OMG

If atleast one dice is a six then it is a constant not a variable as if it is not rolled at all.The chance of other dice to hit a six is 1/6.
-
What 2♥ by East would have shown instead of 1♥?After ♦ bidding by West,East can reasonably expect for 4♥ play even with doubleton ♥honours with West.
-
Indeed there is no safe line.Another line of play is take ♣A,♥A & exit a ♥.After taking their 5 tricks if East leads 3rd ♣ ruff high, ruff a♥,cash ♠A,ruff a♣high & take ♠ finesse through West -it will be successful whenever West held ♠10 even if he held ♣xx.So for different line of play to succeed ultimately it boils down to how many ♣ West holds or position of ♠10.

Double or bid (or go gentle into that good night)?

By opponents bid & not doubling,North is expected to have 13/14 pts.For a slam South requires ♣A,♦KQ,♥K(or QJ assuming ♥K with East) & also second round control of♠ with North which imo is not possible to verify if there is no prior agreement so likely possibility is to reach game.
-
You can ruff ♥ only twice & they have already taken 5 tricks.
-
Not so simple, somebody may have ♠10xx & may overruff 3/4 ♣ or 4th ♥.As East shown 3carder♥ you are to ruff 4th♥ high.So you are to preserve one high ♠ in hand to take two trump tricks. If they return a trump,it is easy as you are getting a free finesse. But if they continue with ♦,♣,♥ you either have to assume West has 3carder ♣ or finesse ♠10 /assume its position in East or West hand.

That was my point also.If the understanding is they can overcall in vulnerable condition with West's hand then East's was an overbid otherwise West's call was totally gross.

I'm not a U.S citizen but watching Trump, imho he is not that dumb & bufoonish as he is posturing. He is extremely sly & result driven person.Who would have given two hoots for him if he has not positioned himself in the limelight by his strategy of obnoxious utterences & loutish behaviour? Like it or not he is now a central figure in american political arena. As he is a result driven person without any political philosophy, he will go to any extent to garner votes by exploiting sentiments of his target vote blocks.A person who has heavy overseas investments atleast has some understanding of international politics but he postures otherwise. He is no idiot but an extremely cunning man.

Not necessarily when North is interested in slam after 1H by South & a proper distributive hand with South even on 2pts may lead him to a reasonable slam.2D cue is indicative of that.If South reads North's 2D cue properly then 2s-2nt-3h will show his distribution & help North reach 6H.
-
Notwithstanding West's opening hand, does'nt cue bid by North indicate super acceptance of ♥ with a slam interest? What he will bid with AKXX-AKXX-X-AKXX?
-
In the cited hand East was doubling with a single A opposite a preemptive hand?North's 6c bid pretty much guarantees 1st round H control & seeing his own hand East knows finesse will be successful in S if required at all .

Another possibility is West may be void in ♦ as he did'nt lead it & his vulnerable overcall with poor suit & points. His hand may be Kxxx -Qxxxxxx-nil-Qx, East may be 10xx-Jxxx-AKxxx-x.In that case ♠ to Q then ♠A, ♠J etc discarding ♦ from hand.
-
As ♣8 is also with opponents, only chance is to take a deep finesse in ♦ to cater to West's 4card ♣holding. It only loses when singleton or doubleton D10 is offside.
-
If East covers on 4th ♣,how do you proceed?Better to discard ♥ & guess ♠.If East shows out on clubJ discard a spade,if East follows ClubJ low discard a Heart.
-
Trump unblocking may not be required when you are assuming East has♥Qxx. Cash ♠A,ruff a♥,come to hand by ♠K, play♥K.

Actually tripleton♠10/doubleton♠10 probability is 60/40 ,so if you ruff 2♦ there is 60% chance that they will take 2 tricks in ♠. ♥finesse is having a 50% chance of loosing.

Which suit do you start on?

Who gave you the devine authority of judging a player's position in history ? You either point out the fault or shut up.Do'nt add obnoxious adjectives which only insults a person & shows your upbringing. This is applicable to your minions also. -
Live bridge frustration
alok c replied to lcsmw's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Imho Chess has a gold standard (ELO rating) worldwide by virtue of that, lowly tournament players can know their position in the chess universe & can thrive to improve their position in a systematic way.Older generation Bridge players used to be patient & courteous which used to attract new players, nowadays many early middle aged players are so abrasive & knowitall that they repel new entrants. It may be one of the reasons for decline of Bridge.
