Thx Luis, this was something I needed. I have been looking around for it for a while and know I found thx to you :) I am looking forward about the other stuff you are going to post. I normally play 2/4 against NT and 3/5 against suit but I only lead 5th from even amount of cards, to make it more readible. Mike :D

Ugly choices, but I have to do something. looks like opps hands might be played in ♥. So they can make 2 ♦ but not 3, I will play a ♦ back, the 5 to let pd know I hold nothing in ♦. Mike :D
-
Lots of bidding on only 10 trumps and very few points. So unbalanced hands, so I am fairly sure the ♥ ruff is going to get painfull. I play for ♣ ace to be good. Mike :D
-
Yes, I agree with 1 NT. We have a double fit and I do have a nice hand for my 1 NT bid, all the hand is about is pretty much how many ♥ my pd has, and also how good his ♠ and ♦ are. I will bid 5 ♠ and hope pd is on the same wavelength, if I was short in ♥ I would have bid 4 ♥. So he must know, hopefully, that I am asking about his trumpsuit and his ♥ holding. And no, I don't play Exclusion Blackwood in pd's opening suit. Mike :D

I ain't passing, so I will bid my longest and bestest suit ♥. But thank God I don't play cardshowing silly X in that situation. Mike :D

Volunteer Directors Needed Please
Trpltrbl replied to hallway's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
I am willing to help but I can't handle a set schedule because of my work. If you see me online just ask me, and I will almost always say yes. Mike :D -
Remaining count, tends to unblock suit. And I have never played otherwise, I think it is about the only part of my bridge game that has never changed. Mike :D

Nice hand to play 2 way NMF. I tend to agree that a passed hand can't really force anything, but I do play NMF or 2 way in that situation, showing like a max passed hand 11 maybe even 12 HCP and it is forcing upto 2 NT. But if you open 1 ♦ you don't have these problems as much. Mike :D
-
I think ♥ finesse is going to work after the X. So I will play a ♣ to the Q at trick 2, if ♠ 2-2 and I win the Q of ♣ I might mention that if I was going to be in slam I might as well have been in grandslam. Mike :D
-
Q2 is the easiest, J of ♣ need to be doubleton, and the ♥ need to behave, either singleton or doubleton J or Jxxx(x) onside. Q1 you can play for a bad trump break, but you still need the ♥ to behave as above. Make sure you ruff the ♠ with the 10 and 8 of ♣. Mike :D

When playing in a test your skill tournament you know something is up with that hands, that's why I think it is very silly to let people know ahead of time. Let them know on last brd of the last round. Finessing the J of ♠ is done probably because of that. They couldn't be knowing more then they should otherwise they would never ever bid 7♦ to play. And I think North needs to go back to school, if opps go down in grandslam you have a great score without a X too. Mike :D

♣ back, I will not touch the ♥ since I might just give up a for sure winner by doing that. If pd was void in ♠ I am sure I would have gotten a high♣ lead. Mike :)
-
X, support. Mike :(
-
Any attack on a suit could be very bad, I am passive this time with ♠ back, pd might need his save exit(s) in ♥ later. Mike :(
-
I'll go on with 4♦ and after 4♠ by pd I will bid 5♣, hopefully pd has all the info now to make a good decision. I am not a big supported of precision for this reason. Trying to find what is going on at a wayyyy to high level. Mike :(
-
And on the hand's play I will go to my hand with a ♣ and play Q of ♦. I am sure they will not make it easy and cover with the K, now I can play either the ♥ King to be onside or to be 3-3 or the ♣ to be 3-3 or have 2 of J109 of ♣ have shown up, and have west only have 2 ♣. Against me suits never break 3-3 so I am going after the ♦'s. Mike :(
-
Ben, Are you, when playing online or in real, also sitting there with a calculator and calculating all your chances ? Because in that case you need to score about an 90+% on each brd to even out with all the time penalties hehehehe. Mike :(
-
Why would they bid 5♣ with a good hand ? I think opps are just preempting, so I will make a X, I have a very very minimum hand and maybe 2 defensive tricks, looks more like 1 to me. I see no way to make 6♦ and if pd has the prefect dummy I am sure he'll make an overridding decision. Mike :(

[hv=d=s&v=b&s=sak9xha1098xxdck10x]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] 1♥- p- 2♦- p 2♥- p- 3♦- p 3 NT- p- 4♣- X 4♦- p- 4 NT 4♣ = Gerber 4♦ = showing 2 Aces 4 NT = what does this show, ask ? Mike :( PS. I prefer just short answers, and only about 4 NT.

I think you solve the whole problem by mostly common sense. My pd's, thank God, don't bid 2♥ with 3 and 4 ♠'s, so I don't have that problem. So now the question, somewhat, is what 3♠ means or should mean. I play it as showing a max hand for my 2♥ bid and nice ♠ control. So now I need to find out about pd's other cards, so I will bid just 4♣ as cuebid for ♥, if pd can't bid 4♦ I am signing off in 4♥. He just needs to many perfect cards for me, and he can still have them. If pd holds the A ♠ AQ ♥ and K ♣ and something like J10♦ I am sure he will bid 4 ♠ after I sign of. Mike :(
-
If my pd had a ♥ stopper I am sure he would have bid 2 NT, since he didn't I am happy I play good/bad NT so I can bid 3♣ showing this type of hand. I fnot playing good/bad NT I will bid 4 ♣, I have a great playing hand with many controls. Mike :(
-
4♣ either minorwood, if you are smart enough to use that, or just plain forcing and get there by cuebidding, if pd passes, he'll be spending a lot of time at pdshipdesk looking for new pd. Mike :(
-
I would bid 4 NT if I want to go to minor suit game. But I think X is a very nice bid too, telling you have a max hand for your NT bid and also showing game interest. I think I opt for X, showing the more balanced hand. Mike :(

Gerber and Blackwood in Acol
Trpltrbl replied to X-Punkyfish's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I am not a big fan of Gerber but very seldom it does have it use. I like to play also something called RKC Gerber, which is after you transfered and then bid Gerber, which is RKC for the suit you transfered too. And as for using Gerber to find about Jacks to bid Grandslam  , you need to possibly know about specific Jacks but not the amount. I haven't laughed that hard in about a week.... Mike :D -
4♠, pd comes in Vul at 3 level, so he must have at least 9 cards in majors and probably 10. Mike
