  1. 1) Best chance for four spade tricks is 3-3 or J doubleton, so better to avoid a spade discard 2) If spade finesse fails, the contract goes down (defense getting at least 1S, 4H, and 2D) 3) ♠A, ♠K, then ♠T if Jack has appeared. If not ♠Q. If spades are 3-3 cash last ♠ Then I would try ♣K, finesse ♣J, overtake ♣T with Ace
  2. I switched to Windows 10 about 3 months ago. I use Firefox as my browser. I get cut off about 1 out of every 3 (one hour) tournaments.
  3. Missing 15 HCP. No heart lead, so likely heart honor with east So would play for singleton spade king with West
  4. 1) Partner has fewer than 3 spades, and fewer than 7 HCP. Weak with spade support, he would have raised; strong with spade support, 2NT; strong without spade support, redouble 2) Competent opps; 2H is on target
  5. [hv=pc=n&w=sakqjt2h7dtcqt632&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=1sdp2h]133|200[/hv] Playing 2/1, MPs What is west's most appropiate follow up?
  6. [hv=pc=n&w=s7654haj72d8cqjt4&d=n&v=b&b=13&a=1dp2d(6-9%3B%204%2BD%3B%20no%204%20card%20M)dp]133|200[/hv] Three questions: Is double by west correct? Assuming pard has 4 hearts, what are the point ranges for 2♥, 3♥, and 4♥? Which bids are forcing?
  7. Thanks for the suggested lines of play and analyses. David
  8. [hv=pc=n&s=skj72haj964da8caq&n=sa4hk32d62ckjt762]133|200[/hv] IMPs; NV vs. Vul; Silent Opps Opening lead a small diamond Would 6H or 6NT more likely succeed?
  9. Thanks all for the input. My line was similar: Win club return, A♣, low spade, losing to N's K, win ♣return to Q, ♠A, ♦Q, ♠Q, ♥A, and ♥finesse. In the end I needed the finesse to be on. I did not know if there was a stronger approach to avoid the finesse.
  10. FWIW, I played low from dummy at trick one, losing to South's King. Now with six winners (1 S, 2 H, and 3 C), I needed three more from spades and diamonds. I was looking for a line that made the heart finesse a late play in the hand.
  11. Thank you for the feedback. I was really looking at the thought process behind a hand that should make 3 NT but only has 4 top tricks. I knew that I had to generate winners in multiple suits, but could not figure out where to start. I will try to ask my focused questions going forward.
  12. [hv=pc=n&w=sathkj32dk72cq982&e=sq862ha6dq864caj4&d=n&v=e&b=9&a=p1dp1hp1sp3nppp]266|200[/hv] What is the best line in 3NT? The opening lead is the club 3 (4th best).
