I read that the robots are programmed to play 2 over 1. I used to occasionally play with the robots, but since I don't know 2 over 1, there's no point in trying to play with them. Have they always played this method or is it fairly recent? I realize they aren't people, but they so often bid a suit and will be void in it or only have a singleton. Do most players in BBO play 2 over 1?

If I want to watch a hand in my recently played hand's file, how do I do it?
-
Thank you so much! I've just been to BBO and checked it. My eyesight is not always dependable (I'm old!) and after More Option, I missed the darker gray Advanced Options choice.

I'll be so glad when I find the answer! Having the aut0play feature is so much better than not having it. Please please hurry and tell me.

Never mind... I still don't know the answer, but decided not to return here to watch for a response... I still need to know. For some reason I cannot find the solution.

After deleting cookies the way I had my game set in BBO disappeared and now I can't find how to set it to automatically play singletons. I know it isn't difficult! LOL But, I can't find it. Help, please

Thanks all for the responses. I appreciate.

I didn't assume all players did. I only know it about some, but thanks.

My partner was a player with advanced ranking. Ops opened the bidding and my partner bid 1nt. I had 10 high card points so I bid 2nt. Partner bid 3nt. He had no profile. Turns out he had eleven high card points and went down several tricks and booted me from the table. I'm not objecting to the boot, but I think he was way off to overcall 1nt unless he held at least 15 pts. I've noticed the players who rank themselves advanced or higher are the ones more likely to lack sportsmanship. I realize there are many exceptions. :)

Opening one of a major
Alibar10 replied to Alibar10's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Please tell me which system would it mean 11-12 high card points? -
Opening one of a major and partner bids 2nt. Nothing listed in either profile re Jacoby or anything else other than Standard American system, I take the 2nt to mean 11-12 high card points. Twice lately, partner has insisted it means he holds an opening nt hand. Am I mistaken?

Question about a bid
Alibar10 replied to Alibar10's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
Ok, thanks -
Opponent opened one nt. Her partner responded 2 spades, adding an alert saying Jacoby t.b. The opener bid 3 hearts and it was played in hearts. I can't find any reference to the t.b. Can anyone tell me? It occurred in the relaxed game and really doesn't make any difference, except I thought I would be able to find something about it and can't. I double checked on the t.b., so I know that's what was written.

I can login in without a problem, but then only the top one third of the BBO site is visible. The rest of white. I have logged off, shut down and rebooted, but it's the same. It first occurred when I deleted a message from my mailbox. Is there something I can do to fix it? Initially the login page was all right, but now it is chopped off.

I suppose the dummy often thinks they would play a hand differently, but so many seem to think it's all right to put a string of question marks across the chat area when their partner is playing a hand. I want to ask them if they would like to stop the game and confer with their partner, so partner can explain the logic involved. I realize the rude behavior will continue, but it is so annoying. I appreciate the enemy list. :)

Responding at the one level with 7 pts
Alibar10 replied to Alibar10's topic in Novice and Beginner Forum
I was concerned it might cause p to think I had 10 pts if I bid 2 c. -
My partner opened one club. I had 7 pts, a singleton spade, 4 hearts to the queen, ace jack 8 6 diamonds, 4 clubs. I bid one heart. Partner bid one spade. I passed. Was it the wrong thing to do? Should I have said one nt?

The ONLY reason I posted it is I was considered the one in the wrong. I suppose I wanted to know if that was the concensus, not that it matters. I surely expected nothing other than that. In reality I've had much worse happen. I know how people are. I probably posted it in a weak moment. Pardon please.

I made a topic titled "The wrong foot" and cannot find it. Can someone help me?

I found the hand... 5h,4s,2d,2c. I was mistaken about the bid. I opened with hearts, op bid 2d, my p bid 2nt, I bid 3 spades and that was the contract. My reason for posting it in the forum is that I was considered the "bad guy," when all I did is react to my partner's rudeness. It seems as if I should have remained silent, no matter what was said to me. Not going to happen. :)

At a table of players I'd never played with before, I opened one heart, with 6 hearts. Op bid 2 diamonds and my partner bid 2NT. I said 3 hearts and all passed. I made the bid, during which my partner posted the hated ????? To my way of thinking the dummy stays quiet and doesn't question partner's play. After ending, my partner went into detail how she would have played the hand, other than how I played it. I sez, but, you weren't playing it, were you? Besides, you told me you had 11-12 points and you only had 9. She went berserk, saying she was letting me know she had diamonds covered. She said she bid properly and I was rude and crude. She left. We both claim intermediate status, although I realize I sometimes play like a beginner. Most of the time, players are pleasant, but, nothing annoys me more than a partner coming up with those ?????????? in the middle of a game, as if they want me to stop and explain to them what I'm doing. GRRR This is in the relaxed tables. Oh well........
