Similar to Magic, Hearthstone will now have a "standard" format, containing only the basic set + expansions from two years. http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/blog/19995505/a-new-way-to-play-2-2-2016 Pretty exciting news IMO, neatly solves many of the creeping problems (power creep, reno lock)

I really dislike this brawl but can't tell you why. I just built a random Hobgoblin deck and did my opponent in with a 9/9 Frostwolf Warlord. I know people are having fun with crazy OTK combos.

There's a common way of keeping out the stupid trolls, by normalizing a person's ratings. The logic is that if you give everyone one star, that means they're all average, whereas if you usually give 5 and now give 3, that partner is probably bad. Granted, people could still invest the time in giving randoms 5 stars so their vote of 1 star to gwnn will have an impact.

Facebook uses a similar approach to enforce their guidelines. It's very often used vindictively and punishes the wrong people.

Interestingly, in English he says "your collection is even greater than my own", so it's funny in Spanish he's like "eh, you're also kinda okay"

Yeah. Usually what happens is you play an auctioneer and conceal it, cashing the cheap non-face spells on the way (coins, backstabs etc). The next turn you cycle a lot which results in drawing a combo kill (deckhand + cold bloods + faceless) or just drawing a lot of damage or just trying again, doing something like cold blood the auctioneer, hit face, conceal again. If you pick up Loatheb along the way it's also not bad in protecting auctioneers, since you can pretty easily clear the opponent's board with AoE and sap. It's a bit tricky because sometimes they bend over backwards to clear the auctioneer (like BGH + Shadowflame) and often the next turn you make a "quiet" move like developing two minions (5/4 and 3/3) when you're already looking at 12-16 damage burst that's just looking for you to retain a board for a single turn. Other times you just push tempo like an oil rogue and just go face with a cold-blooded minion. This most notably happens against aggro where you don't have the luxury of screwing around gathering combo since your heal is the one ERF and it takes 10 mana to do the full combo.

I fell in love with the new Miracle Rogue: http://i.imgur.com/oVEE3qV.png It's challenging, competitive and a lot of fun. Most importantly, it's different than what I laddered with the last couple of seasons.

My reno deck is a warrior. I got it more consistent than I initially thought possible - and I'm with Wesley wrt fun.

Fluffy, have you looked into this? http://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/decks/brian-kiblers-reno-jackson-control-mage/

The mech always assassinates the highest attack minion, so you need to have a decoy so it ignores the combo minions triggered by heal. Don't attack it with small minions so the 3 random bombs hit junk. The players should coordinate so one drops millhouse when the other has cho and a handful of buffs. BTW, new Hearthstone adventure announced, available next Thursday: http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/blog/19932699/join-the-league-of-explorers-on-november-12-11-6-2015

Yeah, I was planning to head here to post the same. I'm guessing they're testing reactions to gauge interest in PvE (player versus environment) as well as co-op, probably for future adventure content. The result was very cool.

Hurray I hit legend again, playing control warrior. Next season I'll try either midrange paladin or the new Patron warrior.

You certainly have a deck in arena. Your strategy depends on your curve, your card quality, your hero power and how much reach you have. Playing priest or paladin, you will usually be the control side of the match-up. Playing rogue or hunter, you will usually be very aggressive. Leper gnome is an aggressive card. Assuming you drafted it into the right deck, it means your hand will have good curve for the early turns, so dropping it T1 would be awesome. If, on the other hand, you're playing warrior and your hand is leper waraxe yeti, you would pass since you want them to coin something you can axe and leper will smooth the curve later on.
-
I disagree completely. It depends on your hand, whether you're going first and what your deck is like. I'm often very happy if my opponent wastes their turn 2 kill my one drop - that means I can play an uncontested 2-drop. If they have to coin to do it, even better. Arena is no longer about value, tempo is much more important. So, if my T2 is ***** (hero power, weak minion) I wouldn't drop the 2/1, but if I can follow up with a 2 and a 3 then I play that sucker out every time.
-
Except for warriors, who plan to fatigue the freeze mage, you should generally be pressuring the freeze mage as much as possible. The goal is to pop their ice block before they have time to set up a 2-3 turn kill.

I actually avoided picking up Patron because I was pretty sure it'll get nerfed at some point. The deck seemed fun and challenging, but investing all that effort for short-lived victories seemed like a bummer.
-
I assume you mean buzzard, since the Eaglehorn Bow nerf didn't really make it unplayable. I must say, until that announcement, I played a little over 200 games games and saw 7 patron. The deck didn't really feel like a problem on the ladder, but it did warp the entire tournament scene.

RIP Patron: http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/forum/topic/19288409377

Just post your battle tag (name + number) or PM it to me, I'll add you (my name on HS is Buch, I chose a random nickname I call my kid when signing up because I didn't expect to like it) [edit] BTW currently I'm not that hot. Still learning decks, so yesterday I went 24-19 around rank 8 (playing Midrange paladin) for instance. I'm probably still making mistakes and the deck's not yet optimized (only re-added belchers after 40 games or so, after realizing taunts are key against secret paladin, which is a whopping 50% of the meta I see)
-
Forgot to update, I hit legend again this season, playing Dragon Warrior from Rank 3 (Tempo mage until 5, then Tempo Mage / Dragon Priest / Midrange Hunter based on daily quests until 3). Spent my legend-ness gate-keeping secret paladins out by playing control priest and echo mage. Fun times.

They only did it to change the top Google search result for "famous Israeli pair" to something less embarrassing.

Cheating Allegations
Antrax replied to eagles123's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
The IBF committee decided to suspend F&S due to the weight of the evidence until the investigation is over. F&S have requested a chance to speak and appeal this decision and got until the 24th. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153321839548922&set=pcb.1224122187604342&type=1&theater -
Cheating Allegations

I don't think you can draw that conclusion, since the reason they were caught and outed were the verysame whispers. So, there's still the possibility of better cheaters that you haven't caught. -
If I'm reading it correctly, the programming mistake is to allow the abuse that the club were doing. In other words, you weren't accidentally kicked out, but the only reason it were possible to pull that trick was a programming oversight that will be rectified soon.
