  1. Sacrilege I know, but try dropping Stayman. Gives too much information away for no net gain over the long term. NT often plays better even with a 4-4 fit. Try 2♣ = both majors so you won't miss all the major fits. Build your system on reducing declarer disclosure. There will be little support for my argument, but it works :)
  2. After a lengthy break while the children took up a lot of time, I am keen to play more quality bridge and online suits me well – big BBO fan. I live in the UK, so ideally would like a European time zone player looking to build a serious online partnership with time spent practising to build understanding as well as playing events. I have played to county representative level and enter the UK national team events such as Gold Cup, Crockfords etc but play little club based pairs – much prefer IMP scoring. I play SAYC online; not quite 2/1 but have a good set of system notes from my regular F2F partnership (who is not so keen online, hence this post). If you wish to explore further, we can exchange email addresses after sampling a few boards on the site.
  3. Take a lesson from poker - Put Partner on a Hand. The post mortem should always start: "I thought you had..." Re-evaluate with every turn of the bidding, and use your bids like poker chips to elicit the specific information needed to pinpoint the optimum contract.
  4. Thank-you AyunuS, the logic is clear even if GIB's decision was not the best!
  5. Odd miscounting error: http://tinyurl.com/7k4vlmp Partner has shown 6+ spades and 6-10 Total Points. Robot has 3 spades and 18 TPs (although his 2♦ rebid is limited to 16 TPs), so an easy game bid or at least a raise if feeling shy. Simple math, so hopefully easy to fix!
