  1. Hi Mike:) This came up in a BIL tourney recently, I was TD and had a call from a player that opps has responded to an enquiry about a bid with "no explanation available". Opps did not reply to my private message for clarification. I like the "no partnership agreement" and will suggest in my announcements re unusual bids and conventions to my profile. Hopefully it will help in INDY tourneys.Thank you for bringing this up.
  2. It seems to be the price we pay for being able to play bridge on a free site. I suspect the number of runners in paid tourneys is far less than those in free tourneys. I TD for the Beginners Intermediate Lounge twice a week and occasionally it seems there are more subs than the players who registered. Part of the problem stems from players with multiple identities, blacklist someone from abandoning a game in the middle of a hand or towards the end of the tourney and they just register with another name. I try to keep track of runners but when you are scrambling to find subs to fill several abandoned seats there just isn't time, otherwise it holds up the game and causes much frustration. There is no TCR restriction for players in the BIL tourneys because these tourneys are intended for beginner and intermediate players and a TCR restriction would prevent newbies from joining. There are some players in the BIL tourneys who sub nearly every morning, they are my superstars. On the plus side I have met many really great players who have become friends and even met some of them, I have also learned to recognize idiot in about 20 languages.
  3. Would this be alertable then? It is a departure from the norm and where I play it is usual to announce the point range if your partner opens 1 NT.
  4. It has always been my understanding that it is not aadviseable to open 2 NT with a singleton. However, I was recently informed that the ACBL suggests that you may open 2 NT with a singleton Ace, I can't find anything to substantiate this, does anyone know?
  5. I am specifically referring to Bingo games played, I have not kept track of the actual percentage of offside finesses (in fact I think 95% is a low estimate) but I will in future
  6. I sometimes play Bingo which in itself is a challenge trying to get the GIB to bid a part score, especially in a major, however, what I find most interesting is the percentage of finesses that are off side. Are the hands pre-dealt, I cannot imagine that what i see as at least 95% of offside finesses being the result of random deals? Any explanation?
