  1. Same situation in our small club - include and exclude lists works well during registration. If for any reason you need to add subs later then the exclude list is not working. Last night our mostly friendly and nice play was seriously disturbed by a rude person already on the exclude list who got in as a "Sub- any". I think BBO could check against this list when inviting random subs.
  2. Today at 14:45 GMT (inside the allowed time frame) I set up a pairs tournament, 12 boards, 6 rounds of 2 with a max number of tables set to 40. I had 18 pairs registered, tournament failed to start with all registered pairs getting message "Error=Too many teams". Tried to redo same tournament with max 20 tables got the same error message. Anyone can give me any idea what was wrong or it's just some bug?
  3. :) I think we are talking about the same thing. Making ppl pay for free tournaments is increasing the number of players on the system and this making is more crowded and forcing BBO to limit free tournaments for the rest of us. The brick and mortar (I like your definition)clubs have been hostile until now and now they are using BBO to survive by charging ppl to play online.
  4. Maybe I haven't put the question correctly. My point was exactly what you are saying about the bail out of brick and mortar clubs. I don't think that it is correct for clubs and ppl to charge OUTSIDE of BBO for participating in free tournaments and in this way making the long standing members to suffer.
  5. This is a difficult time for BBO as everybody around the world is playing online and the system is under stress. BBO is doing a great job in giving all of us the possibility to keep playing and to clubs and federations to continue to organize tournaments. My question is: Is it morally correct to charge players for a resource that is provided for free? Some clubs are charging their members a participation fee outside of BBO and creating free tournaments. That is a club/person is making profit by using the stretched resources of BBO and in this way is creating a load on the system that is forcing BBO to create limitations for everyone. I don't think this is fair to the thousands of Bridge players that just want to be able to play.
  6. Thx for the reply! I checked SABF web site and it looks like they don't have anything on BBO except some private clubs like https://www.linksbridgeclub.com/bbo.html I am curious how are they allowed to organize paid tournaments on BBO (they charge about 1.3$/pp). Maybe they are paying something to BBO? This kind of arrangement could be a solution for us. We could easily find some funds to pay for the privilege to be allowed to make a tournament once or twice a week during peak hours.
  7. As I said in a previous reply: We have no NBO or any organization/institution in the country. What can we do? Is there anyone that we can contact or talk to in order to try and find a solution?
  8. Well.....This is Africa, Mozambique.....no NBO or whatever :( We (half a dozen of ppl) are keeping Bridge alive for the last 20+ years by self organizing and self financing. We are the only active club in the country with about 25-30 current members. I will appreciate if someone could contact me or give me a person I can contact in order to clarify the situation and maybe find a solution. Thank you!
  9. Question: If free tournaments are unavailable are there any way to pay and have a tournament organized during this time? "Free tournament creation is temporarily unavailable between 11 AM and 4 PM US Eastern Time." We are a small club and we use to pay a small fee every time we where playing live. I am sure we could pass on this to BBO somehow. It's not big, but every small thing helps if we find a mechanism to pay for the tournament, let's say fixed X$ for up to 10tables, Y$ for up to 20 tables etc.
  10. Hi all, I am new as TD, so please excuse my ignorance. BBO gave me the privilege to run a pairs tournament designed to substitute our small club life play during this difficult times. We are a small group and we would like to keep the tournament "private" and the list is working perfectly. I would like to understand the rules used by the system in creating the pairs movement depending on the number of boards and pairs defined in the tournament. What I am thinking about is full Howell or section based Mitchell movements and the rules the system uses in order to decide what to use. Thank you!
