This seems to happen after the scores are reset. Can somebody indicate if this is deliberate or accidental, and if it can be switched off?

The history score is the score at the time just after the hand is played, while the box score is continually updated after other hands are played. If you click on "refresh" at the bottom of history, it will update.

When logging in to BBO, could you please display the software version after "Bridge Base Online Home" When I login (through windows) I get a bridgebase.com/v3/ displayed as the address - I hope that does not mean I am back on version 3. This is standard good programming practice, and has been for decades. Also, it is very easy to do.

With only the queen as defence against the opponents running spades, that seems very risky

While I would not bid that myself, I would not be upset with a partner who bid that way because 1) Going straight to the final contract denies information 2) The hand is a bit stronger than what is needed for game opposite a 1 Spade open 3) The final contract is obviously going to be in spades 4) Distributional hands often do better than expected 5) There is no convenient way to find out about duplicate values while forcing to game.

In my (limited) experience, the best thing to do when you have an excellent fit with an opponent is pass. Anything bid with the hand will almost surely go down, and if there is any sort of club fit with partner 3NT can be in bad trouble. I would lead my fourth best club, and hope that declarer is hoping to run good hearts, or spades and partner has lots of them.

When I started playing, a double of an interference bid basically meant that you would otherwise have bid what the opponent bid. That is 2 Clubs 2 Hearts double meant that the doubling player would have bid 2 hearts absent the opponent bid. Today I would basically mean a penalty double.

When I was starting out at bridge, my teacher told me that a double of a preempt was usually for penalty. Now it is often a takeout. My bid would depend very much on the partnership agreement.

According to the convention I was first taught, the first double would mean you had hearts - a double after partner's first bid followed by an opponent bid meant that the opponent had bid what you would have bid if he passed. My (non expert) take on only chance - Ace of hearts, ruff a heart Lead King of clubs, planning to throw diamond loser. Ruff if covered with Ace Lead Queen of clubs if still in dummy, throwing another diamond if not covered. if LHO covers with club Ace, there is a trump left in dummy for a last entry - even if LHO leads back diamond. If RHO covers with Ace, after ruff there are two entries in dummy. This line seems to give some sort of chance of making, although much can go wrong - both unexpected ruff and running out of entries to dummy.
