  1. Is there a problem with the server that provides tournament results? Over the last couple of days, it's been almost completely non-responsive. A completed tournament shows up, but when you click on a player's results, you usually get a message: "The server is currently unable to access the page you requested, due to temporary overloading or maintenance operations. Please try again later." It's currently unusable. (And also the BBO Extractor won't complete, although it's clearly not the extractor's fault.)
  2. It's of no use when not supported on tablets (about half my players use iPads). Charging when not supported on phones/tablets is a joke. You are basically asking people to pay for a service you are not providing. Make it work, THEN charge for it: that's what the rest of the world does.
  3. You must be using a different BBO to me - I have none of these problems. I find review of what happened and score adjustment very easy. I started directing BBO games in May, and there have been constant improvements ever since. Sure, they haven't always been smooth sailing, but overall, the level of functionality and ease-of-use is amazing.
  4. I'm sure that will work, but it is subject to the very important proviso that as soon as you update one of the tourneys, it will pick up the include list that is in place at the time. In other words, when you create (or modify) a tourney, it takes your current include list and essentially 'copies' it into the tournament's definition.
  5. There's a document (https://blog.bridgebase.com/2020/04/02/the-virtual-club-manager-manual/) that is rather incomplete, and not updated to reflect updates to the software. Experimented at length today: you can't use fractions. It rounds the minutes per board that you put in to an integer, then multiplies by the number of boards per round.
  6. Maybe you have to do it after the tournament has started. It would be nice to get some clarity on this.
  7. Interesting. So if I entered 6.7 minutes/board for a 3-board round, I would get a 20 minute round?
  8. Or alternatively, if fractions are a problem, minutes per round. It would be helpful because for me, about 6.5 minutes is what I want per board.
  9. I doubt it's random. It's surely there to protect the system from being gamed to get to play for just 25 cents.
  10. I just want to know what the hack even means. For example, if I specify section size of 10, and get 24 tables ... do I get two sections of 12 or three sections of 8?
  11. Obviously it's to stop you scamming the system, and allowing players to play for $0.25 rather than the full price.
  12. Any facility that is developed incrementally is going to have a degree of messiness. Programmers always want to throw everything away and start again. But it's a very expensive process, usually not viable. And if they are not going to start again, it becomes more and more difficult to add features or fix problems, for fear of breaking the spaghetti of code that's there. You've seen that, right? The most recent was when the change to larger tournament id numbers broke the system. So be careful what you wish for.
  13. I have a contrary view: I think the director facilities are pretty good, as a whole. There have been some crucial improvements in the last few months, in particular: adding sound prompts for director calls/disconnections, and allowing robots to fill in at various stages (sitouts and temporary disconnects). There is just one horrible bug that needs to be fixed (which is what I think Tony is referring to above): In the History tab, when you move from one table to the next, the list of results updates, but the individual board display does not: when you click on a result, you get the bidding/play details for the original table. The same restriction occurs when right-clicking on a player and selecting Player's Results. So you cannot follow up on bidding and play situations. To overcome it, you have to log off and log on, which is super-annoying.
  14. Well thanks, but I knew that. It was the error message that was new to me. And I'm fairly sure something is broken ... in fact I've just logged in again, my new deal folder is gone, and my old folder from Friday has returned. Help!
  15. Today when I try to upload a set of boards, I get the message "Could not access hand database" when trying to create a folder. The folder apparently creates, but when I import a .LIN file, the deals do not display.
