Now led a small diamond to the K. Played the JS (not covered) then small spade to the K. WEST showed out. North now played the QD, AS which was ruffed - revoke established. At the end of the play North was down two. The restitution made the hand down one. North claims that that penalty does not give equity. North will make the hand if there is not revoke. How do you rule?[/hv]

    Revoke

Dealer S, all Vul. Contract 4S by N N J 9 6 3 Q 7 K 6 T 7 6 4 2 West T 5 Q 7 2 East T 8 4 3 2 K J 5 9 7 J 8 5 4 A K Q 5 J 9 8 S A K 8 4 A 9 6 A Q T 3 2 3 A club was led, taken by the Q, the AC was led and ruffed in dummy. Declarer now led the small diamond to his K. Played the JS (not covered) and won the trick. Then played the KS and West showed out. Declared played the QD, then AD which was trumped by West. I do not know the rest of the play, but the final result was down two for -200. This was corrected to -100 due to the revoke. The declarer claims that this result does not restore equity, as if West had followed to the second trump the Declarer would have make the contract. How do you rule? For your information only, the hand was played 2 other times, one North made the hand and one South only made three. Thanks Sorry this is not in the proper format and that I did not get it sent correctly the first time.
  4. I was South and opened 1♣ My LHO overcalled 4♦ My partner (N) now bid 4NT. Is 4NT Ace asking or showing the other two suits (probable 5-5? Thanks for your replies
  5. Bidding by South: 2C (22+points) North: 2D (waiting) South: 3NT (25-27Pts) North: 4NT East and West passed in between.
  6. Thank you all very much. Happy I made the correct ruling. There was no damage to the non-offending side. The offending side got mixed up and the non offenders got a top board!!
  7. At a table the other night. The North player made as if to bid. He had his hands on the Bidding Box and had quarter pulled out a bid (that no one saw) when his partner said ' It's not your bid. He immediately pushed the bidding box cards back in the bidding box. His LHO called the director. What should the ruling be? It was South's turn to bid. (North's partner). Sorry ACBL jurisdiction
  8. Where is the "settings" box on the web BBO?
  9. The voice no longer works on my computer. I do not understand everything that is said - I have the latest Flash, and my Internet Explorer Cache is emptied at the end of each day - do not ask me how - I cannot use the Web BBO for vugraph or for teacher's sessions. I am thankful to those teachers who use the radio link. I am fairly certain that there was a change to BBO - however minor - that caused me to lose the voice. My computer has not been changed except to upgrade the various items that are usually mentioned. Thank heaven for friends who understand computers. However, they are unable to discover what the problem is.
  10. Congratulations - A win at that level is something most of us can only dream about and never achieve. Excellent!!
  11. NO, I mean November 6th!! Shortly after that date - final results will be posted on the ACBL site. Clubs do NOT have to submit October results to the ACBL until November 6th after ALL the club games have been played for the month.
  12. I am still having problems with the voice on the Web site as well. Lots of SOUND - just unable to decipher what is being said. I am not computer smart. My flash IS the latest. My cache empties automatically. (This information from the computer guy who came to see if he could figure out the problem. The sound works with all other sound programs. Also, when the voice FIRST started it worked fine on my computer.
  13. The results will be posted on the ACBL site shortly after November 6, 2012-
  14. I also neglected to say that the suit led is always the last one I put down - NT or Suit contract. It is supposed to give declarer time to look at the rest of the hand. It is not really a signal. As to putting the suits down with black-red-black-red I never worry about that and only change them if partner or the opps insist. So far, I can tell the difference between them (thankfully) so it makes no difference to me how dummy puts the suits down. It has never crossed my mind that someone would think that ANYONE was giving or getting some information on the way dummy puts the cards down. Sometimes it seems to me that people are too picky and should just remember that this is a card game and is meant to be enjoyable. If you go looking for trouble, be assured that trouble will find you. I have a feeling that the first poster had a reason for asking the question. Hope he/she will elaborate. It facinates me just what some people can find to get upset about. :D
  15. I don't think it matters. I try not to put a suit/suits that we have bid on the right hand side. Partners sometimes forget the contract. (Perhaps that should read -" I "- sometimes forget the contract).
  16. Tried again today August 12, 2012 to listen to Hedy but the sound was the same - Staccato bits.
  17. My internet is high speed and sends 100.0 Mbps - whatever that means. Perhaps that will answer your question. As Hedy says - the voice used to work.
  18. I guess I did not make myself clear. I tried to listen to the vugraph announcers and a teacher on the Web version. The sound does not work well. I get things like....ma..car...cou...tr... Sounds like a cell phone going in an out of range. I was advised to get the lastest Flash- which I have and as I am a complete computer idiot - there was some advice about another browser. If I change something like that I will be in real trouble. The sound used to work - so something has changed on the program. I enjoyed listening to LC, but now can no longer hear it. The sounds the cards make etc, etc is not a big concern. I like the Windows program computer relating what someone is typing on the screen. It is helpful as I can work at something else and still be part of the program.
  19. I use "old" version of BBO. I find everything I need or want. Tried to listen to a teacher on the new version the other day and the sound was terrible. Like the teachers that use the "radio" program. Also like the computer talking when I am "watching" plays. Cannot sit and look at a screen for ever - too hard on the eyes. Hope the Win program never disappears. Bingo is not a reason to change a program. There are bingo halls everywhere - go to one.
  20. Thanks everyone. Much appreciated.
  21. Thank you for your replies to my first question. Would the convention - if being used - legal in the ACBL under the General Chart or would it be Mid-Chart or above? Would it be a legal bid at the Game Level? I believe the pair is using what STATTO replied. Again Thanks
  22. Does anyone know anything about this convention or where I can find it? Not listed under "Bridge Guys" Would it be General Chart in the ACBL or something else. Is it OK for use at the Club Level?
  23. Hi, Try Ed O'Reilly - Kingston Ontario Canada BridgeKingston@sympatico.ca or BridgeCentre@Frontenac Mall 613 541-0034 Hope this helps Good Luck
  24. The following situation occurred recently. East dealer: North opens the bidding with 1♠ - Director is called: East does not accept the bid. North is told to pick up the bid and the table is told to keep bidding. Getting the book is recommended to the director. Director leaves to get the book. Bidding continues: East South West North P 1♣ 1♦ ? Before North has a chance to bid - the director returns with the laws and tells the table that South is barred from bidding for the entire auction. Bidding reverts to East and it goes: East South West North P P 1♦ 4♠ The North hand is: ♠ A K 7 6 5 2 ♥ 5 3 ♦ J 7 2 ♣ A 5 Should this result be permitted to stand. What rational can North have to bid 4♠ other than unauthorized information about the South hand?
