  1. Rubber bridge comparison are entirely silly, the scoring is so different that partscore fights are not relevant at all. For my partnership the x is entirely reasonable, how otherwise can we balance after 1S-P-2S?
  2. A bit too strong for 3H, but that's the bid anyway.
  3. Not that likely if you are pretty sure the opps hold KQJ of spades.
  4. Don't like 4H with that hand. Either 2♦ and rebid whatever hearts, or 3♥ then rebid 4♠. 4♥ is like a blind shot - you could win big but this time you lose.
  5. X, I do not expect partner to have a lot of side strength to make 5H
  6. Pass, nothing to fancy. p probably dont have a lot, and wastage in round suits are likely
  7. My personal worst treatment was openind 2D as 18-19 bal or weak majors. After a few impossible 2NT we switch to weak only.
  8. If Flannery 2D-P-3M was a winner, wouldnt (weak majors)2D-P-3M a bigger winner?
  9. Using an opening to describe a specific hand is supposed a winner. The problem is that 2D space could have been used for hands that occur much more common like weak 2D, or hands that are much harder to describe by standard methods like weak two suiter.
  10. IMO I would close with 3N with a minimum. 5C could be too high. Is this bad?
  11. Pass, 2♥ is never forcing when you have infinite cue bids avaliable.
  12. General bridge logic: Forget about stoppers unless 1) opponents have bid a suit 2) your side has bid 3 other suits If you are going to bid 1NT, forget the above too.
  13. 4!C forcing is my bid. You need as little as !C Kxx to make 6, but you still need some support from partner.
  14. Why not 4♦ if it shows exactly this hand? It seems way too weak for 1♦, and partner will never knows what to do if you open 2♦ or 3♦ instead.
  15. 1. You don't lose your 4-4 fit while playing 5 card majors. Sequence like 1♣ P 1♦ P 1♥ shall show exactly 4 hearts. On the other hand, trying to locate a 5-3 fit when you opened a 4-card major is much harder. 2. Most intermediate/advanced players don't use long suit points anymore, instead they use their own judgement. I would open almost all 12, as well as 'good' 11. ('good' means either a good suit, hands with good shape, or good values like 2 aces.)
  16. 1♦ and 2♣ are both fine, all I want to know is partner's HCP range, he will tell me with his next bid.
  17. I still don't quite understand. Doubling their 8-card fit at 2 level is anti-LOTT.
  18. LHO is pretty much marked with ♠10, so go for the finesse for 12 tricks.
  19. 2♥ has always been overcalled on crap because 2♥x is game.
  20. neg x=4♠, unless GF hand with 5♠. 3♦=I also have diamond, keep bidding
  21. I still think it is OK to overcall 2♣ here. People only remember the occasional -800 when the suit breaks 5-1, they forget how many 7 IMPs partial swings they got because of the overcall, or the game this was not biddable if you dont overcall when you have balance of power.
  22. well, they say dont preempt over a preempt, but my hand could easily have game oppose as little as xx AKx xxxx xxxx, so 4♠ is mandatory.
  23. 5♦, I think my lack of ♣ control is crucial to partner's decision.
