  1. Yeah i know, i was thinking that the falsecards, when declarer's intention is for the max, had influence on how many times 9x would appear. Line a) attemps the max, line b) doesn't. But Siegmund's reasoning seems right and simpler.
  2. AT82 K43 For 3 tricks. a) K, finesse T, A b) K, finesse 8, finesse T My math tells me that both lines are equal. However, from suitplay: SUITPLAY - needing 3 tricks: b) best (Gets 3 tricks more often on average) MP's a) best. IMPS 3NT White, No doubles a) b) same 3NT VUL, No doubles b) best 3NT White/VUL Doubled/Redoubled a) best What happens when either 9 or H appears on RHO on the 1st trick: a) finesse 8 b) A I think i suspect why B is better but its just too complicated and i'm really not sure... maybe i'm missing something and the reason is simple?
  3. Hi Ed. Do use the link (http://webzoom.freewebs.com/fpbridge/Flyer_Festival_Acores_2011.pdf) to contact Ana. This is one of the oldest Portuguese Festivals, and many rising young stars from all over the world are coming. Dont miss it :)
  4. I'm looking for a follow up structure for this.. 2NT shows an unbalanced 4Major(responder's Major) 17+ OR 6+minor 17+ no 3card Major(responder's Major). I'd like to be able to sign-off in the minor, and to GF relay knowing a) if it's the long minor it's shortness and b) if it's the strong fit hand, it's shape ( some kind of GAR structure), ideally distinguishing between 4M and 5+M from responder's relay's . Any ideias? Thanks.
  5. Any thoughts on how to proceed if west had discarded a ♣ and a ♥ ? Is it even right to cash the ♥A then?
  6. Right hand is 7♠ 4♦.From here, for 12 tricks, you will allways get them if both round honors are inside. What about if either of them is stiff with East now? is this a 50-50 guess?
  7. Hi Nick. How is it in England? Here(Portugal) it's spread all over the year, which i find awfull. Any other countries out there?
  8. LOL! is the writing completly wrong? will definitly get some views :P
  9. I've been wondering how the calendar models of competition are around the world. Is the USA model , to condense the main federative competitions for a couple of weeks popular? Or disperse all over the year? How is it in your country?
  10. My partner and i were discussing this, and maybe the suit wasn't strong enough to lead the king. With KQT9x would be the same problem though. One thing came to mind, that maybe if declarer is balanced and dummy hits a singleton , and partner is likely to have some lenght in the suit led we should att on the strong lead? pfff...
  11. simple enough for me, tks. (sry if this was too obvious)
  12. [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sj96542h96da53c94&w=sqt73hat32d2cjt63&e=sakhqj7dj976cakq5&s=s8hk854dkqt84c872]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 2NT - 3♣ - 3♦ - 3NT The lead was the ♦ King, which is our strong lead, ( unblock /count). Count and attitude are upside down. What actually happened was north covering with the ace and continuing the suit. Any sugestions on this? tks [edit] auction
  13. We're playing 2/1. I'd apreciate some thoughts on this one. Who's to blame?
