I know the robots don't follow the rule of 3rd hand high, but here I was not able to find a situation, where playing the 6 could be right But playing the 6 wasn't right with this layout [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=pn%7CHuman%2CRobot%2CRobot%2CRobot%7Cst%7C%7Cmd%7C3SK8HK9854DK94CAK7%2CSAT93HT76DQ75C942%2CSQJ64HQ3DJ83CQJ86%2CS752HAJ2DAT62CT53%7Csv%7CN%7Cah%7CBoard%205%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C1N%7Can%7Cnotrump%20opener.%20Could%20have%205M.%20--%202-5%20%21C%3B%202-5%20%21D%3B%202-5%20%21H%3B%202-5%20%21S%3B%2015-17%20HCP%3B%2018-%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C2C%7Can%7CStayman%20--%2011-%20HCP%3B%2012-%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C2H%7Can%7C2-5%20%21C%3B%202-5%20%21D%3B%204-5%20%21H%3B%202-4%20%21S%3B%2015-17%20HCP%3B%2018-%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C2S%7Can%7C3-%20%21H%3B%204%20%21S%3B%209%20HCP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C3H%7Can%7C2-5%20%21C%3B%202-5%20%21D%3B%205-%20%21H%3B%202-4%20%21S%3B%2015-17%20HCP%3B%20rebiddable%20%21H%3B%2018-%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7C3N%7Can%7C3-%20%21H%3B%204%20%21S%3B%209%20HCP%3B%2010%2B%20total%20points%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cmb%7CP%7Cpc%7CD5%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CH4%7Cpc%7CH7%7Cpc%7CHQ%7Cpc%7CHA%7Cpc%7CHJ%7Cpc%7CHK%7Cpc%7CH6%7Cpc%7CH3%7Cpc%7CH9%7Cpc%7CHT%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CS2%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CD8%7Cpc%7CDA%7Cpc%7CD4%7Cpc%7CDT%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CDQ%7Cpc%7CDJ%7Cmc%7C9%7C]399|300[/hv]
  2. The problem is not North, but South, that is not bidding according to system. It is very frustrating, that GIB's implementation of Michaels Cuebid (and 2N like here) is wrong, so any further bids from the cuebidder shows 25+ - I think Stephen has written it before, as North has promised no points, souths bid shows the number of hcp needed to win the contract - here that is 25+ total points. Last time i forgot GIB jumped to 7♣ :-)

Now declarer (Also GIB) enter dummy with a ♦ and plays a ♣ to the J (I am not sure what the idea of playing ♦ first is, but forget that), and continues with a ♣ to the Queen, and the last ♣ from dummy. What will you discard? On the actual layout there is 11 tricks, and your discard can't cost a trick, but you might fool GIB - or just let GIB get a bad simulation. Have you made up your mind?
  10. Unfortunately there is no way to improve GIB, so the only thing we can do is to be better partners for GIB. When the North bot passed I hoped I had escaped the dreaded slam bid from partner, and after the double from east it seems like all 3 bots was lost in space. So how can we improve partnership here?♣ Well, the top went to the 3♣-opener, where the Bots ended in 4♠ EW. I will remember that, but when I try it I will expect the bot following its normal strategy og bidding, when they go down, and leave it in, when it makes :-)
  11. I have noticed, that even though it is often stated that the bots don't signal, it looks to me, that some signalling occur. Perhaps it is just the randomness of the discards, that makes me remember, when it match the actual holding, and just not notice, when it doesn't match But let us look at an example from yesterdays Challenge - this is NOT the advanced bots [hv=pc=n&n=sj976hk74daqjck65&s=sakq43ha963dk6cq8&d=w&v=b&b=4&a=p1cp1sp2sp4np5dp6sppp]266|200[/hv] You quickly bid to 6♠, and the West bot lead ♥J to the King (♥8 from East) This is a fine slam, as all you need is to find where ♣A is located, and Mortons fork Coup is present (https://www.bridgebu...s_fork_coup.php) Normally I would expect East to hold ♣A more than 50% of the time as West might have lead it, but I am not sure about the bots leading principles Now all followed to two rounds of ♠, and you have arrived at the decision point. Is the ♣A at east or West? Well, just playing it like normal bridge, I cashed one more round of trump (ending in dummy), to see some discards, and West threw ♣3 and East♣9. So did that change anything? Now, we players might assume that a high card is encouraging, but as bots don't intentionally signal it is probably not the case, but still it signals something to us, as the bots often drops the highest card it can afford. ♠ is 2-2 ♦ is probably 4-4 as no ♦-discards So clubs seems to be 4-4 or 5-3, but assuming 4-4 based on the discards, it seems both opponents are 2344 Have you made up your mind?

Impressive work Stephen From todays free Daylong tournament I had this deal [hv=url=https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?lin=st||pn|Thorvald,~~v3fakebot,~~v3fakebot,~~v3fakebot|md|4S82HKT9D743CAKQJ9,SAQHQ842DAJT95C32,SKT9764H6DQ2CT654,SJ53HAJ753DK86C87|sv|n|rh||ah|Board%202|mb|P|mb|1C|an|Minor%20suit%20opening%20--%203+%20!C;%2011-21%20HCP;%2012-22%20total%20points|mb|1D|an|One-level%20overcall%20--%205+%20!D;%208-17%20HCP;%209-19%20total%20points|mb|1S|an|Free%20bid%20--%204+%20!S;%206+%20total%20points;%20forcing|mb|2D|an|3+%20!D;%206-10%20total%20points|mb|P|mb|P|mb|P|pc|H6|pc|HA|pc|H9|pc|H8|pc|D6|pc|D3|pc|D9|pc|DQ|pc|C5|pc|C8|pc|CQ|pc|C3|pc|HK|pc|H2|pc|S7|pc|H7|pc|HT|pc|HQ|pc|D2|pc|H3|pc|S4|pc|S5|pc|S2|pc|SQ|pc|D5|pc|C4|pc|D8|pc|D4|pc|DK|pc|D7|pc|DT|pc|S6|pc|S3|pc|S8|pc|SA|pc|S9|pc|H4|pc|C6|pc|HJ|pc|CA|pc|H5|pc|C9|pc|C2|pc|CT|pc|C7|pc|CK|pc|DA|pc|ST|pc|DJ|pc|SK|pc|SJ|pc|CJ|]399|300[/hv] I think most players would bid 2♠ on the North hand instead of passing 2♦. I assume we are out of the defined sequences, so this calls for a simulation Following your explanation 2♠ going down will always be doubled, and then it seems better to let opps play 2♦ - if simulation could not be fixed this just calls for a generic rule, that over partners opening you should not let the opponents play below 2 in your major with a 6-card suit For those still here there was also an interesting observation in the play, just follow the play
  14. I just lost at 16 board match by 31, not the first time, and certainly not the last time, but what I noticed here was my opponent 7 times out of 8 opened the weaker minor, and gained 31 Imp's. Two of the 3 boards was because the bot could not figiure out where to play as the opening stole their suit, so the bot went 800 and 1100. Could be interesting if anyone had made some statistics about opening weaker minor with the strongest hand.
  15. I am still trying to figure out if there are any rules for what card to lead thru declarer or just later in the play, just like the rules for the opening-lead. The bot got this East hand [hv=pc=n&n=shkq7dkt7432ckjt9&e=sq952hjt852d96cq2&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1sp2dp2sp3cp3nppp]266|200[/hv] Now partner leads ♣4, and declarer fails and uses the 9. Now the bot figures that switching to ♠ is right (as often seen a switch to shortage at dummy) But what card? Now change the bidding a bit [hv=pc=n&n=shkq7dkt7432ckjt9&e=sq952hjt852d96cq2&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=1sp2dp2sp3cp3dp3hp3nppp]266|200[/hv] Same lead, and same error by declarer, and GIB again decides to play a ♠ in the two situations What is interesting that GIB did not play the same ♠
