This behaviour was directly caused by catholic believes, that noone claims it does not make it untrue. And you don't have to be sorry about not caring what an effect our politicians or cardinals have on our lives, standard human behaviour (mine too). But to put out a factor out of an equation while you say that you are talking about it, will lead to nowhere. Maybe you have a more theoretical approach about pure concepts without humans being involved. I do not buy this religion without humans.

Did you expect that cardinal Meisner would step up and say that this is in perfect line to his mindset? Coincidence that it happened under this ultraconservative? ciao stefan

BML - Markup language for Full Disclosure
jkljkl replied to Kungsgeten's topic in Full Disclosure and Dealer
Sorry for continuing OT about python: After the above mentioned failure, I started plan B. Went to python.org, and installed python on my machine (will maybe post later the process). Now I want to start with python the bml2bss.py But this file seems not to be included in the zipfile that I downloaded. Where can I find the bml2bss.py? ciao stefan -
BML - Markup language for Full Disclosure
jkljkl replied to Kungsgeten's topic in Full Disclosure and Dealer
My first 30 min Cannot comment yet, I just can say that this python thing is not so simple to master for a non-programmer. Maybe my stumbling can be of help for future user with my knowledge level. OS Win7 64Bit Home Premium Tried to start bml2bss.exe Result: A Pop-Up window flashed up an disappeared within ms, no idea of what was written in it. Ok, so maybe that is that dll thing. So I went to the MS Homepage and installed Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2010 Express Tried to start bml2bss.exe Result: As before, no improvement Well, the Pop-Up window has a black background as the DOS-Prompt, so lets try to start it there manually to see if I can discover something else. Started the DOS-prompt, cd till I was in the right folder, started the bml2bss.exe an got: What's the name of the file you want to convert? Traceback <most recent call last>: File "bmlsbss.py", line 293, in <module> IOError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'test.txt' c:\Users\stefan\Desktop\bml\bml2bss_exe> Then I created an empty dummy file test.txt. Now I do not longer get the error, just the question What's the name of the file you want to convert? c:\Users\stefan\Desktop\bml\bml2bss_exe> If now I point for instance to sayc.bml I get a message that windows does not know which program should handle a *.bml file. Linking the bml-file-format to the bml2bss.exe didn't help. Again a Pop-Up window coming and disappearing within ms. ciao stefan -
Well some shifting towards 2/1 is already happening: Standard Italia became 2/1 gf http://www.federbridge.it/Concorsi/docsview.asp?docs=convB In France there are books produced by Le Bridgeur that suggest a shift to 2/1 calling it "Standard pour l'an 2000" http://www.lebridgeur.com/un-standard-pour-l-an-2000-tome-ii.html The first book of this "standard 2000" has already been translated by the german bridge federation. etc. So there are signs of a shift, but habits do not change fast so it will take a while till we see more 2/1 players at the bridge table. ciao stefan

references about bridge in education
jkljkl replied to theli's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Since you live in Romania, maybe with the aid of google translate, I suggest you give a try to the italian website, there you can read about cooperations with universities, for istance: http://www.federbridge.it/news/news.asp?cod=1165 http://www.federbridge.it/news/news.asp?cod=935 http://www.federbridge.it/news/news.asp?cod=1322 or medical research with the target to simplify doping regulations for bridge http://www.federbridge.it/news/news.asp?cod=1490 or about bridge at schools (I do not know how to link it better) http://www.federbridge.it/Insegnamento/sezione.asp?InsSect=01 etc ciao stefan -
without repeating other points already made: - My cahe and history is cleared after every session, so the client has to be downloaded every time anew. This takes longer than to start the windows version. - Every time I tried it in the past it crashed my browser (opera). My needs are covered 100% by the downloadable windows version and I will stick to it till bbo will not longer allow it. ciao stefan

not a plain explanation, but Standard Dutch Bidding System AKA Biedermeijer Red could answer some of your questions. ciao stefan

I think your question can be read in two ways: What is permissible by agreement? Then I would say that in germany you can open 1NT by agreement with three voids if you elect to do so. We do not have restrictions about the shape. (but 1NT must be 9+ HCP otherwise it equates to a HUM system) On the other side there is the question about disclosure Is it alertable? Then we have, as Peter said above, this regulation: It is forbidden to alert NT openings that are 4333 4432 5332 or 5422 6322 or 4441 5431 with single A, K or D or have the intention to play NT ciao stefan

Yes, but The side that didn't use properly the stop card will retain the table score regardless of how long the oppenent thought. If you think too long over the usual 10 seconds the UI can lead to a different score for your side according §16. The whole story ending in a split score. ciao stefan

well I hope so, since it is the german regulation since many years :) "[...]Unterlässt es ein Spieler „Stopp“ zu sagen oder gibt er die Reizung zu früh wieder frei, so verliert seine Seite das Recht, irgendwelche Ansprüche aus einer übermäßig verzögerten oder überhasteten Ansage eines Gegners herzuleiten.[...]" ~If a player does not use the stop card or retreats it prematurely his side will not get any redress from an overly fast or overly slow bidding by the opponent. ciao stefan

An easier to find link to Make New Table
jkljkl replied to Ant590's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Indeed, I tried the web-version yesterday and it seems that it finally works with Opera too. After having tried out many other links I gave up the intention to open a table. Out of curiosity I clicked on the german translation of "help me to find a game" that reads "I am looking for a bridgegroup". Similar problem about bidding table and robots that first are not available but later yes. Maybe BBO could make a more extensive use of explanation bubbles when the mouse hovers on a link. with best regards stefan
