  1. I may not be advanced in my bidding as I have never played with a regular player. I have mostly played with weak palyers in the past. but regardless of their strength I can play a decent defence and play of the hand. In that I am an advanced player.
  2. I'm a simple player and I don't play a lot of conventions, but with this hand like the 1 club opener. If partner bids 1 spade and I would reverse with 2 diamonds. Partner could have a 5 card spades suit with a 4 card heart suit. With a hand like this he can bid the hearts now.
  3. Thanks I had forgotten a lot about reverses and this helped. Very well written!
  4. I'm not a BBO masterpoint member or a ACBL member. I gave my points up awhile back because I found that many people that were life masters were worse players then I was. it seemed to me that masterpoints were not a very accurate way of showing a persons strength. But I have played here now for awhile and I was wondering if there was a way to demonstrate a persons bridge strength by a 'hand history account.' Personally I rate myself as an advanced player but I do have some weakness that I would like to be rid of. Playing with stronger player would help a lot. But then it is hard to tell the good players from the bad. In go there is what they call the 'ladder system,' and it is used to show how a person is playing against others. Maybe BBO can create something similar.
  5. I have a ratty 5 card hearts and 15 to 17 HCP's. I open 1 NT and partner bids 2 clubs. Should I bid 2 hearts or 2 diamonds? If I bid 2 hearts is that undervaluing the hearts suit? If I bid 2 diamonds, after partner bids 2 NT should I then bid 3 hearts to show a 5 card suit?
  6. I think that a nt bid over a opening bid would take care of problems like this. It would be like the the veritable nt that are in use today. If one had a good hand like 15 to 17 then they could double first and then bid nt.
