  1. Maybe I'm dumb, but how can I tell which registered players are not online (or in casual) A) shortly before the tournament is due to start? and B) if the tourament is delayed by +allavail+ ? thanks Peter.
  2. Thanks - I found in the General conditions of contest: which (as noted by Blackshoe) does not make it universal.
  3. I would like to know where this is specified. I have looked at the current laws, and at the WBF site without finding such a specification. If it is specified, is it so for all areas? or do different regions specify other languages?
  4. I raised this question in the Australian ABDA forum a few months ago, and got the response from Matthew McManus that:
  5. I assume that the initial setup has boardset 1 shared between tables 1 and 10, and table 11 is where E/W sit out (no boards). Boardsets 2 to 9 are on tables 2 to 9. If you insert an extra boardset between tables 5 and 6, on a relay (bystand) table, the movement becomes a 10 table share and relay (bystand) Mitchell. The downside is the the board numbers are no longer sequential between boardsets 5 and 7. You can truncate the movement after 9 rounds (all players play 27 boards) or complete it to allow all players to play 30 boards.
  6. If one is being picky about violations then this too is probably a violation of 45B:
  7. At our club, the introduction of hand records (using a Dealer4 machine) probably did more to improve quality of play than any other initiative, including intermediate/advance lessons. Some players took them, discussed them with their partners and actually thought about what they'd done after the session!
  8. I consider but discard 4 Spades - I Pass.
