  1. A new feature which has appeared in the casual Bridge Club environment is an automatic prompt to hurry on a player who is taking too long to respond; after 2 such prompts the player is booted and replaced with a robot. In principle this is not a bad idea, but (a) the time before and between warnings is a bit too short – some hands need more thought and planning than others, and this puts extra pressure on these players. Then (b) the removal of the “slow” player should not be automatic, but should perhaps be left to the table host. Playing a casual “relaxed” game today I had to twice remove the robot and reserve the seat again for the original player; in one case they had been interrupted by a phone call, in the other they just had an awkward hand to bid.
  2. Sorry, errors in original message. Played on 2020-09-09, at 13:55, the contract was 4HW, scored as -4, actually played as -1, the LIN is 354926837. My big question is whether or not its possible to recover from such a "hang", someway to repaint the screen to reflect any missed updates? Thanks
  3. I was East, as declarer in 4S. About the 3rd card I led, followed by South, West, wait..., wait...., oops North has gone offline. A short wait, North is back on line, I am informed via chat that North has played a card, but this is not reflected on my screen, and I cannot continue to play as the table is frozen waiting for North. My connection is not frozen, I can browse the history tab, browse the people tab etc. Eventually the only action I can take is to deliberately disconnect, and reconnect and get restored to my seat. So far so good; I can continue with the game, and make 9 tricks. However, for some reason the game was scored as 4S-4 for a loss of 13.7 IMPs, it should have reflected 4S-1. So I have 2 questions: a) How can one best recover from such a frozen connection? and b) Why was the event scored incorrectly? When I replayed the board via the history tab, it replayed correctly with East making 9 tricks.
  4. When playing Teams in a face to face tourney, if Team 1 NS pair sits at table 1 NS, then the Team 1 EW pair would sit at Table 2 EW; Team 2 NS pair would sit at Table 2, and Team 2 EW pair would sit at Table 1. If a second round is to be played, then the Team2 pairs would exchange seats with each other, so that they play different opponents. After watching one of the instructions for setting up BBO teams on YouTube, the instructor was giving the instruction that Team 1 (all players) sit at Table1, Team 2 at Table2, and that for the second round only Table 2 pairs exchange seats. I would greatly appreciate clarification on this issue - is this YouTube description correct, and does BBO adjust the scoring to accommodate this seating?
