I don't understand the squabbling given smerriman's response that 2H is 3+C, 4+H. Now, I am not able to see what smerriman is suggesting when I click on ANY bid in the diagram. I doubt it is a problem with my computer or browser. I think the hand was posted using a "minimal" hv= instead of the maximaLOL hv=. Well Helene. I gave the matter some thought. There is a fuzzy weird warped logic for trying 3 NT. Partner is limited. 2 of 12 hcp are the dQ. So if one has to bid game after the bidding it seems like a shot at 3NT is not bad. pd may have jxx, Txxx, Ax(x) etc. Or the d bidder may duck to keep communication. So GIBBO takes a chance. vrock

In money bridge when the solitary opponent thinks too long, I am paranoid enough to imagine they have a copy of GIBBO into which they quickly enter the hand and base subsequent actions on GIBBO. Is this even possible? vrock

Thanks all for your responses. 100% my fault for bidding 3C. The moment I bid it and LHO GIBBO jumped to 4H I knew he had AQ of clubs :) and had started to kick myself. And more kicking after MyGIBBO doubled. Why in tarnation GIBBO assumes if pd has 16-21 "points" it is always 21 "points" is beyond me. Still 200% my fault. Don't quite know if I posted the one where they supported diamonds, we had agreed on a major and headed to game and GIBBO in all its glory on Qx in diamonds bid 3NT showing a stopper in D. Knowing it tends to do that when trumps are weak or HCP count might be lower than expected, I passed. down 2 or 3 vulnerable. But I agree with what you wrote Steve. vrock

well said nige1. The fundamental effort was quite phenomenal. The buyer of the fundamental effort should have negotiated post-sales support with the creator. Or the buyer should have done it themselves or realized based on some level of beta-testing that this would be expensive to fix. I had hot arguments with the buyer 10 years ago when GIBBO started MoneyBridge. Buyer was arrogant and unhelpful. As far as I am concerned all they had to do was provide recourse. I have pretty consistently maintained GIBBO is out of resources and this was pooh-poohed by the cognoscenti. It is the difference between vertical applications and horizontal applications where vertical is one instance of the app running while horizontal is several instances of the app running. The former requires expensive hardware. vrock

I meant 6+ "points". Tough to remember all the options. I do remember for sure 4NT was 6+ points. I don't remember length. Most of what I looked at seemed to 6+ points. I don't remember if I tried 3S. vrock

Not sure of HCP if 4C. This time GIBBO was almost right. Showed club stopper, h stopper while upward bound. For all it knows you have shapely 10+ HCP (which it opens on all the time). So it is being descriptive and showing a balanced hand. ok, ok it does have 5S. Not every 5-5 spade fit will make. Given 3NT is showing this, I (very sorry) assign 100% blame to 1S opener. I rarely agree with GIBBy. 4D or even 4C is kosher here. vrock
