  1. Why don't you bid 5NT - asking high honors in trumps? Partner has an ace so he bids 7h.
  2. I think the global standard is that dbl shows no spades (usually no heart stoppers too) and 1♠ shows 4+ spades. This is b). I play that dbl shows 4+ spades and 1♠ is transfer to NT, without 4 spades. Such transfers in defence are really useful, because NT is played from better hand. This is c). Before I use to play transfers, I had bidded dbl as exactly 4 spades and 1♠ as 5+. It makes finding a spade suit 5-3 or 6-2 easier. This is a). I'm from Poland and people play all this styles here and b) is the most popular.
  3. I would bid 4c/d (IMPs/matchpoints), then 5d as XRKCB and bid 6 or 7. If partner chose hearts after 4d bid, I would also ask Hoyt to check for the king of club. I don't really understand your question about asking a diamond stopper. This is an obvious hand to play a suit contract, not NT.
  4. I would redouble 4Hx. However, if I were forced to pass, then I would double their 5C. The probability of voids in 2 suits is small and there is a chance for 500, maybe 800.
  5. Either 6NT and 6C are horrible without Q of hearts. I don't see any reasonable way to reach level 6.
  6. Yeah, sorry for the mess. I've always played NFB (I haven't even known this name until now) and I thought that's a standard. If 2s is forcing, 3h of course.
  7. Since when a new suit at level 2 without a jump is forcing? Do you mean that every partern's bid except hearts/3NT would be forcing?
  8. I would pass. This hand is too weak for 3h.
  9. Do you really want to pass 4Hx in NV vs NV with this hand?
  10. Spades are too weak to show, as lead in this suit is not what we'd like to got. I understand 3c, but if the opponents have unbalanced hands, it won't stop them from finding the game in hearts. That's why I would bid 1h.
  11. I would open. Now 4c to show lead against spades.
  12. Unless you play Drury, bid opponent's suit/splinter/2NT(?).
  13. Why 4NT if we can 4S? It will be easier for partner to decide to defend 5M with 6m or not.
  14. I agree it is Smith. Count doesn't give partner any useful information. If you don't play Smith, it's lavinthal.
  15. Double. We want to play 4H if partner has 4 hearts.
  16. 1C-1H-1S and 1D-1H-1S are forcing in Polish Club. 1D opening is limited by 17.
  17. No it's not. I would agree if it was MPs, but at IMPs, when opps have points for game, a passive lead isn't good. That's why IMHO a minor lead should be choosen. My choice is diamond 4 or T, depending on if I lead combine or UDCA.
  18. They are limited - by 14+10 points. W denied nothing. 6h+4s is possible. I could risk 2s in nv, or MP, but now it's a great way to write down -500. Qxx in hearts is useless for spade game. If partner has 3 hearts without ace, we are quickly loosing 3 tricks.
