  1. I am looking for an intermediate/advanced player who would be interested in playing a version of Precision Club. Someone in US timezones. Would like to play twice a week. Version of Precision Club is negotiable, although I have one that I like: LD Precision Club I can play from 9am to 10pm US Central time most days.
  2. I understand and appreciate your stand. Ultimately this is what each of us does to decide who to vote for, do business with, trust, etc. Facts are often not persuasive.
  3. My understanding, https://www.cnbc.com/2017/03/20/the-rich-getpoorer-trump-at-35-billion-has-seen-wealth-decline-since-election.html, is that Trump's ṕersonal wealth has declined since his election. 80+% of taxpayers received a taxcut this year. Jobs, factories, and investment is pouring into the US, little if any directly benefiting Trump personally. If we are being conned, I think we should all work to make it continue.
  4. I understand your point of view. However, when I hire an attorney to represent me I don't want a nice guy, I want a pit bull. To me, representing the US both domestically and internationally is not a case of everyone sitting around singing Kumbaya. People and countries aggressively pursue their self-interests, often at my/our expense. I want someone representing me that can handle all of that effectively. As Trump has often pointed out, many of the international agreements negotiated over the past several years are less than desirable from the pov of the US interests, i.e., they are terrible deals. I am happy to see that being rectified. When I want to associate with congenial people I call on my friends. When I want results I call on people who have demonstrated that they produce results. Very seldom do the two groups overlap. Perhaps your experience is different.
  5. Assessing the state of the DJIA in the short term is, to me, a fool's errand. Over a longer term there seems to be some correlation with the economy. So to assign credit or blame for the last few months seems foolish, but many people seem to do it. I have attempted to make sense of the directional flow of the stock market for many years. As I tell my friends, I am in my 56th year of my get rich quick scheme. It seems to me that liking Trump or not liking Trump, or any President for that matter, is not the issue. When I hire a brain surgeon to operate on me or the President to operate the economy, I don't really care what his personality is like. I am concerned what results does he/she produce, and am I in favor or not of those results. I am in favor of the economic and international relationship results so far.
  6. Perhaps Trump can take credit for the move from 7.2 to 6.8? Nonetheless, it currently is at the lowest rate recorded, right?
  7. 1. I think you mean that volatility has increased. The stock market is still within 10% of it's all time high. 2. I think you mean that we have probably reached "full employment". There are so few unemployed remaining that the unemployment rate has difficulty going lower. 3. I think you mean that Carrier seems to be the exception to the rule. Major companies are opening or expanding plants in the US and hiring. That is why the unemployment rate is low. 4. I think you mean that 80+% of taxpayers are seeing a tax reduction, but since wealthy taxpayers and major corporations pay the bulk of the taxes they necessarily receive the bulk of the tax savings on a dollar basis. 5. I think you mena that the dollar losing value is a benefit to exporting and a detriment to importing, both of which work toward reducing our gigantic trade deficits. 6. I think you mean that the population, having received tax benefits, more jobs, and increasing wages, can now afford to pay a bit more for their products. Thereby support home based manufacturing, which means increased jobs, which means increase discretionary income, etc., etc. 7. I think you mean that foreign tourists no longer can take advantage of cheapened products and services in the US. Our companies and workers now receive wages and profits commensurate with those of other leading Western nations. One area where you are correct is in illegal immigration from Mexico and tourism from the Middle East. Perhaps that is, in your view, and unfortunate consequence. Did I read you correctly?
  8. So,in the last few months the US public has received a tax cut and numerous bonuses, consumer confidence is at an all time high, unemployment is at a 17 year low, black and hispanic unemployment are at the lowest ever recorded, investment money and factories are pouring into the US, GDP is running at 3+%, NATO countries are now contributing more of their share of expenses, ISIS has been decimated, and now North Korea wants to talk to the US and is offering to de-nuclearize. Anyone think that perhaps Trump knows what he is doing?
  9. I must be missing something. I play a version of Precision Club. In Precision Club an opening bid of 2C represents a 11-15 HCP and 6 card club suit or a 5 card club suit + 4 card major. The Basic and Basic+ Charts indicate that a 2 level opening bid may be Average Strength hand with at least a 5/4 shape and both suits known. With Precision Club both suits are not known since the 5 club + 4 major has an unknown major or the 6 club does not have a second suit. Based on my reading Precision Club would not be allowed under Basic and Basic+ Chart events.
  10. In the version of Precision Club that I play, LD Precision Club, responder would pass with <8 hcp. If the Advancer passes, then opener bids a balancing double. If responder has clubs he passes converting double to penalty, otherwise bids best suit, in this case Spades. Opener, aware that responder has < 8 hcp, passes. In LD Precision Club, responses after interference to 1C open are: <8 hcp, Pass 8-11 hcp, Double 12+ hcp, natural bid We use this through the 2 level.
  11. jobless claims at 48-year low https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-economy/u-s-monthly-inflation-picks-up-jobless-claims-at-48-year-low-idUSKCN1GD55Y
  12. For those that may be interested in the unfolding story behind the Nunes memo, here is the confirming evidence: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/456287/grassley-graham-memo-affirms-nunes-memo-fisa-steele-dossier
  13. If I remember correctly there were reports earlier that the Schiff memo had security problems. I do not remember any report of Schiff having his memo vetted. Both memos supposedly rely on the same underlying data which we don't currently see. Perhaps the only way to resolve the issue is to declassify and release the underlying documents. Then we can all make up our own minds what is the truth of the situation. Nunes and his staff apparently took great care to make sure that the Nunes memo did not contain national security info. We can all read it and see that that is indeed the case. Schiff and his staff apparently did not exercise the same caution, either carelessly or intentionally. It would be great theater for Schiff to be able to claim that Trump refuses to release the Schiff memo or redacted it with political bias. Instead Trump sent the memo back and essentially said to clean it up and then he would be willing to release it. So all Schiff has to do is clean out the national security info and resubmit it. I doubt that will happen, it doesn't fit the political theater that Schiff wants.
  14. It is shocking to have a President that apparently follows the Rule of Law and handles sensitive national security info appropriately. My understanding is that Trump sent the memo back to Congress for them to remove the sensitive national security info that had been put in and then resubmit it. Trump has ordered the DOJ/FBI/NSA to help them do so. Do you think this was the wrong thing to do?
  15. Still looking for an intermediate or advanced player to play a version of Precision Club in the afternoons or weekends, US timezones.
  16. Budget Deficits By President: https://www.thoughtco.com/historic-budget-deficits-by-president-3368289
  17. Ah, OK, you don't want to distinguish between character and personality. I would have liked a conversation on the nuances, but so be it.
  18. Do you mean his character or his personality? Based on his presidential actions so far his character seems pretty good. His personality, on the other hand, is a bit abrasive to the establishment and the media. I understand that on a person to person basis he is somewhat charming. His family and ex-wives speak highly of him for what that is worth. I wonder, would our family and ex-wives speak highly of us?
  19. Thanks I will. I have to go celebrate "winning" some more, and get ready for 7 more years of the same. I hope you are enjoying your day too.
  20. But starting to climb as the public experiences more jobs, higher wages, reduced taxes, higher optimism/confidence.
  21. Approval ratings: https://www.sgtreport.com/articles/2018/2/8/amazing-president-trumps-approval-rating-tops-barack-obama-by-4-points-at-same-time-of-his-presidency
