  1. Hello everyone, i had a discussion once, it was between these 2 sequences : 1C 1H 1S 2D 2N 3D what could be the difference with 1C 1H 1S 3D Btw, I do not know how you see 4th forcing in the US, but in France it is not game forcing. Anyway, everyone in france plays the second auction showing game forcing strength and the 2 suits shown are of good quality. For instance : AKJxx x AQxxx xx would be treated as in auction 2. Auction 1 was weird. Why bidding 2d then 3d. It must be natural. But you could not bid 3D before. the only reason is that the hand is big but the D quality is not. Like this : AKJxx A Jxxxx Ax The idea is to warn partner about losers there before going to far.
  2. hello. I too will play my LHO for 4 ♠. So i d try this way : K♠, K♥, and 7♣ letting it ride (if clubs are 33 no problems, if they are 42, you may take H8 on your left, and H8xx too) . If RHO wins with an honor and lazily plays ♠ i may have a free finesse in ♥ or a trick developped in ♦. I am not sure this is the best line though...what if RHO plays a ♦ after your ♣ play ? still if KQ ♦ are stacked behind, it seems 2NT was doomed.
  3. Hello, Thank you for the answers. My concerns were about 5♣ from the opponents, i mean : 4♠, p, p, 5♣. Now what will you bid ? As i had no idea, i would like to find a way to transfer the decision to partner, that is showing ♠and ♦ a way or another. Is that unreasonable after the X from responder ?
  4. Speaking about oddity, we could begin a contest with the biggest differences between the best NS score and the worst NS scores. And i m sure we would always be beating the records day after days ;)
  5. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sk109732h32daq82c2]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] The auction, with West Dealer, in IMP Pairs, NS vulnerable : 1♣ 1♠ X. What is your bid ?
  6. Ok, thank you all for the answer, i see that many roads were taken, which should mean it was not trivial anyway
  7. No ! Did not realize it at the time. I would have bid 2!d actually. The hand was given to me after the auction had begun 1!d 1!h 3!d. But i disagree with it. so 1!d 1!h 2!d 3!c 3!d and then ?
  8. [hv=d=n&n=sk54hdak95432ck102&s=sa73haq732d8caqj3]133|200|[/hv] Playing a natural system how would you bid these 2 hands with North dealer, and no bids by the opponents. The beginning of the auction as i see it : 1♦ 1 ♥ 3♦ 3♥ 3NT 4♣ 4♦ 4♥ 4♠. Now we want to sail to 6 ♣, but i guess not everyone will agree on this auction, and everyone may choose another way afterwards.
  9. Hello, I posted this hand, and saw only one player agreeing with me. My reasoning is like this : with the spades and the diamonds inverted i am sure many would think about 6 Spades. and why would it be easier to score 12 tricks in spades than in diamonds ? So i am going to look for 6 Diamonds. But a 9 card spade fit suits me pretty well => i bid 3 Clubs. If i hear 3 Spades i am going toward 6 Spades, if i hear 3 hearts i ll slow down. I m not sure actually. I may bid 5 Diamonds as a sign off. If i hear 3 Diamonds, that good news with 7 cards in the minor, and the Diamonds played by partner. 4 Diamondswould then be the 'correct' answer (to me) but i bid 6!d to avoid giving too much information. I agree this could be wrong though, and prefer 4!d in theory...
  10. I disagree, you do not assume 13-13-7-7 because in average an opening bidder does not have 13. He can have 12 to 22, and even if he will have 12 more often that 22, on average he will have more than 13. so, the number of points hold by opener being stronger, that changes the balance, increasing the chances his side is attacking
  11. Let me understand. Is 3NT non forcing for you ? Because in France it IS non forcing
  12. Hello Everyone, I had this hand some days ago : 98xxx - KQJ10xx xx We were playing imp pairs. I was dealer, love all. I passed, LHO passed, partner opened 2NT, and RHO passed. What would you bid now (your p is a casual partner, you have no special agreement) ?
