hi u might want to check out http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/acbl_alt.htm#alert rule 19 there, i think its official acbl alerting procedure, if not coorect me please in any case with the self alert we have to do online, when ever i get an explanation from opps in private i ask him/her to please use the bidding box for that so i know my partner knows also. 95% of players is using jac trsfers after strong nt so for not making alerting and adjusting any harder then it is already , maybe good thing to use that as a standard, natural response after 1 nt is alertable, weak nt also alertable and so on what is used more widly isnt a bad thing when it becomes standard, uncommen things are uncommen and therefore need alert, only my simple suggestion to cut down the rules a little and actually spend more time with playing, having fun then . in this cause i think i adjust when i was called to the table, have to review the full hand before i say defantly, but a warning 100%, i think abalucy and A bridge to far are similar (in rules i ment) and a clear guideline is was has been told several times, "alert when u wonder if your bid needs an alert". i think your winning in bridge should be a result of your bidding expertice and cardplay, not from what u can hide from opps and thefore trick them, besides some louzy points in the thing ben mentioned, what is the gain and possibly they felt some guilt after seeing the cold 4!S and the conversation between ben and partner, im sure i woud marc

hi, in this case it woud be very easy, aldough mc bruce announces a lot in his tourneys i never saw him anounce what "sayc" in fact is according to his standards(besides the link to his site wher u have to do obligate reading witch probaly not a sool is going to do), maybe announce and obligate the sayc basic cc that everybody can find once u clicked on cc woud be a good start, i too post tournament rules, hardly ever one is reading them(took a unwanted test, co-tds said in info tournament rules wher posted and they werent=they didnt had the linfile and i simple forgot), got one replie in 4 tourneys . only thing helping is to keep reminding players what your rules are, maybe continui this during the tournament , and if u want to stick to that dble example(i feel its rather important to announce it then because im sure it happens alot) and like i see in the posts great confusion if its right/wrong, if there is a right wrong to it in any case. further i hope for mc bruce sake not all "non sayc" bids are reported to him, he might wanna need a couple of co-tds then. 3. i tottally agree with uday post( i wish i had same possiblity to express myself in english lol ) marc

hi, i read some not so accurate things here. 1. after one bad baord u are not out, started today with 0% and 16 % first round and made it till last cut(35% cuts tournament) , first cuts are always after 4 boards so one bad board doesnt cut you 2, players are so happy when they make all cuts so there are more feeling a winner, so players seem to enjoy 3.Every sport has his cuts, i think every international bridge game had some preeliminaries too(how to decide who can play for a country or not if u dont) 4, i tried a new tourney (swiss movement) , unfortunaly several that are scoring bad seem to disapear every tourny , in swiss u get a lot more demands like i cant continui with this partner, he no advanced, he lie in profile and so on(plaese all that are disagreeing with the disconnect factor before u start all over again, be my co-host and you`ll talk very different after)We are hosting for the main public not a private club,HUGE DIFFRENCE, think i have a fair comparison because i do both. For all these reasons i changed the movement to 0% cuts so only the pairs with one missing player are excused, can be that some unfortunate pair is excused who had the intention to continui and just a that second when round change got completely offline(if sooner u can always ask for a substitution) 5. no such things as weak pairs having influence in other ways then every other movement, even in a striaght mitchell movement u are not playing afainst every other pair so must be lucky wher u start first and against who u play if u hope to play the "weak" pairs.when i start today in tourney with my 0% 16 i was weak? sure was first round, to bad for others we dint play so "weak" rest of the tour 6. with 3000 people online we host +- 100 tables so the vast majority seems to like these tourneys(several others are on at the same time) 7. in our tourneys we replace a player that is offline when asked even at the end of rounds so they can continui(99% now knows u are cut if u or you partner is missing, why we know that, becuase we hardly ever get a question "why we are cut" anymore. 8. It seems to me that the statement , "must be masochist to like these cuts"isnt correct either while most seem to find that continuing when a partnership isnt working(scoring bad board after board) is the real masochisme, and i can understand someone saying when u have to play 16 more baords with a partnership not in "full harmony"(understatement)it can be rather painfull, lets not forget that most of partnerships are casual ones or pick up, they it seems like to "test" new partners and if not what they expected quickly move on instead of what some call it "torture" if they have to continui i think i forget something or dint explain myslef good in some points but your replies will filter that out so i can correct if needed, we among friends here anyways marc

hi, didnt understood that from first post, sorry bo:);):) yes, good thing to log chat for mutiple raesons(rudiness,cheating,whatever) wish there was a way to let director access recently chat beeing told at a table, there is off course with printscreen but most dont know and sometimes language barriers and as i said before, most players dont log chat witch its sad when u need it marc

hi, what i dont understand in your post bo is that when someone accused of cheating he /she/they admitted chaeting u coud send log chat to abuse, think if someones admits he cheated and its logged and send it there woud be a strong case for banning these players. also i think as player it can be handy to log chats , with theses messengers beeing used for chaeting there can be a ocasionaly misclick in sending chat to the wrong programm , a couple of times players have mentioned me that but most dont log their chat, too bad, i advice all to log it for several reasons besides cheating. i recently started looking at winners in my tourneys too like ben but this cots lots of time, cotds say to me "good luck" when i tell them i gonna look deepper into hands and my time is aldough im lots online limited like everybody elses time they coud spend on this, and there is always some posible explanation, like the 4♥ bid saying p has 6 at least cause its "goulash" tourney, i just dont understand the p, he sees p opening 1♦ then rising his hearts to 4, i have one question, why pass and not 4 nt and start investigating slam. marc

Given that it's a program, I'm sure it is possible to calculate who has held what so far and somehow balance things to make it fairer, and far more enjoyable for ALL to play in. hi, and then we tds gets demands for adjust because a partnership calculated she came 2 points short of avarage because not"fair". the only problem i ever had was tourney with predealt hands and straight mitchell movement the td obvuisly didnt knew and all points went to one side. i told td that, he was under the impresiion it was random movement:);):):):):):):)

hi, maybe a possibilty in the set-up(format) to allow " kibits on partner only" when dummy en then combined with kibitzers not allowed woud be a way to at least have a possibilty to host tourneys were it woud be less likely to play unethical in,Nothing is waterproof off course but this coud be a first step in making it harder to cheat. Maybe im wrong and it doesnt help also, i dont know.must confess i havent given this much thought while i believe that all this thinking , talking about cheating encourages the not that confident people to go "protect"themselves against "all this cheating" by doing it themselves. I get great proud feelings when i get a positife score in i field that by far outreache me in playing skills, when i come in with a score below average im only looking more at movies and travellers to see where i went wrong or where to do better. this weeks abalucys game i came and incredible(for my standards) 4the place(should have won wasnt that i bid and played a very bad 3nt-4), a "friendly"kibitzer( like someone said it) there woud have made victory very reacheble but at what cost? seeing my name on top and taking away my pleasure,proudness and "yessssssssss" feeling that i had with my fair fourth place just doesnt seem worth it marc

hi, there is a bug in tournaments area, once u are on one table and u click lobby or tables or tournaments and u move from there to another table, the scroll arrows are in a diffrent place, very annoiying while u cant see current tricks played or from who made them , impossible to adjust then, please help, happens with several tds greetings marc

hi, yes please stop enemies form entering tournaments as subs, have one particully bothering me in this way, he comes in says "hi&lol" to me because he knows im subbing him out again. he does it as a game and i get tired of this, all tds knows this player and they discuss it with me when his name is displayed for the first time on the sublist, then we know we have another tourney that none td is feeling comfortably with cause he keeps doing it time and time again to annoie us. secondly give us please tool to avoid players finding their own subs so we can check intentionel disconnects and prevent kibitzers coming in. up to each host wheter or not to do that, another thing : please make diffrent for allowing undo& tournament chat, in some tourneys i would like to enable undo but tournament chat i nevr want to have on, players discussing last hand when they done is not a good thing thx marc

hi, i went over the my hnds DB and i think u score wasnt for any reason displayed correctly, your 94% is correct accoredingly to scores made by other pairs, u have with 3♥X the second or third best score so dont mind the A- still displayed i think, and your adjusted score is in fact the one u got, i have to add and devide all your scores to be sure if u were coorectly displayed in the tournament results displayed right after tourney but i think u are , as u say 55% isnt A- minus, tricky situation last seconds last board played aldough i hope adjusting a result even after a tourney shoud be displayed correctly somewhere beacuse i in most tourneys adjust the last table in play, all (kibitzers)want to know their results and nobody wants to wait longer as necceasarry . So excuse me if your score wasnt displayed correctly but i think this is software responsible.As for your alerts and explanation, well done, i only can wish all had the same courtesy :D thx abe for your feedback marc spwdo on bbo

hi, dont know who was the td , unfortunally i wasnt there at the time(had my kids over), can u please give me your board, bbo names and then director who did the adjust? so i can check up on the hand beein played, talk with the director and post if needed the correct adjust, must say immedaitly that myhands,movie and results all have a diffrent score beeing displayed, im not sure why. secondly every adjust will be displayed coorectly. the board after when u changed tables(unfortunatly not after last round).If 2 tricks were to play and u made them obvuiosly i dont see any reason why this wasnt adjusted accordingley, i dont read in your mail that u had a wrong adjust, only maybe a "finally" saying it took too long? well, this needs time . secondly when something like this happens, instructions for tds are to discuss this and to add comments on players profile so we next time can react accordinly when they "whine" again as u put it. greetings marc "spwdo" on bbo p.s. want to thank tds "ariakas", "borko","mozersanyi","kernow" to make "a bridge too far" possible while i was occupied , i wanted to cancell tourney but got overwhelming calls from players to ask for help and let the tourney be held anyways

hi, 3 reasons not to replace a sub. 1.replaced player often(not always) has same poor connection next rounds 2.replaced players when they get back often go to their former table to kibits on their partner( not fair if seen hands) 3.not fair to the sub, and i think u woud be quickly finding yourself with lesser and lesser subs. i feel u cannot ask from players that they come in , ply one card and get subbed out again, who is subbing anyways?excused players from that tourney, friends who do you that favor, players just finished another tourney , players coming in to late, players whos partner was offline at start.
