In my eyes a typical 1♥ followed by a 3♥ rebid. My ♦ are just not good enough to bid at 3 Level. Possibly opening 2♣, but it seems if pd has a ♦ hand he will bid them anyway after 3♥, and opps with 10 card ♠ fit might help us out too. Mike
-
I almost have to X, I am short in their suit, and I do have 3 other suits. Not a strong hand but I do have 9 cards in the majors. Mike
-
Pd is overtaking and returning the ♥ jack only for 1 reason, he must be singleton in ♥, win return lowest ♥ and down 3 she goes. Mike  P.S. Bidding seem to be kinda goofy

A93 opposite Q8642 49,1739% for 4 tricks by playing the Ace and a low towards the Q. Q93 oppsite A8642 becomes 43,5217% again by playing the Ace first and low towards the Queen. Mike

It is better to bid 1♥ with your pd's hand, if he has a minimum hand and 5 ♣ and 4♥. But this is why many people started playing 2/1 to get away from this. Mike :)

Does the free 2♦ bid by pd show, extras, or just minimums with a ♦ suit ? Does it tend to show a balanced or unbalanced hand ? Mike :)

Beginner's question : what to open
Trpltrbl replied to Thumpermat's topic in Novice and Beginner Forum
1 NT, best bid to describe your hand. Mike :) -
Yes, so 3N is the only right bid in my opinion. with a slammish hand, cuebid if you have any control, without control but still want to try slam, bid 4D. After south 3N, North still will try 4N to invite and south should reject and play there. I agree with 3♥ by south being an overbid. Just bid 3 NT. Mike :D

Playing your system, bid what you have. Isn't that why you play a system like that ? Mike :D

Dutch Doubleton - Responses To 1C
Trpltrbl replied to pbleighton's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Correct, but in theory we respond very lightly. And I have never ever played 1♣, people just can't pass 1♣ no matter what they have in their hand they will come up with bid. Mike ;) -
I guess I add when I need to subtract. But it basically needs the ♥K10 to be onside so you can pitch your losing ♠, that chance is 24.1785%. Or you can play for ♠ Ace to be onside and the ♠ to be breaking no worse then 4-2. No wonder I have blond hair.... Mike ;)
-
I like it, I am playing something similair. I have no idea what it is called, but it works well. Mike ;)
-
I guess a ♥ was lead, because on a ♦ lead to have to guess really well, unless Qx ♣ onside. Mike ;)

Test your knowledge,
Trpltrbl replied to inquiry's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
The question was not about the best way to play this combination but about the odds of this suit dividing evenly after two rounds have seen everyone follow small. Then the question is just a waste of time. Mike :D -
1♣ - 1♥ 2♦ - 2♠ 3♣ - 4♣ 4♥ - 4♠ 5♦ - 5♥ 7♣ - 7NT 2♠= general forcing bid 4♣= RKC for ♣ 4♥= 0-3 Keycards 4♠= Asking for Q of ♣ and specific Kings 5♦= Q of ♣ and K of ♦ 5♥= asking to bid GS with K of ♥ or other tricks we don't know about 7♣= I have it 7 NT= no ruffing by opps :P Mike :D
-
I just open the North hand 2 NT, I think the hand is too good for 3♣ rebid. But after auction you gave I will rebid 2♦, which will get you to GS. Mike :P
-
It might not be the best slam in the world, but I would like to be in it. It is a little unlucky that we have a lot of points, in the same suit, were we don't need them. It is a 74,1785% slam, good enough for me. I have been in worse and I have gone down in better. Mike :P

1 ) no, not even close 2 ) Yes 3 ) 4♠ is accepting slamtry, and pd is missing AKJ of trump, just bid 6. Mike :P

a good topic for discussion
Trpltrbl replied to flytoox's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I sure would like to hear whar Eric has to say, or write, about this subject. he does have very good ideas. Mike :P -
25 % you are declarer, 25 % you are dummy. Wonder how you would call the other 50% :P But I know what you are trying to say :D If you can't defend you will never ever win in bridge, if your bidding sucks and you defend good you still have somewhat of a chance. Mike :D
-
If you think about psyching 1♠, you'll be hurting. Pd has at least 3 and possibly 4♠ and against good opps they'll smell your psyche directly. Just bid 1 ♥ and try to win the match with normal bridge :P you are only down 2 imps, and this hand looks like action, especially if pd has ♥ fit. Mike :D
-
Pd is bidding at 5 level, VUL with no ♣ control. I am bidding 6♠, I have 4 trump void and very nice side suit, pd must have ♦ control for his bidding. Mike :P
-
this line wont work, east whil win the hart whit jack and give p a ♦ruff, and a new club now make sure def get a ♠trick too I know, but you said it before me :P Mike :D

Let them know what has been played or just claim if many cards have been played. At least that is what I do. Mike :D
