptance - there in lies the simplicity and saving Thanks
  4. jandrwew you probably didn't ready my post thoroughly. it says "if agreed to and consented" by the player requesting a partner Thanks
  5. For the love of Gods (bridge ones) I can't understand why BBO has an arcane system of inviting partners - it is a simple software fix, where, If the player, putting his name in the partnership desk, agrees to and gives consent - he should be paired automatically with a partner based on BBO's compatibility algorithm or some such thing. Why go through an extra step of inviting someone ?
  6. Paul Thanks for your reply - That makes sense A further improvement would be to give host the option - he can either keep it restricted (for his friends/team mates) or keep it open - then, anyone can join by clicking on the 'Open' seat - saving permission reply by host Thanks again
  7. I am not sure if this feature is there or not - if yes, please let me know If not, this is desirable - basically, what i want is that for team games - currently all the open positions are locked and I have to click on one and get permission to join - which, if is not the intention of the host, I don't want to bother him/her - what I would like is to have an open position being signified as such so that I can just click and join - without inconveniencing the host Thanks
  8. This is my first post so please bear with me if I am not able to post the hand I was sitting south against a 5C contract and I was squeezed in the end - could I have avoided it ? My link
