  1. There's no need to be on Prime. Simply choose Casual>Start a Bidding Table, then click Start Table. From the 'hamburger menu' choose Deal Source, then choose Advanced (instead of the default 'use random deals'). Tick the checkbox titled 'Use this input for the dealer program', and then paste the script into the space below - where it says 'Use this input . . .' Then simply exit this panel with the X at top right. There's no save button. The script I gave above awards N a 1NT opener every time. Ticking the other available checkbox assigns it to N or S at random, so both players can practice responses. The same panel has a button link to the syntax to write your own scripts. Takes about 5 mins for most types of deal.
  2. "1. The ability to use deal sources other than "Random or Vugraph". I have worked out how to make all sorts of different hand types easily and import them into BBO for bidding practice. " Importing pre-designed hands seems laborious. Have you tried using the Dealer program to generate them for you (See Deal Source> Advanced). You can achieve very precise control over the hands dealt, by pasting the conditions 'code' into the field provided. This example will generate weak NT openers: /* Generate hands for practicing bidding after 1NT North hand. This is one NT according to Ron Klinger. 14 points plus 5 card suit = 15 points so not opened 1NT. Also allow weak 5 card majors in NT South hand. This is an attempt to produce what RK terms a strong responding hand, i.e 8 points and 6 card suit, or 9 points with a 5-card suit, or 10 points upwards */ north_ok1 = shape(north, any 4333 + any 4432 + any 5332) and hcp (north)>11 and hcp(north)< 14 north_ok2 = shape(north, any 4333 + any 4432) and hcp(north) == 14 south_ok1 = hcp(south)>=10 south_ok2 = hcp(south)==8 and shape(south, any 6xxx) south_ok3 = hcp(south)==9 and shape(south, any 5xxx) condition (north_ok1 or north_ok2) and (south_ok1 or south_ok2 or south_ok3) The instructions for writing your own code are also there. It looks complicated, but you can achieve a lot with fairly simple instructions.
  3. One of my regular partners has had a lot of trouble with disconnections, over a long period. I'm fairly sure that when this used to happen with the Flash client, as soon as he discoed his name would turn red (background). That meant that we all knew to wait, and if it was a casual game I could quickly reserve his seat to stop others sitting. The new software behaves differently. On a disco, there is no change of background colour until the missing player re-connects, which is far too late. In a tournament, we can all sit waiting for a play, or asking 'are you there p ?' in the belief that he's there. At casual, uninvited partners suddenly appear, and have to be asked to leave. Usually the first warning of disco is spotting 'friend just logged in' pop-up at the bottom right, and then the background turns red - sometimes with the 'reserved' message, until he finds the table again. Last night after we'd left the table and were chatting, I managed to type 3-4 lengthy sentences before I realised he wasn't there, but his user still showed as online long after (he told me later) he'd been discoed. Is there any way to fix this ? That is, detect discoes and alert them more quickly and clearly.
  4. When you start the table choose the Total Points method for Scoring (instead of Imps or MP). That will give you rubber bridge scoring - per hand, but without the rubbers. Close enough though.
  5. Yes, but this probably too late by 3 years. If not, let me know and I can write you some code.
  6. Thank you, sorted my problem too.
  7. This discussion seems to have flown off at several unhelpful tangents. The answer to the original poster is that you CAN see the bidding at any time by clicking on the depiction of the final contract - at the bottom right corner of the table. Clicking again restores the display of the current trick. SFI pointed this out earlier, but you were all too busy arguing to notice :)
  8. I was just wondering if anyone knows which game is being played in the video backdrop to the new splash screen ? They have bidding boxes, - but it can't be duplicate because they're actually dealing the cards, and then playing them into the centre of the table. Just rubber bridge then ? Although that would surely be an odd choice for BBO. But hold on. All four players are playing cards to the same trick ! There's no dummy ! So it's not bridge at all ! Another give-away is that they're all smiling and exchanging knowing glances, - very untypical of bridge. But it does look like great fun. Does anyone know what it is ?
  9. I'm not quite sure what the problem is here. I assume that you have created folders and saved 'game' hands already, and if so there is no difference for 'partials'. Where did you get the 'game' hands from and why can't you use the same procedure ? On the other hand, I can see that it seems impossible to save deals from boards that you haven't actually played, - ie. which aren't in your own history. Is that the problem ?
  10. The chat manager interface behaves differently and I find it quite confusing. Having to click in the chat window below the active table to invoke the Chat Manager is OK, but selecting a preset message places the message in a separate popup dialogue box (instead of just below the default chat window) with its own chat channel selector and chat buttons. The chat channel selector seems to remember the value last used, and does not change in sync with the default chat selector, - so that messages can easily be sent to the wrong channel. Can we not have messages from the chat manager simply written to the default chat message box ?
  11. Further to my last post, and after some more playing: I discovered that a single click on the table score panel (eg, IMPs NS 10 EW -10) opens a floating History window, and clicking a board from that window opens another floating window with the board layout. Initially, the board layout refreshed each time I chose another board in the History, but when I closed them down and did it again, the board layout were blank (no cards) although the Board number did change correctly. The floating windows obscure parts of the display, but when I tried to drag them on to my second monitor, they are constrained to the main window. They would be much more useful if that weren't the case, (and if they refreshed correctly).
  12. Played with the new HTML5 version for the first time tonight (as opposed to just providing feedback months ago) using Firefox 66.0.5 (64-bit). The History tab is broken, in that the table layout at the bottom does not refresh when I click on each different deal in the list, - while in My Table mode. It does refresh in Recent Hands, and Recent Tournaments, but not in My Table. A layout selected from Recent Hands (say 50th) still shows on return to My Table, and will not change whatever board I click on. Also, there seems to be no option to export a deal, a feature I use(d) a lot in email discussions with my p. Less important (to me) but perhaps important to you, is that there are no adverts shown at the LHS (no rush to fix that). As noted above, I would also much prefer smaller/better pictures of the cards.
  13. Just tried the new version, and immediately looked for the option not to have 'Big Cards' - but it's missing. Is there going to be an option to have the smaller cards ? (Which look much better imho) Also, in the Flash version, when on play and the mouse is hovered over a card, it is slightly elevated - a nice touch to show which card is selected (and also that it's your play). This feature is missing from the HTML version. Can it be restored please ?
  14. Thanks for the suggested cures, I'll try them as this happens often, and is very annoying. I have a set of messages set up in Chat Manager which I can use when it happens (eg. 'No chat p !', 'wdp' etc), but Chat Manager is also useful for announcing the system for new opps, or requesting new players. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available on the iPad interface, - just where it is needed most.
  15. This is becoming a real pain. And there is a pattern. It seems to happen most often when I (we) leave the table at the end of a session, and I'm trying to chat to my p. Any effort to copy/paste something form the earlier chats seems to cause it to hang. Logging out and back in cures it, but copy/paste causes it again.
