hi, i was pleased yesterday to see so many stars in A Bridge Too Far ,(had a nce chat with luis, finally now him lol) always nice but after the tourney several in fact quit a few players told how much they apriciate the possiblitly to be on the same table and competing against worldclass players , i favor all players having a possiblty to play at their own level( beg/int topflight and so on) but i feel its also needed for everybody to play against different levels exspecially players who can and will improve their bridgeskills, so big thx to all experts and beyond to give us this chance greetings marc

hi, missed this a bit, this chatroom is ,was good idea if tds want to , some players finisch and want to compete inmediatly in next so that would cause trouble too, what sometimes happens is that players discuss their last hand using tournament chat , like, we should have bid 7 nt there its cold, others read this and still in bidding asking for aces(not sure if slam is possible), maybe change that if not to much trouble, no moree tournament chat after a player has finisched his tourney , maybe second part of this mess shoud be in improvements of software :D greetings marc

hi, i think its up to each tourney to decide what kind of standard they wich for.But some kind of chapter were all alertable bids coud be found would be handy to start with, maybe modifie it if needed and then use it in condition of contest, i hope there`s a way of uploading it in there, so some can use it when they like this standard of a tour, players competing in it will learn in time what standard of particully tourney is ;) :D greetings

hi, the list u mentionen beeing in chatbox besides lobby tournament runs quickly full when u have been privating to others( i get a lot of privates messages during tourney, just people saying thank you at start to name one, the least i replie is gl), a direct call( to specific td or group) would be handy to redirect calls when u`re busy handling a score adjust or similar things so u cant rush to that table , second it would be nice to rule togheter or discuss a problem that occured in a tourney, and exscpecially for directors on their first steps so they can communicate with an experienced one, i had mike(trpltrbl) to help me out, still gratefull for that but it isnt easy when u new and have noone to talk to i think greetings marc

hi, and for the record, we are talking about really bad baord leavers, they go out as a pair at a time(mostley) then u get a call to come to table and u see 2 red dots and a contract beein down in favor of the stayers,we NOT on a witchhunt with this, we NOT seeking out the ones with a poor connection, as inquiry pointed out there are other ways of handling that greetings

hi, its not the most favourable way of handdling things, i agree but a few days ago i had a tourneyhost in my tourney that left , when i had a talk about that she simply told me that when things going bad there`s no need to suffer and when u dont get along bridgewise with your partner you simply leave a tournement in progress, HOW ABOUT THAT?? need i to remind that she is a td. so when it becomes a common thing to do, what can u say to a player who leaves when even td leaves a tourney in progresss, nothing i think, so we still triyng to create a way of keeping our tourneys fun, when u host 4 or more times a day its very depressing always seeing the same rudiness occurs, its becoming normal i think for players to jump around and play(stay) in the events where they are doing ok. MY POINT HERE IS WHEN NEW TDS DONT READ CONDITIONS OF CONTEST WHY SHOULD PLAYERS HAVE TO KNOW THESE RULES? we`ll see what happens, can tell that i have very good responses of players when received a mail and we all agree that we can ban whoever we feel is repatedly in offence of very clear rules(may we add that it is done with keeping in mind that everybody deserves several chances before action is taken) i think sending a direct mail is a good thing to let players now we dont agree with certain behaviuor greetings marc

hi, when having a private meeting today with golfacer he brought up an interesting point, he asked if there was a possibility to make some sort file where all alertable bids are listed ( a td conduct regarding " bridge in play"), maybe a very good idea to try find a way of all tds willing to use the same standard of dealing with non-alerts,failure to explain e.o.Also for players a file where they can find the proper explanation to give when a query is made i think in time if we find a way to handle these problems we can make life easier to tds, but also for players who have acess to the same file so "not nowing or any other excuse " is not beeing used over and over. i hope to get some positive responce to this as well greetings marc

hi, we are all aware of this problem, it has been discussed in this forum also, but we( a group of tds) are trying to stop this very rude behaviour, we send a mail to persons doing this each time they do this, the names are listed central, and if and when a name occurs to often we bann this person in group( all tds at the same time for the same time period) we`re not doing this likely and only after seruios prove , first mails have been send, most offenders replie and saying that they are sorry and willing to change this behaviuor in the future witch we tds welcome to say the least, all these replies are included in the list next to the person, all to do it in the most fair way we can, some even replied to us stating that they werent aware of this policy , ok accepted but u do now is our anwer to that, any td out there willing to cooperate on this is welcome to give me a sign, we feel that we`re not willing to public list these players(some do ask that because they want to know if they pair up with a player like that). the reason for this that we dont want to mark players forever, we believe in second chances.however we feel the need to try and stop this, tds involved are strongly behind this idea in order to try and keep bbo a friendly place to enjoy our favourite game.maybe somebody still asks why we do this. a fine example today .somebody left after a 4♥ contract down8, yes 8 leaving the poor sub to deal with that score, i saw then that player 15 minutes later playing in another tourney(he missed his p cue bid).we hoping to get some positive response in this try to make a change. greetings marc

hi, i think the key with antivirus programs is to do updates very regular, i do it on adaily basis, i download a lot from p2p and i `m sofare!!! very happy with the way my antivirus software works , it takes a little while to figure it out but once u have the settings ok, even add and spyware is stopped , always scan before you open an attachement is a must also greetings

hi, i dont know what f-secure costs but (i think its expencise while its used by compagnies) and as for norton antivirus beeing garbage and cant repair, just go the website when your pc is infected and you`ll find all you need, i`m ask regular to repair infected pc`s, all i needed sofar was nav2004 pro, if it cant enter u dont need to repair it but we all have preferences, thats whats live makes interesting greetings marc

hi, very sure that norton antivirus 2004 pro and having your firewall on is best way to protect your pc, very regular update is a must , i do it every day and i havent had a problem so far, as for the question who makes these things, not very sure if antivirus software developers are completely innocent, dont know but all these newsalert about threarts sure will improve their sales, and sure there are some wizzkids who like to annoie nice peoples lives:(

hi, replie to sceptic number 8, i feel that most if not all td wish to list those players(leavers) , i do it , i send mail and second offence i bann them from my tourney`s but most have a way for dealing with that differently, so all these players get a change a doing that several times to each director before that td blacklists that player, i feel the need to work on this togheter but as long as only the td who are regular host in our tourney`s do it, we `re not gaining much . 9. plaese make it impossible for blacklisted players to get on the sublist, i got one who seems to be getting pleasure to slip in between to mess things up, and as we send invites we have no way of stopping this B) greetings marc

hi, i`m starting to notice that some players use the Avg- as a bonus , they try to get max scores and if and went set they let clock run out , a couple of 100 and a few 40 ,( we all can count) results in coming in above average and in survivor , they survive till last rounds , when we are called to those tables things go faster as long as we`re there,, and its hard to adjust , even give A+ to non offending pairs when they could have a far better score isnt far at all greetings marc

hi, have found myself in the same kind of situation when hosting, it seems to work out best for me to write down the names when things have to go fast, send invites when u have time(less red dots) , some signup as sub but it looks they only want to play with an expert or so, would very much like to see that players finally are going to use their own possiblilty to find a sub if their partner is offline, it works great( u cant sub while your partner is still online) but nobody reads it (sofar). doesnt answer your question mike , hope it at least helps you in someway, think we need to have software change for that,maybe when a player refused twice he is taken of that list automatically and remove those who are playing in your tourney or other tourneys would help you figur out howmany avaible subs one actually has greetings marc

hi, another great improver would be that before call to td is made a player actually has to write(if not no call is made) something in there and we td can reply on that as we see fit, if we get a call that a finesse didnt work :rolleyes: yes, it happens we then could private that player wheter or not its needed to visit that table, i ask this because i find it very stressfull to come to a table when several calls are waiting and the problem is solved(of that table) and we simply dont get an asnwer when we ask if there is a problem, when i call a td when playing i start typing things i want to say and when td arrives i simply click chat(in case space needed was longer then chatbox in call directors box can handle) maybe let all bbo`rs host one tourney and see for themself lol :rolleyes: greetings marc

hi, 7. displaying tablenumber in movie wont help in survivor as tables where the hand beeing played can be out of play , better would be to allow tds to watch the players movie( i really dont know how hard it is to do so in advance sorry uday for making this remark), problem solved and you can discuss it with players while beeing there at their table so play isnt slowed down because of this sometimes back-forth talk about a result. another thing i would like to see is some time between actually ending of tourney and results been displayed so if needed one can go to travellers if missed an adjust cause of time , maybe even an overview of all AVG still in there so we can quickly adjust , takes about 3 minutes or so to adjust lots when u have nothing else to do, something else when u put on options players at bottom = south u really wont need any directions of players , its all in there , when i adjust i always use s for n/s and e for e/w to keep the paste going and always after seeing mobie of hand played, no tablenumber no adjust with me but off course all are free to adjust however they like or run their tourneys the way they want(thx for pointing this out in the topics mike :rolleyes: ) take care:) :rolleyes: :D B) :D

hi, answering ece in his question how, when u create a tournement that option is displayed in the edit tournament box, a thought however , how anybody is going to handle the problem of (dis)connection, i have been playing in msngaming zone in their private bridgeclub but while playing there i saw very rarely a player been disconnected, makes me wonder if players on bbo are asking then a refund when they were disconnected for whatever reason, its all in future but those where the first things that came in my mind when i saw this entrance fee option just mindspinning but hey whats a forum for greetings marc :rolleyes:

hi, about skipping the board for the overall score, i see here things like( 100score in first board then skip every board after) , first i think we td will be informed if a pair isnt playing anymore:) then they will be subbed, secondly, they only can skip their last board of every round and if not finisched their first they get a- there so they wont be gaining much with that tactic unless they like to see the sub that took their place in topfinischers cause they got a great start and didnt mess up in games to come, after about 20 secs when one player isnt bidding we get calls, then after two minutes play the slow play calls comes, hell, somebody called me yesterday to complain his finesses didnt work while the percentages where favourable :rolleyes: , what i would like to see is the possibilty of expanded penalty adjustments , so far i know we can only adjust to 40%, but i have had occasions where that didnt cut it and i would like to give out a clean nice 0% (false explanations delibertly to mislead opps, repeatedly not explaning when query is made, dummy talk what to play, e.o ) but as stated before we cant be perfect while it is a online thing only triying our best to be fair in the best way we can B) :D :D :rolleyes: greetings marc

hi, very good question marta, i think the only fair thing that can be done is changing software about this, maening that unrecheived hands (less then 5 minutes to go) would be automatically assignid with the average of the players(pairs) itself, for some giving a= means that they raise their score, for others it lowers significally, so allowing to not take that hand into count would change nothing on scoring , in mp, pairs with for example 65% will keep that, second i want to say i`ve been experimenting with 3boards/round, it doesnt work because you get a lot of problems marta mentioned above, so i changed back to 2boards/round greetings marc :P :D :P B) :rolleyes: -_- ;) :) :wub:
