  1. One bridge player accused his opponents of cheating. The accused denied this. The authorities accepted the opinion of the accuser. If these men were guilty, they were not caught. They were accused. If these men were innocent, they can never prove it. This is a sad mess.
  2. Seek and ye shall find:-) You all answered my questions AND pointed me to Inquiry's highly useful series of posts on the topic. Yabba-dabba-doo! Thanks!
  3. Greetings! Many players in the BIL tag the phrase OE or OE 1rst discard on their profiles and I just do not know what these discards really are. I should like to know how a partnership uses them to defend AND I should dearly love to hear what are the expected gains and losses to using them over standard discards. If there be a site that explains this, please do direct me to it. Frankly, I struggle plenty with standard defence methods; nonetheless, I would like to read such discrads better as declarer. Thanks Tim
  4. Greetings Everybody! It is a treat to attend these sessions where Fred Gitleman shares his thinking throughout the hand as the foursome bids and plays. Fred plays well, but that is not the real treat; rather, he glories in the growth of partnership. This is so key to his bridge that he stressed it several times during today's session and he did so without the merest hint that he was patronizing any of us. The players I try to watch often on BBO show the same high regard for partnership. No blame, no shame, no gloating and never any 'whyning'. How can anyone fail to play their best bridge with these folks as partner? I know, I know, many of the greats are unfailingly gifted at partnership of this high order; however, those of us, the hordes of us 'below the salt', really should take their example to heart and practise it like the possessed. To watch Fred partner somebody is SWEET and the bridge that comes from it ain't too shabby either.
  5. Hi Playing 2/1 Pard opens 1H - Pass - ? My hand is ---xx KT9 QTx T9xxx With 5 HCP I can Pass. I chose 1NT (forcing), hoping to slow Pard down. Is this the right approach, or is it better to play 2H as the clearest description of the hand? Thanks
