In an International event , I was playing and in SCREEN and sitting south the auction went as follow west : 1♠ .... North : pass.... East : pass .... south : dbl west : 4♥ ...... North : dbl ..... East : 4♠.......south : dbl All pass 4♥ was splinter and was not alerted on both sides of the screen .... can any player imagine that the 4 ♥ was a splinter ?? the contract went 2 down , but ofcourse we missed game in ♥ or a slam with good play The TD was world class director , former director in WBF olympiads and world cup TD asked both opp , both said "it is an agreement , it was a splinter and we did not alert " .....TD went into discussions with his fellow TDs and then came back to me , " score stands cause bids over 3NT are not alerted , and you should have protected yourself by asking the opp " ofcourse , i could not imagine this and in a screen ......I went to appeal the appeal final decision was the same as TD so , bids over 3NT are not alerted with or no screens in WBF hope this helps

According to WBF rules , bids over 3NT are not alerted , but you can ask opp about them I do not know how in ACBL this go

You said that u gave a sarcastic comment about winning the contract by this way I think this was the main reason for the TD to boot you from his tourney , the undo thing has nothing to do with this You are not allowed to treat your partner , opponent and the TD in any sarcastic way ... so better to take care of your comments on the table and do not blame the TD .. I think he had the right

Hi I think the duty of TD is to judge according to laws and to the convention card of the players , if the player said what in his convention or no , cause what in the convention is what his partner will get The mistake here that some TDs fall in it , is they judge the bridge of the player , but they cannot make decisions according to this , if the player evaluated his hand correct or wrong cause this varies from player skill to another , and for sure this is not the TD role , he cannot punish or judge players for bad or good bridge Next time you will meet a player who opens and explain his bid as week , and he holds for example 13 points with a single king and his bridge level and thinking makes him not counting the 3 points of the King .... what will you do in this case too ?....... according to laws you can do nothing to him since the 2sp bid in his convention is "weak" and he explained what in his convention

Well Done Gweny this shld have been done from long time ago ... We NEED PRIVATE CLOSED FORUM FOR TDs ONLY ...where no one come and show his muscles and try only to show .. .. This step sure will make many TDs come back to this forum not to fight and defend useless topics ... but for real sake and benefit

dear the_hog I did not say that psychic is not allowed ... what i wanted to say is there are international organizations that made restrictions for it and banned it in other situations as the examples above ..... about the generali tournment whom they forced players to play one system ...yes it is indvidual tourney and yet we have many ind. tourneys at BBO now we return to conventional bids and what do they mean.. they are bids like 2cl opening and 1 cl precision or 2 diamond flannery ... they banned psychic with these bids in tourneys less than 16 board ...didn't they ? To my surprise I see posts and topics against the TD system at BBo and directing tourneys and the way of choosing the TDs...well I think tourneys at BBO is the most attracting thing and we can see that from the number of players in the tourneys at any time ..so for sure BBO succeeded in this as well as its TDs !.... Saying that or the acuse of many or some or few or all the directors that they are novice or they cannot or they do not know the rules and posting this in topics and discusions realy not fair and annoying ....... Today while running my tourney ...after 2 min of the start player talked in private player: adjust board number 1 to 3nt by south me : why ?.. round not finished yet player : pls review the board me : did u finish it player : yes me : then why u need adjustment ? player : because we have 3nt and the bid went ALL PASS :D :D fo

I was co with gweny in her tourney today and the following dialog happened me ( to the tourney ) : 7 min left we must be playing the last (3rd) board now player : I finished the 3rd board from 4 min me : good you did player : Can I play the 4th now ? ;) :D ;)

We have the yellows and we also have the stars ... but don't we also have the TDs ? :( .... i think it wld be nice also that TDs have their own colours or signs ...and i suggest also that they shld be ranked by their experience according to the number of tables they hosted ( not to number of tourneys ) ..think this will help also directors to more co with each other in different tourneys to gain their ranks and higher colours and sure a tourney done by 2 TD will be better than runing it with 1 TD for both players and the TDs...also this cld give the players an indication to which tourneys they can join if the TD (TDs) experience is important to them ..... according to the law of total tricks .. and if life is normal when u hold 7 cards then the other 3 hands ( pd and opp ) each of them will carry 2 cards ....so if u bid 3 holding 9 cards trump u and ur pd ...you r in a very safe position ...... but take care to not hold outside honours ;) ... so with qxxxxxx and nothing more ...do not worry and open 3 .......... but with qxxxxxx and outside A or K do not open

I played the 2 conventions for long times and found that it is better to play capp when we are red or in same vul ....and DONT is more effective if played when we are green against red fo

As a player yes this annoys me a lot ... but when i am hosting a tourney usually the first 2 rounds have a lot of problems so time is incresed by max 2 min ... but the other rounds usually no need to increse the time ...anyway the important thing is that sure no TD wants to increse the time...but when he or she do so ...they have problems forced them to do so fo

A player asked me to adjust his score since he was playing 4h X .... and opp refused his good claim ... i reviewed the board very fast and found that 4h after his sequence of play cannot lose .... so i adjusted the score to 4h X made by NS ...............a moment and found the same player screeeming that he ( EW )played the 4h X and not his opp :D ... sure i made the mistake ..but had to re adjust it again ..... when we are in a hurry many mistakes apear :unsure: Fo at bbo

I met all the above horrible times except the nightmare as aisha said ..to be disconected while hosting and hope I do not see this .. ... and u cld feel strange why i wrote in the poll " a player says I am a TD and u must adjust the score " ... i met this in one of my tourneys ...and this player gave me more than enuff headache that at certain time i felt realy to end the tourney and to never host a tourney again.... in the same time i did not adjust his score too :unsure: ..and i am not afraid of him being a TD as he says

I hope that the software can include a clock for the TD so when we need to know how many min left ..we do not have to join a table to know that the call director message not to be a pop up window ..and a red light or any colour cld flash with sound on the player name who wants a director.. sure will be better than these jumping pops

Hi Aisha I realy enjoyed your stories ..which made me feel that not only me who meet these funny situations when runing my tourney "Earthquake tourney " here are some :) - a player was playing 7nt missing ace .. in imps tourney ( which sure will cost him many imps ) cldn't finish the board in time ..so average -ve was given automaticaly ...this player kept asking me "why av -ve" "i claimed and opp refused""this is not fair" and finally he asked "ARE U A DIRECTOR ?" B) - a player kept asking me to leave the tourney saying that he is novice and his expert pd could not win 1NT with 22 points :) - a player asked me to come to table cause slow play from opp .. and i guessed he was rite .. so i incresed the time of the round 4 min and his opp lost the board and paid 800 .... after the round one of his opp was angry why did i increase the time and that this cost him 800 cause the round time was going to end and the board was going not to be finished and that he wld have taken average :)
