I dont think its playable in natural system, if you like to open on crap, then SSO (literally in polish System of Weak Openings) is your way. It was long time banned to use outside Poland, and hardly its palyed even in Poland now, but i see this as only alternative to open mini constructive hands.

Bidding directly 4-card ♥ suit with bad hand after weak nt have some appeal, but normally transfering to 4-card major is bad, you give extra chance to paly doubled, and as mentioned earlier, runouts after nt should handle bad hand with 4-card major that cannot stayman.

You are 3 seat both nonvul with this hand Ktx, Jx, Ax, KJ9xxx, whats your opening, context is (11)12-14 NT, 5-card majors, 1club is any 15-20 NT without 5-card major or natural unbalanced 12+, so you dont have precision like 2club availble, would you open this hand 1club or 1NT, does style if whenever possible you avoid opening 1nt with 6 minor changes your decision?

Your opponnents open std 15-17NT, you play multiLandy vs NT and hold this nice hand.here[hv=pc=n&e=s5hjt7543dqjt8ck5&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1n2d3ndppp]133|200[/hv] I decided to bid Multi 2♦ Would you consider overcalling 2♥ as ♥+minor? What is your lead here given partner double (asking lead in your long suit), and what minimum would you expect for partner double? What meaning is std meaning of X if i would bid 2♥ instead of 2♦ multi?

FANTUNES REVEALED by Bill Jacobs
kupi007 replied to PrecisionL's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
I didnt read a book, but I watch fantunes a lot on vugraph, as well as I tried to play it for short period of time and in 1 partnership i play system that have a lot fantunes elements. Some things stroke me. 1. Its true that 2-bids are high variance and are entirely dependent on opps bidding jugment, if they treat it as just weak 2's, they will gain a lot, but against prepered opps i dont think its so great, i use to play weak 2's on same shapes but with more std 8-11 range, and it work for me, true you often force yourself to play in inferior partscore, but most of the time opps come to rescue and play in wrong strain or level. But i must disagree that 10-13 range is narrow, its not because with shapes ranging from 6332 or 5431 to 6520 and similar makes diffrance in playing huge, and imo bigger than std weak 2's 6 card 6-11. 2. Weak NT on shapes like 5M422, 6m322 or 4441. i think its gain, weak NT is great preempt, and having good playing strength allow easy escape if doubled, its also difficult to defend, and i dont think there is magic way to find 44 major fits on 24 or so HCP after weak NT, most of the time if opps have 44M game they are stuck after weak NT, and chances are bigger they have game in majors if you have some 6332 or 5422. 3. Biggest gains for Fantunes are in competition after 1x openings, knowing partner have extra shape or strength allows for more aggressive X-ing by responder, but i dont think their slam bidding is so great i found they often face known 2/1 problem, right strain, but wrong level(but can survive given excellent card play), most of their bidding focus on shape showing than point showing, so its innevitable, grands missing 1 ace happens to them a lot more often than what we may expect from WC pair. -
Reading all the posts, now i realized problem is more complex... 1. I dont think neboulous 2♣ made damage, even if it would promise 4, still responder may prefer to support ♠ with and marginal hand, creating same issues to what suit is actually agreed. 2. If responder take capitancy he will never get known about Q♠ or K♣, dependig on what suit will be agreed. 3. I dont think 3♦ by opener may be splinter, couse we cannot splinter into side suit w/o known support to this suit...maybe nebolous 2♣ isnt so great after all:) 4. I also dont think 4♣ after 3♠ may be minorwood, couse of same reasons as 3, although minorwood here would make grand easy to bid. 5. 3NT as sirious/non sirious, problem of suit agreement still exist, but even if not, i m not great fan of removal of jugment from chossing 3NT instead of 4M on 8card fit. 6. After reading everything i still dont see purpose in 3♠, i think that simple 4♣ as agreement of ♣ would lead to grand(unless opener have problems with counting to 13)

It may contain 4♠ only with hand with 5+♣, other hands with 4♠ go via Jacoby. I was sitting as W, my p said that he took 4♣ as minorwwod and 5♣ was mentioned answer (2A+Q). From my point of view the bid that made most of the damage was 3♠, i just see no point in setting weaker suit on slam going hand, and later 4♣ was intended as cue on "agreed" ♠, partner said he show me Hxx in ♠, imo w/o suit agreed first it cant be.

Can 4♣ be taken as minorwood if 2C not promise 3? And what you think about 4♣ insterad of 3S?

[hv=pc=n&s=shdc&w=skq943ha9d8cakt95&n=shdc&e=sa87htdakjtcq7632]399|300[/hv] Bidding went(opps pass) W opens bidding is 2seat: 1♠-2♣(2+ 3way GF, deny 4♠ if balanced) -3♣(4+extras)-3♠-4♣-5♣-6♣ context is 2/1 with weak NT and sound 1M openings I had disagreement about this hand with my partner, and i would like to ask how you understand subsequent bids playing or not playing minorwood if that matters.

It was propably mentioned in other treads, but Gazzilli shines if you exclude minimum 5332 from your 1M openings, either by playing 12-14NT with 5M or 14-16NT with non-forcing 1NT response, so after 1M-1NT all 11-13 (IF you open 5332 11 1M) get passed out in 1NT. I played both ways and it workded well, especially 12-14NT with possible 5M is IMPs winner (not sure MP's winner also)

We have simple auction playing some sort of natural system, 1M-1NT-2x/3x by opps, what later DBL by either opener or responder is? Does it affect if you play SAYC, 2/1 or 2/1 with weak NT(1M 15-20NT or unbalanced). Is there any expert consensus here?

Competitive bidding over semiartificial 1club
kupi007 replied to kupi007's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Thx for insigfull comments, now another shot... partner bid 1♦ or 1♥(transffers to higher amjor, and we want to show 4card support after overcall of 1♦/1♥ bid, any ideas how to destinguish balanced hands from weak or strong unbalanced with support, for now(like in offensive bidding) i just simple raise with 4card and 15-17balanced, same bid is used to show ♣ hand with 4card support, of course some hands maybe put into some sort of supp X with 3card fit, but what if partner bids after opps overcall, now no DBL is availble? -
I started to play something that is 2/1 with weak 1NT, unbalanced 1♦ and 1♣ being 15-20 NT with any 5minor or 12+ unbalanced ♣. Whole system is sound(preempts 8-11) if that matters. Problem is what is best treatment after weak jump overcalls after particulary 1♣ opening, but also 1♦ and 1Major, the last are difficult couse of 15-20NT range, I m thinking about Lebenshol here, but never played lebenshol after 1suit opening and preempt, if we assume Leb, what hand would be expected do break 3♣ puppet? Any ideas from experianced with problem players would be great.

Thx for quick reply If in auction A 3♦ is forcing, does responder 4♦ is nonforcing, couse personally i would be closer to view 3♦ as NF, and subsequent bids by responder as: 4♦ minorwood on ♦, 3 or 4♥ signofs, new suit cue(shortness, A or K allowed?) in support of ♦

Welcome all Is there any standard treatment handling negative response to strong 5/5 gazzilli variant. Assuming you play constructive rasies and 2♣ as 17+ with unbalanced hands. What those auctions mean(opps pass)? A.1♥-1NT-2♣-2♥-3♦-? replacing ♦ with ♣ change anything? B.1♥-1NT-2♣-2♥-4♦-? C.1♥-1NT-2♣-2♥-2NT-? Is 2NT forcing? If we assume that any response to new suit after 2♣ by responder is forcing what it's supposed to be in those auctions, especially A and B? Does 3♦ or 4♦ are game forcing?
