  1. Sorry for the repeats. Didn't look like it was sending.

  3. The real problem is your system's NT range. It is counterproductive. NT ranges should be no more than 3 points in range. I could design hands with your range where game is pretty much hopeless (KQJx QJ Qxx KJxx) and hands where 7C is cold (AKxx xxx Axx AKJx) with this same range. Systems that allow for that kind of ambiguity just don't work. Fix your NT range and you won't have these issues.

  7. Oops. Got my minor suit bidding backwards on second hand. Probably has something like AJT KQx AKxxx Qx or AT9x KJxx AQJxx x.
  8. First double is, "I have values, but no clue where this supposed to be played. Make a decision for us." Giving you a chance to bid 3N if you have spades stopped/double stopped (or leave in for penalty). Second is penalty. Probably has something like AJT Qxx Qx AQxxx. If you are void in spades, expect partner to have four with something like AT9x Kx Kx AJTxx.
  9. Figures an Eagles fan would consider opening this 1N :) But first priority in game bidding is to reach 4 of a major. And by lying about your major suit length with a 1N bid, you go completely against that. Plus you are lying about your point count. 1N is a recipe for disaster as much as having Bradford or Sanchez as your QB. But feel free to bid 1N on that when you play against me. Tony Romo
  10. Partner went to 4S after the horrible 2S bid which severely undervalued the hand (first bid should have been a splinter of 4C, although I am ok with 2D also showing a limit raise+). So 5S should be a no brainer. Unless partner is a maniac, that terrible 2S bid probably cost a chance at slam.
  11. Not opening 2C was correct. Yes you have 20 points, but you have a five-loser hand, not good enough for 2C. So the options now: your hand is better than 3D which is in the 15-18 range. So that is out. You couldn't open 2N because of your shape, so rebidding 2N which now lies about your shape AND points is definitely wrong. A jump shift shows the value of your hand, but the only suit you can jump shift into is clubs, which if not ideal so I would pass on that. So to me, the only viable options are a reverse into 2S or make a game-forcing heart raise. Yes you could be in a 4-3 heart fit, but your ruffing clubs with the short trumps, so that should be ok. So what is the best game forcing bid in hearts? Personally I like a Swiss 4D showing a heart raise with a diamond suit that is a source of tricks. The advantage here is that it keeps 5D (which may be the only making contract) viable. But I have a lot of sympathy for 2S because 3N is where you might need to be and you can still show heart support later. The thing I don't like about 3N is that partner has to bid it exposing your hand.
