The entire Substitution process on BBO is antiquated. It is an easy software rewrite to make it more dynamic, allow for intelligent choices and provide for a more seamless process. However, my guess is lack of funding, BBO continues to operate an analog system in a digital world.

I have no idea how you got this post highlighted on the News Feed page...but.... I have a long standing complaint about the Tournament Substitution process. I regularly click on "willing to substitute in any tournament" button. All too often, AFTER I accept an invitation, I see it is to play the last Board in a multi board tournament, and worse, often after the hand has been bid. When I am invited, I am told the name of the tournament, who my partner will be, and what skill level that partner self proclaims. Why can't the system also tell me what Board, out of how many Boards, the tournament is currently on? Simple computer fix...yet, BBO refuses to do this...HELP!!!

It has now reached all time worst....I just accepted a sub request,only to join the table on the last board AFTER a claim had been accepted....this is just pitiful that the people who write the software and run this site are so callous

I frequently sign up as a substitute for all tournaments. A recurring problem is the notice I receive when a position becomes available. The notice does advise which tournament, and available details of who my partner will be. However, the substitution alert does not state which Board the tournament is currently on, or how many total there are in the tournament. Two problems arise: First, often a substitute is sought for the last Board, which is a very meaningless exercise; or Secondly, the substitution is sought for the first board in a 12 or more Board tournament and I don't have the time to commit to such. I think the computer could easily add the information necessary to advise one being invited to join of the true status and allow an informed decision to be made. Thoughts?

I upgraded my Mac operating system to Yosemite. However, now when I attempt to log into BBO, I get a redirect to a page which tells me BBO requires Java Flash Player...install now. I have attempted to install, but I still get the same message. I am effectively locked out of BBO...anyone have a similar issue, or more importantly, a suggested solution? thanks
