  1. That is a nice feature. I just hope people not going to missuse it when they are losing a match. Mike ;)
  2. Good, I am not the only one who uses the Laws of Duplicate Contract Bridge 1997. It's nice to have some guidelines, and I would have used Law91. Mike ;)
  3. Totaly depends on system you play, in 2/1 I would bid 3♥, to support ♠ later. 4-4 fits play better. In SAYC or other natural systems I will 3♠ if that is forcing, or 3 ♦ which is forcing for sure. Mike :D
  4. So if somebody plays precison and opens 1♣ and alerts it as 16+ and his pd replies 1♦ 0-7 what does that stand for ? Everybody(more or less) takes that as HCP, if you play something else, maybe alert it as 16+ adjusted points or something like that. Mike :D
  5. Nicely set up. And again, if any needs some help when I am online, ask me. Mike :D
  6. Nicely Done, Mark. Keep it up, it's too bad I don't have much time left to be here on BBO, but when I retire I will be back in full force. Only 30 years to go, yihaaaaaaaa  Mike ;)
  7. BBO is a very friendly place ;) Let's keep it that way. Mike
  8. Everybody has there own way of evaluating. I like ZAR points and it seems to work nicely for me, and it is simple. I am not trying to push it on anybody, I bet ya most of you are old enough to make your own choices, I made mine... Mike
  9. 1 NT, tells it all. Have HCP and ♣ stopper and balanced hand. Not sure why we have to look deep into this. Keep it simple, if you already start having trouble with these types of hands, what is going to happen if you actually get a tuff hand  Mike ;)
  10. This a nice hand to explain to them that it doesn't hurt to play the last trump. It is nice to let them know how squeeze work, or how you set them up etc. Mike
  11. I feel for you Bambi. I know there are some really rude people out there, and they just do what they want to do and that doesn't include reading the description of the tourney. Though for them, if they can't read or follow direction, maybe they should go play somewhere else. Or some thing else you might be able to do, is adjust their score in such a manner they don't want to be rude anymore. Mike
  12. Yeah, it's kinda like running an Adv/Exp tourney here, except half of the experts can't count to 13. Mike :(
  13. I don't know very many people who don't play trf aftr NT opening, so just for that reason I will selfalert. But if I assuming something like Lebensohl, or some other lesser played convention, I will not alert, since no agreement. Mike :(
  14. 4♦ is one thing for sure, not interested in 3 NT :( I play it forcing in regular pdships, with some as Minorwood ( RKC in ♦ ), with others I want to find out about slam but I don't have ♣ control. But I guess in a pick-up game it can be just not interested in 3 NT but invitational for 5♦, possibly more. Mike :D
  15. When I play with various pd's who I don't know, I play very simple system. Either SAYC or 2/1 with whatever carding they like, whatever convention they prefer against opps NT, and some form of RKC. That's it, not to worry about silly stuff and just play bridge. And if you like a particular pd and going to play more with him/her you can always add stuff. Don't add too much at a time, maybe 1 convention each time you play. :) Mike ;)
  16. There are many different forms of multi. The one I grew up with, is either weak in a major, strong NT or Semiforcing in a minor(8/9 tricks). Most people I know now play it with either a weak in a Major or strong NT, but like I said there are different version out there, so best to ask. And good thing you know all the relays etc since again many I know, only know the 2 NT relay and everything else they just gamble. Mike :)
  17. 3♥, pd is a passed hand and he is protecting you, so don't hang him. Mike ;)
  18. It is like playing in blue ribbons, only everything has to be done within X amount of brds. It is too much of a hassle to play 3 different days since half of the people that qualify don't show up. So first few rounds are played, and we see that as qualifying round. Then we start playing with cut where the weakest pairs are ousted. Now we are in semifinal segment, playb a few rounds there with people getting ousted. And now we get to finals, not many weak pairs are left. And the best of the best, at least during that day, will win. Mike :) P.S. If you don't like it, don't play in it. Kinda like if you don't like Howard Stern, turn it off. But I guess that is too hard for some of you....
  19. As I noted before: Adding the type of functionality that you request would be very complex. Equally significant, adding these funcitons would do virtually NOTHING to improve security. BBO can layer on all the security they want, however, I can circumvent this with a trivial amount of effort. Example 1: There is nothing that BBO could do to prevent me from using a communications media on either (a) A second computer (:D A second image on the first PC - Check out a cute little company called VmWare that was just bought out by EMC Example 2: There is nothing that BBO can do to prevent me from using a phone In short, if someone wants to cheat, they will be able to find a way to cheat. Wasting enormous numbers of development cycles to provide the illusion of security is idiocy. I'd rather have the developers focus on actual feature set enhancements. I agree, if people wanna cheat, they will. Don't waste BBO resources or time on it. Play the game, cheaters will be found out and excluded eventually. And I really don't know why people are trying to cheat insomething where you don't have ratings, money or raking to play for. It's just plain stupid and silly in my eyes. But what people wanna do is up to them, I just feel very sorry for them :P Mike :D
  20. Generally when you bid 3 of their opening minor you are asking pd to bid 3 NT with a stopper in their suit. You could have a running minor with some cards in other suit but no stopper in their opening suit. Save that for that, and if you don't wanna play a convention, just bid it natural, bid highest one first and if you have to bid again bid other major(minor) suit. Mike :P
  21. It depends on strength of your hand, but a lot of people play a form of leaping Micheals, this shows a 5-5 hand or better with( of course GF or close it hand) It has also can show the other major and minor. 2♥ - 4♣ shows ♣ and ♠ Mike :P
  22. I totally agree, when things are getting busy you don't have time to find out which is what. Mike :P
  23. Is it really that hard to slide pointer over, it will take all but 0.01 of a second to do some work. And why does it matter it there are any, or how many kibs, are you going to play different ? PLS there must be something wrong if this is all you can worry about :P Mike :D
