Sorry for not stating my question properly. I have been told that in a bridge tournament a tr rules that 5 played cards be withdrawn. I can't imagine any situation in which the td could have rulrd that. So a theoretical question. What ight have happened?
-
The TD might decide to withdraw 5 played cards due to an irregularity. Is it possible?
-
In state level tournaments do WBF rules allow 'No Psyches at any stage policy'? Can conditions of contest state that there will be no appeals committee?
-
I was told that in a scrambled Mitchell movement 25% of the total deals should be 'arrowswitched'. Is that true? If yes, please explain why.

In a tournament there were 29 teams. The format was swiss league 7 preliminary rounds. Top 8 teams to play a final play off round Robin to decide the final top place ranking. A team got a bue in round 3. In my country the team which gets a bye is deemed to have got 12 vps and the draw is made accordingly. While deciding the final ranking the team which had received 12 vps for the bye had 62.88 in remaining 6 rounds. They finished at 8 th place by virtue of the 12 vps awarded for 3rd round bye. It is the contention of the 9 th placed team that the 12 vps are only for convenience of making the draw. While deciding the final rank they should be given their average ( 62.88/6=10.48) for the 6 rounds actually played and not 12. In that case the 9th placed team would have finished in the top Is their merit in this argument? Are their any wbf guidelines? Zasanya.

[hv=pc=n&s=sh5dkjt9876caqt98&n=sjt92haj862da3ck4]133|200[/hv] Playing Fantunes we had the following muddles bidding sequence. 1♥by North 3♠by south . In fantunes this means 10-15 GF with minors 5-5 I completely forgot about it and alerted as splinter. West doubled showing strength in ♠ Although I had only 13 hcp I figured I had no wasted values in spades and cued ♣ King in case P was slammish. My P cued ♦ thinking I agree to clubs I signed off in 4♥ lol. My P cued 4♠ I bid 4NT which to me was turbo showing 2 key cards with ♥ as trumps. My P jumped to 6♣ which I took as choice of slams! I picked 6♥and East Doubled. My P bid 7♣which raher confused me but since East a player I respect had doubled 6♥ I saw no reason to change now . After the ♠lead ♣turned out to be 4-2 with J doubleton and ♦ were 2-2. Question . Is it possible to bid 6♦if not 7 with natural and more scientific ;) methods?

Ethical Players Vs Cheaters
zasanya replied to zasanya's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I followed the discussion on bridgewinners about cheating and I got the impression that the pairs accused of cheating indeed had a very tainted reputation. Many of the top players have openly stated there that they had suspected/known that these pairs were cheating. One of the pairs was admonished and punished when they were juniors and Mr Bobby Wolfe had even officially complained against another ten years ago.Now I am not saying Brogland or Helgemo/Helness KNEW about their teammates but surely they must have heard some loud whispers and surely they must have noticed some great results in their favour from apparently illogical plays and surely they have enough analytical ability to strongly suspect that there is a strong possibility of unethical behaviour and surely they are good enough to find another team worthy of their skills or even to prevail upon the sponsor to find a clean pair? And if this has not happened in the past why not consider it now, instead of cribbing about the inaction of authority? Cribbing may be a strong word and my apologies in advance if the words offend someone. Seems the malaise of using inflammatory language is infectious. Please note that I have the highest respect for the players named and therefore I expect them to be proactive.A few months ago Fantunes were gods for me.They no longer are. The players have certain rights but don't they have certain duties? -
A very good idea. A similar thing happens in JEC Vs stars matches. The comments by kibs adds to the pleasure of watching these matches. When I used to be a vugraph operator I used to make an announcement that anyone who wants to commentate may ask me and I would allow that person to commentate. I do not know if such a procedure is till possible as I have not done vugraph for a long time.

Most active bridge players are very concerned about the attitude of the officials who are in charge of administering bridge tournaments. All of them believe that officials have been inactive as far as catching cheaters is concerned. I am more concerned about the inaction of ethical bridge players. Why don't they simply refuse to play in a team which includes players against whom there are whispers loud enough to strongly suspect unethical behaviour. If enough number of ethical strong players do it one of the following 3 things may happen. 1) The cheaters will not be a part of strong teams and will not have an opportunity to play in top level tournaments. 2) The WBF will notice that certain pairs who were successful at one time are now being shunned. WBF can then concentrate on the videos of these players thus greatly reducing the policing job. 3) The cheaters may change their methods and become ethical. Am I being naive?

Cheating Allegations
zasanya replied to eagles123's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I understand from reliable sources that Klukowsky Gawrys are not playing 'their' system. They had to play with a system which was already submitted by some other pair. This makes their performance even more praiseworthy. I may be wrong but I believe Zmud and Ballicki were considered the best polish pair. So this team has shown that even without their supposedly best pair they can still perform. -
Cheating Allegations

I do not think any NBO or any player protested before the matches started. Not even a token protest.Does not seem right to make a noise now. And one has to admit that the polish team has played extremely good bridge. -
Cheating Allegations

The WBF allowed Poland to play. The team has played well to reach final. No allegations against the players concerned. So why make an issue out of it now? -
