Liike I wrote furter down... 3 hj is perfect for me, normally IT should promise. 5+ diamonds, but this hand is close enough.... If you dont bid 1 hearts with 4c hearts, you will never find 4-4 in hearts, because 2 hearts will (advanced level) mean hearts stoppes on The way towards 3 NT
The LOTT provided you with the information you needed, to keep you away from bidding at least, ... Its a 10 +9 deal. Might think IT would be closer to 20, but in real life often 10 tricks in diamonds also... I use The LOTT a lot...AS one of more ways to analyse....
We used to be confused for years about cuing or not, until we decided that cuing (as an opening hand who has showed a minimum ), should show at least 2 of the 6 key cards. Here we have 3 . ofcourse you cue.. I am not so sure splinter is the best all the time. You consume a lot of space that could be used better. It can sometimes be possible for opener to show both spade cue and club cue below the splinter diamond bid.
This system can be used with precision as well, and you can fine tune it even more... 1 sp-1nt- 3H (showing single clubs). 1 sp-1nt- 2D-2H- 3H (swowing single D) This last one works perfect with strong club system
1sp- 1nt - 2cl (shows diamonds), you cannot show clubs on the 2 level. 3 cl would be forcing with clubs, 1sp-1nt-2 nt shows invitational with clubs. If you prefer, you could switch the two last ones.. Worst hand would be 15-16 and 5-2-2-4 (you might open 1nt)
