  1. Is this workable? I would think so, because if responder does anything other than bidding 2D, he must have values for a GF opposite 18-19. Aftrt 2C - 2D (to play), opener can bid 2H with 18-19 which responder can pass or puppet to 2NT. This seems like the same position reversed that Mex 2D openers are in (they can get out in 2S, but not 2H).
  2. 1NT = 12-14 1C = any 16+ unbal or 15-16/22+ bal 1M = 5 cards 9-15, unbal (unless you put a range in it here). Unbal would allow for even more direct raises to 3/4M. 1D = diamonds main suit unbal 10-15 or 17-19 bal (5M? depends on your answer here). Yes, that's not what I wrote on the other thread - I'm trying different combinations 2NT = 20-21 Side issue: the 17 can be moved into the 1C range (now 15-17) if desirable. If so, the 20 could be moved to 1D (now 18-20), again, if desirable, making 2NT 21-22. The main question is what to do with the 3 relevant balanced hand ranges with 5M (12-14, 15-16, 17-19). 1) You could put them all in with the respective balanced openers, meaning 1M is now unbalanced. 2) You could open all the weak NTs with 1M. Personally I've never liked opening a weak NT with a 5 card major. 3) You could play 1M as upto 15 unbal or 15-16 bal, and open 1D on all 5M 17-19 bal, meaning the minimum 1C opener can't have 5M if min bal. This would be better in comp after 1C. 4) You could play 1M as upto 15 unbal or 17-19 bal, taking this range out of 1D or 1C. You lose a lot of the power of 1M-4M though if opener might have 19 high. There's also the option of taking some of the 17(18)-19s out of 1D to 2C as per the other thread.
  3. Assuming 1♦ is 1 of:- 11-13 balanced 11-15 with 6+♣ 11-15 with ♦ and ♣ with longer ♣ (includes 5-6) 11-15 with exactly 4M and a longer minor (includes all 4441s and 5440s with 5m). what continuations are recommended? 1♥ = natural or relay? If so, is 1♠ limited? I'm no good at designing relays efficiently. Any help would be appreciated. edit: rest of system is a version of precision:- 1M = 5+ 11-15 2♦ opening = no major, 6+♦ or 5+♦ with 4+♣ 1NT = 14-16 2♣ - i want to reserve this for weak majors. it might seem odd not to play 2♣ natural and 2 ♦ for the majors, but having tried both, 2♣ works far better in my experience. This is for play in WBF events, so regulations shouldn't be a problem.
  4. I'm aware of the gazilli variant whereby 1s-1nt-2c is either hearts or strong. Presumably this entails 1s-1nt-2h being spades and clubs limited. What continuations should one play over that? 3 clubs is to play and 2nt natural invite so you lose an invitational raise of clubs?
  5. With silent opps after 1d 1s 2h what's the difference between a direct 3nt and 3nt via 2nt? If it was as per lebensohl it would show/deny a club stop but that seems stupid here.
  6. Assuming the rules below how do you continue from responder's rebid after 1c-1red-xfer completion in t-walsh? I'm used to playing standard 2 way checkback but it seems like it needs refinement because a lot more shapes are in the 1M rebid. 5c4d hands are opened 1c All weak nt are opened 1c Rebidding a new suit shows an unbalanced hand Rebidding 1nt over the xfer shows some strong range, 17-19 or whatever. Completing the xfer is any weak nt without 4 card support, or any hand too weak to reverse. Rebidding 2c shows 6
  7. [hv=pc=n&n=sakt2hj2dt43ckj32&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1c1h2d2h]133|200[/hv] matchpoints. do you support with 3 here? if not, when would you?
  8. [hv=pc=n&s=sha43dakj543cqj98&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1sp2dp2np3cdp(3%20to%20an%20honour)p]133|200[/hv] imps. as per the diagram, partner's pass shows 3 to an honour. your go?
  9. Assuming 1D shows 4M and an unbalanced hand, i.e. a longer minor or 4441 shape, or a variable NT range (11-13 or 14-16 depending on vul/seat), what should the continuations be? Yes, I tried searching. Courtesy of Bertheau and Nystrom I have:- 1♦-1♥ (nat or relay): 1♠=11-15, 5+m and 4♠, 1NT=BAL, not 4♥, 2♣=4♥ not BAL, 2♦=Max, 4♠ 3♥ +SPL, 2♥=BAL 4♥, 2♠=12-16, 4144, 2NT=Max, 6♦4♥, 3♣=Max, 6♣ 4♥ 1♦-1♠ (nat): 1NT=BAL w/o 4♠ or 1444 2m= 5+suit w/ 4♥. and 0-2♠ 2H.=4S. any hand 2S.=11-14, 4H. 3S. + SPL 2NT=Good Max w/ SPL and 3S 3.=Max 6+suit w/ 4S 3.=Max 6+suit w/ 4S Obviously this needs some fleshing out, or alternatively maybe you can think of something better entirely. I'm particularly dubious about the 1D-1S-1NT sequence. This could evidently be anywhere between a flat 11 count and a 1444 15 or even 16.
